Ik ga vannacht maar eens dromen over mijn nummer 21, die mag morgen een plekje doorschuiven.

Voor de goede orde: ik wil ook graag Debut in mijn lijstje opnemen en beschouw dit ook werkelijk als haar debuut - hetgeen zij zelf kennelijk ook graag zo ziet -, maar het is puur een kwestie van wie trekt waar de grens.

Als ze het zelf als haar debuutplaat ziet, wie zijn wij dan om daar niet in mee te gaan?

In principe heb je gelijk, maar er zijn artiesten waarbij geen releasedatum is ingevuld en waarbij albums nog op alfabetische volgorde worden gerangschikt (uiteraard indien het jaar van uitkomen gelijk is). Daar heb je dus al de eerste uitzondering.

Dan de volgende: Wanneer is iets een album? Mij lijkt me het meest logische om inderdaad alleen de officieel uitgebrachte reguliere albums te nemen. Hoewel ik niemand zal tegenhouden om een EP te kiezen (scores zijn natuurlijk sowieo uitzonderingen, maar ik vraag me af of iemand die zal nomineren).

Voor mij is eigenlijk de enige "regel" dat het album officieel uitgebracht moet zijn.

Ik heb Debut inmiddels ingeruild voor Leftism.

Nutteloos zijn ze nooit. Ik weet zeker dat daar wat albums tussen staan waar een aantal mensen naar gaan luisteren.

Zekers een goed album, niet alleen om haar dood gewoon omdat het een ijzersterk album is. We hadden bijna twee overeenkomsten gehad. Het pas ontdekte album van Bill Withers valt net buiten mijn top 20.

Het begon veelbelovend met flink wat lijstjes. Helaas blijft het nu akelig stil.

Laat jij maar eens je lijstje zien, Chev, dan hebben we er gelijk weer eentje bij.

Onder het genot van een meer dan uitstekend debuut (Closing Time ) is dat een prima idee.

Alleen debuutalbums die ook echt als een debuut aanvoelen (geen Mark Hollis, Derek and the Dominos of bands waarvan maar één album uitgekomen is). Ook geen Fleet Foxes, omdat ik dat nog te vroeg vind. CSN&Y vond ik te goed om te laten liggen. CS&N en het debuut van Young zelf schoten ook net te kort (beiden 3,5*).

Bedoel je Definitely Maybe?

Noemde jij Tom Waits ooit niet 'het voorbeeld van hoe muziek niet moet zijn?'

Dat kan ik me niet herinneren. Ik vond het vooral saai, maar tijdens het beluisteren van Closing Time bleek dat ik gewoon de verkeerde nummers had gehoord. Zelfde probleem als met Nick Cave (The Mercy Seat en Into My Arms vs. The Good Son )

Toch fijn dat je (voor een deel) bent bijgedraaid.

En misschien komt de waardering voor nummers als The Mercy Seat ook nog. Ik herriner me de eerste keer dat ik naar The Mercy Seat luisterde. Ik moest ergens halverwege stoppen omdat mijn arme oren het niet meer aankonden. Nu vind ik het een geweldig nummer.

Na de MuMe Finale van vorig jaar heb ik de top 101 bij elkaar gesprokkeld. Elk nummer heb ik inmiddels al meerdere malen afgespeeld, maar The Mercy Seat nog nul keer. Eerlijk gezegd ben ik van plan dat zo te houden, totdat het weer 'moet'. "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth".

De MuMe top X: moeilijke tweede albums?

Ik wil ooit nog wel een keertje "Top X: Zwanenzang albums" spelen. Debuutalbums worden zo vaak genoemd, maar welke artiesten zijn ook nog goed geëindigd?

Ha, dan kunnen alle eendagsvliegen in beide edities meedoen

Overigens lijkt beste muziek-dvd me wel leuk
