We wachten met z'n allen met smart op de uitkomst van de MuMeladder, maar om de leemte daarna te vullen, had ik een idee voor een nieuwe, soortgelijke KO. Het belangrijkste van deze KO is dat er maar één nummer per artiest deelneemt. Daarom heb ik de 800 beste/belangrijkste/meest invloedrijke artiesten en songs uitgezocht, om daar een KO mee te starten.

Het idee:
1e ronde - 800 songs, 4x4 per keer, met looptijd van 12 uur. Daarna een herkansing met de beste 32 verliezers/slechtste 32 winnaars.
2e ronde - 400 songs, zelfde idee, alleen 2x16 herkansers.
3e ronde - 200 songs, zelfde idee, 2x8 herkansers.
4e ronde - 100 songs, verdeeld in 10 groepen, iedereen mag punten toekennen.
5e ronde - 100 songs in 10 groepen, uiteindelijke volgorde wordt bepaald door onderlinge KO's

Ik heb gebruik gemaakt van diverse songlijsten (Top 2000, Veronica top 1000, Arrow Rock 500, Q Song 500, Tijdloze), MusicMeter en Last.fm, en gewoon mn eigen ideeën over muziek. Het belangrijkste vond ik iig een gevarieerde lijst te maken, waar alle genres in vertegenwoordigd zijn, en alle decennia van de popmuziek ('50 to '00). Natuurlijk zal ik wel her en der een nummer vergeten zijn, en zullen er nummers tussen staan waarvan mensen denken: 'wat doet dat hier?', maar over het algemeen denk ik dat het de popmuziek wel redelijk dekt.

Sommige artiesten zijn heel invloedrijk, maar redelijk onbekend (bv. Can). Andere artiesten worden door de muziekkenners niet echt serieus genomen, maar zijn wel heel bekend (bv. Celine Dion). Ik heb gekozen om beiden in de lijst op te nemen voor een zo objectief mogelijk resultaat.

Wat betreft de songkeuze: ik heb doorgaans gekozen voor het bekendste nummer van de artiest, en dat is niet altijd de favoriet van fans. Daarnaast was het voor sommige artiesten ook gewoon moeilijk om het beste/bekendste nummer te kiezen...
