Toen ik aan het eind van mijn vorige Artiesten KO eens ging kijken welke favoriete artiest(en) nog niet aan bod geweest waren, kwam Mike Oldfield bovendrijven. Die heb ik toen dus in de wachtrij gezet. Daarna begon ik me af te vragen of Mike Oldfield zich wel zo leende voor dit spelletje. De competitie tussen de plaatkanten uit (met name) de jaren '70 en de catchy popliedjes uit de jaren '80 heeft toch een vrij hoog appels-en-perengehalte. Maar om een lang verhaal kort te maken: ik heb het toch maar gewoon zo gelaten

Dat klopt geenszins... liefst zes selecties uit Crises, ik was enkel vergeten ze in het overzicht te zetten. Bij deze aangepast, dank voor de opmerkzaamheid!

Maar what about In Dulci Jubilo, Portsmouth, Guilty en Blue Peter?

Ai, de non-albumtracks zijn tussen wal en schip gevallen. Bij die eerste bekruipt me wel het gevoel dat we daar wellicht wat aan missen, maar die andere drie...?

Mistake, Crime of Passion, Pictures in the Dark en Shine.

Vooral Crime of Passion en Pictures in the Dark zouden niet misstaan hebben.

Je hebt nogal veel nummers uit Songs of Distant Earth bijvoorbeeld.
Of misschien een paar delen van Incantations laten vallen?

En waar vind ik al dat moois?

Ik snap even je vraag niet, Casartelli?

Ik heb inmiddels een EP "Take 4" gevonden met liefst 6 stemmen waarop een deel van je genoemde nummers staat. Ik had me voorheen inderdaad enkel op de albums gefocust. Waar komt de rest vandaan?

Ik kan mij in Dazz z'n aanvullingen helemaal vinden.

Wat een moeilijk artiest eigenlijk, voor een KO. Moeilijk in de zin van de keuzes die moeten worden gemaakt tussen nummers, lange album tracks, nummers die een half album beslaan of zelfs een compleet album (Amarok!) behelzen.

Maar geen zee te hoog!

Er is nog wel ruimte om wat nummers om te ruilen. Wat zijn, naar jullie inzicht, de prangendste aanvullingen uit dazzlers lijstje?

Eigenlijk allemaal, het zijn toch wel MO krakers, mooie uitgebrachte singles. Voor mij persoonlijk hoeven Mistake en Shine niet zo.

Oké, heren bedankt. Ik zal dazzlers lijstje minus Shine en Mistake opnemen ten koste van Magic Touch (Islands), Make Make (Heaven's Open), Weightless en Tattoo (beide Tubular Bells II) en The Tempest en On My Heart (beide Music of the Spheres).

Casartelli is een fan van Songs of Distant Earth.



Voor mij is het prima zo.

Damn dan moet ik dus elke dag een paar keer tegen een nummer van OMD stemmen
