Greatest Hits of #7: TOP 40 NUMMER 1 HITS! - DE FINALE

Het zal niemand meer verbazen maar de nieuwste nummers in de finale zijn 34 jaar oud, dus uit 1991. We zijn een clubje van belegen mannen en vrouwen die er genoegen in scheppen om onze kliekjes eindeloos op te warmen. Niemand die dit buiten onze bubbel serieus serieus neemt maar laten wij vooral de illusie in stand houden dat de Top 40 na de jaren 80 niets meer voorstelt. Of is het echt zo triest gesteld met onze nationale hitlijst en de gemiddelde smaak in ons landje?

Laten we eerst maar eens een blik werpen op de afvallers. Het zal niemand verbazen dat Lisa Lois, Counting Crows en Guus Meeuwis op weinig MuMe liefde konden rekenen. Minder opvallend is dat Top 2000 krakers 'Belfast Child', 'Paradise By The Dashboardlight' en 'Jeanny' ook al de lijst verlaten.

Een uitschakeling van BH had wat geweest. Heer en meester in de Top 2000 en hier niet behorend tot de 40 beste nummer 1 hits. Slechts één liedje werd niet genoemd door jullie: er is blijkbaar geen haat voor Denis van Blondie. Hoeveel liefde mogen jullie nu gaan doorgeven:

Een overzicht per decennium, fuck de nineties, de zeroes, de tens en twenties. De top 40 bestaat 65 jaar en wij serveren de laatste 34 jaar gewoon af. Eigenlijk is er maar 1 decennium wat er toe doet.

Tja, de jaren '80 waren dé top 40 jaren voor mij. Elke vrijdag het blaadje halen in de winkel en dan thuis uitpluizen en de nummers die ik als single had highlighten met een marker.
In de jaren '90 ben ik afgehaakt en heb het nooit meer gevolgd.

De jaren '80 vind ik wel overroepen tov. de jaren '60 en '70. Wat niet wegneemt dat in de jaren '80 ook veel prima nr.1-hits leverde wat de volgende decennia minder het geval was.

Bij de eliminatieronde merkte ik al dat er maar weinig nummers in de lijst stonden waar ik echt iets op tegen heb, maar heel erg veel enthousiasme roepen de meeste nummers nou ook niet direct op - het overgrote deel van de nummers uit de finalelijst zit ergens tussen de 6,5 en 7,5.

Toch eigenlijk verrassend makkelijk een top 10 op volgorde te zetten waar ook weer verrassend weinig van mijn top 40 tijd in staat, ok de helft maar dat is toch minder dan ik eerst had verwacht.
Tijdens 99 luftballons raakte ik een beetje geïnteresseerd dat al vrij snel veranderde begin 1984 richting obsessief top 40 volgen, uiteraard ook de top 40 blaadjes halend (Spans in Meppel) maar kopend eigenlijk pas als ze de top 40 of tipparade uitwaren, hopend dat er dan nog over was
Ik mis wel Amy Macdonald die zomaar top 3 zou kunnen hebben gehaald.

Ooit in 1979 begonnen met het verzamelen van de top 40 lijstjes en eind jaren 90 afgehaakt. Ik vond destijds de Outlaw 41 een stuk interessanter.

Op basis van mijn geboortejaar valt alleen Radar Love een klein beetje uit de toon ..

19 van Paul Hardcastle was mijn eerste singletje. Gekocht bij Diskoland in Enkhuizen of Hoorn. Daar kwam ik toch minimaal wel 1 x per week, vaak na schooltijd. Platen kijken, luisteren en soms ook kopen.

En ja, de top-40 na de jaren ‘80 stelt inderdaad vrijwel niets meer voor

Met de meeste afvallers kan ik wel leven, maar die nummers van The Weeknd, Kylie en Peggy Gou vind ik wel tof en hadden beter verdiend. Een doodzonde vind ik dat Mory Kante de lijst niet gehaald heeft, had bij mij wel top-5 gestaan.

Jaa, uitstekend plan. Ik doe nog geen toezegging voor een exacte week, maar deze wil ik zeker eens organiseren.

Was te druk voor een eigen eliminatielijstje, had natuurlijk weinig uitgemaakt. Het is verre van onverwachte uitslag, en het valt de gemene deler niet eens zo kwalijk te nemen. MuMe is immers ernstig vergrijst en mensen stemmen uiteraard met een nostalgische bril. Waardoor de relatief recente #1-hits vrij kansloos zijn, hoe briljante liedjes het ook zijn. Zei vanavond nog tegen Johnny Marrissey dat er minstens een decennium nauwelijks nieuwe aanwas meer is op MuMe, in tegenstelling tot bijvoorbeeld de Top 2000 waar het stempubliek wel elk jaar een beetje opschuift. We hebben het er maar mee te doen.

Zo had m'n top-21 eruit gezien als de gemiddelde leeftijd van de MuMe'er nog even hoog had gelegen als in 2006.
