- Mr Beatnik: volgens mij ontdekt via de Spotify-playlist van Resident Advisor. Melodieuze, mellow, house, die me naar zomerse sferen doet verlangen.
- Starling: doet me een beetje denken aan 90s triphop, loom nummer met een onheilspellend refrein.
- Natalia Lafourcade: Mexicaanse folk die ik uit de toplijst van RYM heb gevist. Daar is dit een van de hoogstgewaardeerde singles uit 2017 met een 13e plek. Erg genietbaar nummer in alle opzichten. Doet wel wat aan de Buena Vista Social Club denken zodra de mannen de vrouw vocaal ondersteunen.

De MuMeAfrekening op Spotify:



In week 8 consolideert Mosa Wild met verve zijn eerste positie, Spinvis volgt op redelijke achterstand. Verder zie ik zo gauw geen kapers op de kust, maar wie weet hoe hard de nieuwe binnenkomers komende week doorstijgen.

De hoogste is van Future Islands, een synthpopband die al 10 jaar meegaat, maar 3 jaar geleden pas echt doorbrak met Seasons en in het bijzonder het intense dansje van de zanger in de David Letterman Show. Run borduurt voort op hetzelfde geluid, voor synthpop klinkt Future Islands opvallend doorleefd.

Pumarosa is inmiddels toe aan de vierde single. Deze was me nog ontgaan, maar na een keer luisteren weet ik wel genoeg: dit is weer echte kwaliteit. Mysterieus nummer dat me meteen grijpt. Misschien wel hun beste nummers sinds Priestess, wat voor mij een van de allerbeste nummers van 2015 was. Ik ben erg benieuwd naar het in mei uit te komen debuutalbum, waarvan dit de opener zal zijn.

Real Estate is een Amerikaanse alternatieve gitaarband in de stijl van The Feelies, de oude R.E.M., etc. Deze stond ook in mijn lijst. Lekker laidback nummer.

Temples doet door het gitaargeluid, de electronische geluidjes en de stem van de zanger gelijk erg denken aan Tame Impala. Nu weet ik dat ze een jaar of 5 terug al meteen lekkere gitaarmuziek met een vleugje psychedelica maakte en dat is zo te horen niet veranderd.

Het Deense Mew laat een ietwat ander geluid horen. Wat melodramatischer en ook in een wat progressieve stijl. Fijne band en ook een fijn nummer om op weg te mijmeren.

AstroStart top 20 + tipparade - week 9




Bedankt iedereen voor de lijstjes. Ik probeer alle nieuwe binnenkomers te luisteren. Dit keer een paar nieuwe platen van cowboyhenkie en ArthurDZ in de lijst: Mildenhall (in de top 20), I Bow Down (tipparade) en NO CD (in de top 20). De eerste single van The Shins vond ik nogal schreeuwerig en hyper, maar Mildenhall is een rustige tropische song, fraai laag gezongen. Die in Shanghai komt uit de Spotify-playlist van Gretz. Jammer dat er geen plek meer was voor iets van Sälen (uit dezelfde playlist).

Iedereen is natuurlijk altijd blij met z'n eigen lijst, gerre!

Er wordt blijkbaar ook erg weinig afgekeken, of eigenlijk afgeluisterd, want iedereen kiest (na een zoektochtje) toch vaak voor eigen gevonden nummers.

Zo vond ik Creeper en Amazons: om door een ringetje te halen. Maar ik heb wel Black Angels (gelukkig) gevonden bij VladTheImpaler, ik wist niet dat ze nieuw werk hadden uitgebracht. Dus wat dat betreft dan weer blij met zijn rentree!

Die Black Angels had ik ook gemist, gelukkig is de carnaval voorbij.

Inderdaad.
Hoewel ik er hier verder niet zo'n last van heb...

Lijstje van 2 maart alweer. Leuk om te zien dat in een aantal lijstjes Loyle Carner (met NO CD) is opgepikt, zijn 'nieuwe' single is toch door weten te dringen tot mijn lijstje en een van de drie nieuwe binnenkomers. De andere ook al in de hiphophoek, meestal niet echt mijn ding, maar zowel Loyle Carner en Chance the rapper zijn uitzonderingen; Chance meestal met humor in de teksten zoals bij Baby Blue met Action Bronson en Girls at en of No Problem nu geniaal of heel slecht is ben ik nog niet uit.

En de laatste nieuwkomer komt zowaar eens uit mijn Spotify Discover Weekly lijst, al weekly in weekly uit staat daar niet veel bijzonders in, of liedjes die ik al ken, maar nu eens niet. Theo Lawrance and the hearts zijn een soort wannebe-BlackKeys op een positieve manier, met een schattig Frans accent.

Verder weinig wijzigingen. Een paar gevallen kwartjes stijgen door, eentje valt er alweer uit. Opvallendste stijger vind ik zelf 'Down' van Marion Hill, vond ik eerst wel apart en nu toch eigenlijk best leuk en wordt ik er, ondanks de titel, wel vrolijk van.
En 123poetertjes, toen ik die Sarah Walk hoorde, dacht ik direct dat het er eigenlijk eentje is die ik normaal uit jouw lijstje zou halen
