Tja, nieuwe singles van Deep Purple en Michael Kiwanuka, dan kun je mij alweer wegdragen.
Deep Purple heeft in april het nieuwe album Infinite, Kiwanuka heeft nog een opvolger van zijn kaskraker Love & Hate.

Daar kan vrijwel niemand tegen op, hoewel ik erg veel plezier had in de nieuwe singles van The Edge of the Sun, Surge & Incubus, moet ik zeggen.

Nieuwe nummers van Mew & Ride staan nog een beetje als tips onderin de lijst, vooral omdat hun vorige nummers nog hoog in de top 10 staan.

Findlay blijft op 1 en komt op 3 en ik het album van Findlay; dank aan Poetertjes en Sunderland.

Hoogste nieuwe binnenkomer is Lorde, het is even wennen, maar na een paar keer eigenlijk wel weer goed; maar ach, al zingt Lorde het telefoonboek van Auckland, dan komt het nog in mijn lijstje.
Een andere nieuwe binnenkomer staat al heel hoog in andere lijstjes, Venus Fly; niet perse mijn genre, maar wel een heel sterk nummer en Janelle Monae heb ik ook altijd wel een zwak voor. Het nieuwe nummer van Alt-J ook nog net in de top20, dat is zo'n liedje dat nog moet 'groeien'. En de onbekende nieuwe binnenkomer deze week is Cathy Davey met The Pattern, een feeëriek liedje. Verder nog wat tips omdat ik vorige week veel tijd had om nieuwe muziek te ontdekken.

Voor week 10 had ik al vrij snel genoeg nummers bij elkaar en daarom kan ik eindelijk weer eens traditioneel op donderdag posten. Charlotte Carpenter is verdwenen na 18 weken, wat best wel lang is aangezien ik een Beauvengrens van twintig weken hanteer, daarna wordt het sowieso wieberen. Nu is het aan Las Aves, dat al 15 weken lang sneaky subtopt en nu zelfs weer een plekje stijgt, om tot het einde te reiken. De recente Amber Arcades is pas net begonnen maar gaat het voorlopig nog wel even volhouden, nu voor de tweede week op 1. Verder een kleine wisseling op het podium: Cuesta Loeb stijgt een plekje, Suus daalt er één. Tot slot verwelkomen we vier nummers: twee verse binnenkomers die in hun toon flink contrasteren en nog twee Tippers.

Net nu ik eraan dacht om m’n afrekening hier weer te embedden zijn juist de twee hoogste nieuwkomers niet beschikbaar op Spotify. Ook niet zo’n probleem, de ene staat er als het goed is morgen op en van de andere moet je toch sowieso het clipje bekijken.

Opeens stond er weer één in Sfeermakers lijstje: een k-popliedje waar ik onwijs vrolijk van word. Zoals het een k-popliedje betaamt is ie weer lekker upbeat, retecommercieel (en vol met een heel leger aan k-popjes. Negen meisjes tussen de 17 en 21 jaar, nog schattiger dan een gezonde Kamergotchi en afkomstig uit zowel Zuid-Korea als Japan (en nog een enkeling uit Taiwan). In eigen land zijn ze echt huuuge - hun superdupercute clipje van 19 februari zit al bijna aan de 50 miljoen views - maar volgens mij niet onverdeeld positief ontvangen. Ach, wat maakt het uit, ik vind ze leuk. Heel erg leuk. Hartje.

First Aid Kit - You Are The Problem Here
Van alle schrijvers van lieve liedjes maken deze Zweedse zusjes de liefste van allemaal. Stel je bij dit nummer ook weer een uitgestrekte weide voor, bergen op de achtergrond, helder zomerzonnetje en meisjes in zijden jurkjes die na het koeien melken vrolijk dartelen in het koren. En gooi dat idee maar ergens in de prullenbak. Dit liedje, gisteren speciaal voor Vrouwendag uitgebracht, is namelijk allesbehalve lief. Het begint al met een snijdende gitaar. Eerste zin: “I am so sick and tired of this world.” Slotzin van het refrein: “I hope you fucking suffer”. Maar meisjes toch, wat is er aan de hand? Wel, dit is een liedje over het plegen seksueel misbruik en de tendens om het achter een bepaalde cultuur te schuiven terwijl jij simpelweg zelf het probleem bent. Een venijnig, hartverscheurend liedje.

Ik ben niet echt een volger van het Songfestival maar af en toe zit er wel iets heel moois tussen. Dit is de nieuwe Belgische inzending en hij is heerlijk onderkoeld dromerig. Prachtig gezongen ook. Met zo’n platform als Eurovision kan het wel eens een enorme hit gaan worden. En die meid is pas zeventien! Hopelijk passen ze een beetje goed op haar en blijft ze lekker zichzelf, dan kunnen we er de komende jaren nog veel van verwachten!

Equal Idiots - Put My Head In The Ground
Leuk Belgisch bandje dat de finale van De Nieuwe Lichting 2016 (StuBru) haalde dankzij hun vorige single Salmon Pink, dat al duidelijk teruggreep naar Tyranossaurus Hives, het al iets poppier derde album van u raadt het al: The Hives. Ook hun nieuwe is weer springerig, schreeuwerig en heel erg energiek. Een net geen drie minuten durende adrenalinestoot.

Where u iz, is where it's at and you can't beat that with a baseball bat. En nu dansen bitte!

Natalia Lafourcade - Tú Sí Sabes Quererme
Het Mexicaanse water mag dan wel worden afgehouden door de Afsluitdijk, de geluidsgolven reiken gelukkig wel het vasteland. Natalia heeft het afgelopen decennium al een behoorlijke naam opgebouwd in Mexico en maakt frisse popliedjes met veel latin-invloeden. Ik luister an sich best graag naar latin zo op z'n tijd, niet echt een genre dat beklijft bij mij maar het weet wel een uniek sfeertje neer te zetten. Dit nummer, dat ik heb leren kennen via de Song van het Jaar, is de eerste die daadwerkelijk mijn Tip weet te halen.

Nosoyo - Resonate
Nederlands duo slash tortelduifjes, nu gesitueerd in Berlijn. Disillusioned haalde van de zomer mijn allereerste afrekening op MuMe en is een onwijs catchy popliedje. Resonate is dat ook, BOY en Sara Bareilles zijn niet ver weg. Al zijn die laatste twee wel net iets ingenieuzer
imo.

That Poppy - I'm Poppy
Dit is That Poppy. That Poppy is een popzangeres. Ze maakt poppy nummers. Haar laatste release is I'm Poppy. Hij is nogal poppy.

Slecht nieuws voor de K-Pop liefhebbers: K-Pop is in eerste instantie al meer business dan kunst, en de markt zal waarschijnlijk in de toekomst krimpen. Reden? Problemen met hun allergrootste klant: China

Deze week heeft China alle Koreaanse muziek van hun streamingwebsites gehaald, en radio's spelen geen K-pop meer. Hetzelfde verhaal met Koreaanse TV-drama's, en ook de grootste Koreaanse supermarkt heeft al sommige vestigingen moeten sluiten.

De K-pop verliest deze week dus een groot deel van hun kapitaal, het valt natuurlijk wel af te wachten hoe lang de ban zal duren, maar China kennende zullen ze dit wel een tijdje aanhouden.

Waarom dit alles? Politieke oorzaken, ik zal dus de gehele uitleg achterwege laten. Voor meer info moet je maar eens THAAD googelen.

Hmm, bizar. Ik zal denk ik nooit veel van diplomatie begrijpen. Zeker als er wapens bij betrokken zijn. Wow War Tonight...

Nu maar hopen de k-popscene zich ondertussen op andere markten kan richten (Europa?), al is dat meer een wens dan een reële optie.

Ik heb in mijn omgeving enkele mensen verslaafd kunnen maken aan K-pop . Al moet ik zeggen dat 90% zoiets heeft van "wat een kutmuziek, die Koreaanse teksten vind ik niks", maar de goede productie hoort men vaak wel. Spread the music!
