The Weeknd treedt met zijn nieuwe single in de voetsporen van Frank Ocean `s Pyramids. Wat een machtige switch zit er in dat nummer! En The Fuck Buttons klimmen gigantisch, nadat hun album en dus ook de volledige versie van The Red Wing is gelekt op het net.

Onder de nieuwe binnenkomers even speciale aandacht voor het relatief onbekende Safi & Spreej. Via Kobe & Bryant Fan liep ik hier toevallig tegenaan deze week. Alhoewel hun album mooiere nummers kent ( Sepia ) is hun nieuwe single ook zeker de moeite waard! Sigur Ros levert met Kveikur alvast beter materiaal af dan Brennistein ( de lage binnenkomst is vooral te wijten aan weinig rotatie deze week ) en de nieuwe single van Holy Ghost staat garant voor fijne disco stuiterballenmuziek.

Todd Terje `s nieuwe single stelt vooralsnog een beetje teleur. Na 3 minuten komen er een paar prachtige geluiden op je af. Jammer dat deze geluiden niet meer terugkomen in het latere verloop van het nummer.

Sophie - BIPP: Uitermate dansbare electro/house. Ik kan er verder weinig zinnigs over zeggen (ik heb de ballen verstand van deze muziek), maar wat is dit lekker! Deze sound snoeit overal doorheen. Heerlijke baslijn ook.

Ik val misschien een beetje in herhaling, maar James Holden is een genie Op zijn set bij Awakenings was Renata de afsluiter en direct daarna opende DJ Koze als toetje met Jon Hopkins. The Weeknd stijgt naar het podium, maar heeft concurrentie van zijn grootste concurrent (How to Dress Well is gastartiest op On Your Side en maakt net als The Weeknd zogenaamde "hipster R&B"). Verder doet de disco het goed, Todd Terje en Holy Ghost! stijgen flink. You & Me ligt er na acht weken uit en evenaart daarmee niet het record van Röyksopp en Susanne Sundfør (stonden negen weken in de lijst).

De nieuwe single van Holograms is een heerlijk postpunk meebrullertje.
Voorts selecteerde ik het friestalige Jitiizer. Zij maakten speciaal een single tegen de spierziekte ALS, waaraan helaas ook mijn maat lijdt, maar hij zit wel mooi in de videoclip.
