Ik zou het psychedelische debuut vervangen door het meer symfonische Atom Heart Mother.

Een beetje jammer dat je van deze bekende progband uit Italië slechts één plaat selecteert, terwijl het symfonische gehalte van deze platen beduidend hoger ligt dan andere platen die nu wel zijn geselecteerd.

Ik zou de 'rockplaat' The Bends vervangen door Kid A, dat door het innovatieve karakter van die plaat meer tot zijn recht komt in deze lijst.

Het debuut staat een stuk hoger in aanzien, vermoed ik.

Omdat er nu nog teveel platen over zijn, zou ik mij wat strikter gaan houden wat wel en wat niet symfonische of progressieve rock is. Zonder waardeoordeel over de grensgevallen te willen geven, zou ik me dus wat meer beperken en dat betekent dus onder meer dat ik alle postrock-platen uit de lijst zou schrappen.

Nogmaals, ik vel hier een waardeoordeel, want er staat een paar prachtige platen in bovenstaande lijst. Ik heb enkel deze platen verwijderd, omdat ik van mening ben dat deze zich ietwat buiten de grenzen van het genre bevinden.

Is Still niet net zo progressief als het voorbeeld dat jij geeft met Dust And Dreams (wat ik overigens na Nude het beste Camel album vindt)

In de meesten kan ik me wel vinden......alhoewel Ayreon onterecht verwijderd wordt naar mijn mening.

Op zich ben ik het hier wel mee eens, enkel wil ik vermelden dat er op zich al eerder beslist was om de toevoeging '-rock' te laten vallen (waardoor platen van Jarre, Tangerine Dream & Kraftwerk bijvoorbeeld wel mogelijk zijn). En vooral ben ik het mede wel met je lijst eens. Alleen wil ik dan wel vragen om A Great Inhumane Adventure van Present te vervangen door een ander album van Present, ik stel dan No. 6 voor. En wat betreft Wurdah ïtah: volgens mij is die best bekend, maar dan met Magma als uitvoerder (wat eigenlijk fout is) & niet Christian Vander.

Vangelis lijkt me (met alle respect uiteraard voor zijn kwaliteiten) geen progrock, van Aphrodites Child kan ik dat niet goed inschatten.

Wel een leuke K.O. dit, ik ken een hele hoop niet natuurlijk, maar vind het persoonlijk wel leuk dat het genre een beetje breed wordt getrokken. Ik ben van plan wel wat te beluisteren af en toe om mee te stemmen.

Voordat ik echt actief mee kan doen aan deze K.O. heb ik ook nog wel wat te luisteren, als ik 't zo eens bekijk.

Oke, bedankt voor alle reacties, ik zal het zodadelijk nog eens overlezen.

Een criterium dat ik in eerste instantie onvoldoende duidelijk had gemaakt, maar dat ik wel gehanteerd had was: probeer (indien ik er enige kijk op heb) om de verschillende (gerespecteerde) gedaanten van bands enigszins te reflecteren. Dus bijvoorbeeld: met NC, Foxtrot, SEBTP, TLLTOB, ATOTT is de klassieke periode van Genesis alleszins redelijk vertegenwoordigd, gooi er ook een Invisible Touch in (ik vind het ook een plaat van niks, maar ik weet dat er voldoende mensen anders over denken). Als nou blijkt dat iedereen het daarmee eens is, ja dan laten we dat varen.

Verder heb ik vaak de neiging gevoeld om een recentste plaat van een band er in elk geval in te laten. Dat dit in een aantal gevallen inhoudelijk aanvechtbaar is, is een ander verhaal...

Ik laat jullie achter met een nieuwe lijst nominaties. Het zijn er nu precies 512. Ik heb geprobeerd van eenieder wat suggesties mee te nemen. Qua postrockalbums heb ik niet alles geschrapt (daartoe vind ik dit gebied toch te veel aan de prog gerelateerd) maar wel het aantal wat beperkt. Qua Camel en Genesis ben ik wegens massaal protest omgegaan.

Goed, nu dus een lijst met het schitterende aantal van 512 nominaties. Hij is nog niet definitief, er mogen nog wijzigingen aangebracht worden. Wees dus niet beschroomd om met nieuwe inzichten te komen of een oud inzicht te herhalen (het kan zijn dat ik je vorige inzicht domweg over het hoofd gezien heb, het kan ook zijn dat ik het er domweg mee oneens was). Om de constructiviteit te maximaliseren stel ik het volgende voor:

Stel tegenover elke suggestie tot toevoeging ook een suggestie tot schrappen (of omgekeerd). Zie je een suggestie van iemand anders die je niet aanstaat, kom dat met een beter voorstel (als ik toevallig niks van de betreffende bands weet, is de kans dat ik de suggestie klakkeloos opvolg aanzienlijk ).
