Sufjan in Carré: emotioneel, ontroerend, kippenvel.

Misschien wel de meest veelzijdige artiest die ik ken en zo hoog waardeer. Een top 10 is echt veel te weinig.

Nummers van Seven Swans hadden vertegenwoordigd kunnen zijn, maar mijn collega's in dit topic vonden die nummers blijkbaar niet de moeite waard.

Ik voel je pijn. Ik had gedacht dat dit wel een fan-favoriet zou zijn, maar helaas.

Is het ook, maar jij als spelleider laat "iedereen" meedoen

Dat is waar, volgende keer maar met een ballotage werken dan!

Ben geen groot fan van deze man, maar heb veel van zijn werk leren kennen door de diverse spellen hier op MuMe. Meer dan de helft van de finalelijst was bekend en mij daarom toch maar een top 10 gewaagd. Gelukkig mag "iedereen" nog gewoon meedoen van de spelleider

Tonya is blijkbaar niet echt een favoriet, maar ik vind het zijn allermooiste

Wat een fantastische artiest is Sufjan Stevens toch. Fijn om deze week (een deel van) zijn werk extra gedraaid te hebben. Tegelijk is een top tien maken natuurlijk gekkenwerk. Voor nu zet ik dit maar neer, maar morgen ziet de lijst er alweer anders uit. In ieder geval prettig dat spelleider Hedser geen kunstgrepen heeft uitgehaald en we deze finale gewoon met (ong.) twintig liedjes spelen. Dertig, veertig of vijftig stuks had ook makkelijk gekund, maar dan was het me echt nooit gelukt een lijstje te maken.

Walgelijk inderdaad.

Nou, ik vind het wel mooie platen. Lekker phuh!

Bij een vrije keus zou alleen mijn top 4 de top 10 gehaald hebben... Jammer dat Seven Swans hier zo ondergewaardeerd wordt, blijft voor mij zijn mooiste album al komt Carrie & Lowell in de buurt. Maar die nummers werken voor mij los niet zo goed op de een of andere manier, duidelijk een geval van een geheel dat groter is dan de som der delen. Outtake Wallowa Lake Monster werkt als losse track dan wel weer beter voor mij. Pure magie en de laatste minuten is het alsof Sufjan's moeder meeluistert vanuit de hemel. Prachtige tekst ook, die Dungeons and Dragons verwijzingen geven het vreemd genoeg nog een extra emotionele lading mee.

Illinois heeft natuurlijk ook zeker zijn momenten en is een soort Michigan in het kwadraat, met nog meer tierelantijnen. Ondanks de schoonheid wel een wat vermoeiend album dat ik liever in etappes luister.

Trouwens met enige (gezonde) jaloezie het bericht van aERodynamIC gelezen. Heb Sufjan nog nooit live gezien en onderhand staat hij bovenaan mijn lijstje van in leven zijnde artiesten die ik nog eens live wil zien. Denk ook dat hij na Bowie wel eens de artiest kan zijn die ik de afgelopen 20 jaar het meeste heb gedraaid.
