The Boxer Rebellion blijft hoge punten scoren, heeft nu zelfs bijna dubbel zoveel punten als de 2de. Daft Punk is de hoogste nieuwe met hun nieuwe single, misschien kan die The Boxer Rebellion bedreigen of van zijn troon stoten? Andere nieuwkomers zijn: The Embassy (6), Float Fall (8), The National (18), Robin Thicke ft. Pharrell & T.I. (19). Ook Indiana is terug van weggeweest en komt binnen op 17. Flinke verversing, het enige nummer dat nu nog lang in de Top 20 staat is Joey Bada$$ (maar dat is dan ook een echte slechtkont). Sigur Rós staat er voor de 4e week in (verliest wel de #1-positie), de rest staat er maximaal voor de derde week in. De twee hoge binnenkomers zijn voor ieder wat wils. Kwaliteitshouse (The Juan MacLean) en folkrock (Kurt Vile). Veel top-40 spul, dat komt voornamelijk doordat Major Lazer en Pharrell zo staan te shinen. Pharell staat zelfs ook nog eens op de 2e plek in de tiplijst. De nieuwe single van Daft Punk staat dus niet eens bovenaan de tiplijst. Nee, want de singlebazen van anno nu hebben weer eens een nieuwe single. De komende weken zullen You & Me en Get Lucky wel de toplijst domineren. Verder weer een en al leukigheid in de top- en tiplijst.

Jawel, ik mag in dit illustere rijtje van deelnemers aan het Topic over de betere nieuwe songs best kiezen voor It's over van Rod Stewart. Ik denk dat ik de sentimentele kracht van het nummer ga gebruiken voor mijn eigen overstap als voetballer, komend seizoen van de reguliere 5e klasse naar de veteranen. Daar had ik al 15 jaar in kunnen voetballen maar na dit seizoen is mijn sportieve strijd tegen spelers van in de 20, 30 jaar wel voorbij. Lang volgehouden, mag ik niet uit het oog verliezen. Ja, een fijn nummer, dat van Rod Stewart.

De nieuwe single van de Rival Sons is trouwens ook van harte aan te bevelen, over de prachtige return van Black sabbath en het opzienbare nummer van The Drowners nog maar gezwegen.

Ja, komt inderdaad uit de tiplijst van Gretz. Merkwaardig dat ik dit nummer gemist heb, in je lijst. Ik luister eigenlijk alleen de nieuwe nummers en tips. Als je dan de enige bent met de Drowners en ik mis hem blijkbaar per ongeluk, kom ik hem ook bij iemand anders niet nog een keer tegen in de herkansing.

Maar toen ik aan het tiplijstje van Gretz begon, hoorde ik al na een paar noten gelijk het talent....

Wederom een nieuwe nummer 1! Daft Punk maakt een geslaagde comeback. Ik ben wel benieuwd of het album mij ook gaat overtuigen. Ik vind Daft Punk namelijk meer een singleartiest. Ook Pharell Williams is ineens weer helemaal HOT met 2 singles in de Top 10. En de nieuwe single van James Blake bevalt mij nu al stukken beter dan Retrograde.

Verder weer veel wijzigingen. Wat o.a. ten koste gaat van Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Jubilee Street. Een nummer wat ik nog lang niet beu ben, maar het moet het onderspit delven tegen een vloedgolf aan nieuw materiaal en ontdekkingen. De nieuwe single van Disclosure is bv. veel te goed voor de tiplijst.

Daft Punk moest wel op 1 deze week. Om daar de komende weken te blijven staan. Je hoort het overal, op de radio (2), in da club en tijdens het chillen met vrienden. En elke keer wordt ik er weer vrolijk van. Dat in de top 40 de laatste tijd kwaliteitsvolle muziek staat is te merken, want ook hit Sonnentanz komt binnen en het heerlijke Blurred Lines voert de tiplijst aan. Pharell is de held van het moment met al zijn fantastische bijdrages.

De nieuwe singles van de 'gevestigde orde' als Daft Punk, National en jammer genoeg ook Boxer Rebellion vallen mij een beetje tegen. Dan put ik maar uit het allerleukste: volslagen onbekende bandjes. Dit keer zit ik in een behoorlijke rockhoek te vissen: Findlay was eind vorig jaar al een leuke ontdekking met Your Sister en dan nu haar 2e single. Broken Hands heb ik ruim 1,5 jaar geleden al zien optreden als voorprogramma van Band of Skulls. Ze maakten op mij een enorme indruk maar een debuutalbum blijft maar uit. Wel de ene single na de ander waarbij Curves hopelijk eens hoge ogen gaat gooien. Daarnaast ben ik nog steeds enthousiast over Mazes. Wat een heerlijk nummer!

En afgelopen weekend hoorde ik Tofke (of Neon) 'Jack' van Breach droppen op Replay Festival in my hometown. Een herontdekking van jewelste. Daardoor schuift Breach naar stek numero deux.

Verder nog 2 nieuwe technoplaatjes in mijn top: Ethereal van Bodyscrub en Squirtle Squad (wat een titel!) van J. Tijn, een upcoming talent. Pinch + Roska & Milo verdwijnen uit de top 10.

Charlie Boyer and the Voyeurs grijpen dan weer terug op het NY van de jaren '70, want er zijn duidelijke echo's van the Modern Lovers en Television te horen. Hoe de droompop van Kurt Vile en de hiphop van 50 en Kendrick klinken ligt wat meer voor de hand.
