187: Demon Fuzz krijgt de volle mep. Dat zullen ze nodig hebben in deze sterke ladder met enkel goede nummers. Soul II Soul is en blijft goed. Erykah heeft leukere nummers, maar klinkt wel lekker in het gehoor. Gil heeft betere, maar desondanks blijft The Prisoner een sterk nummer.
188: Weer alleen sterke nummers. Sam valt buiten de boot met zijn grijsgedraaide Wonderful World. Hij heeft veel en veel betere nummers gemaakt. Valerie is ook zo'n doorgedraaid nummer, maar toch sterk en aanstekelijk genoeg voor 1 punt. Joi heeft hier een lekker nummer en grootheden Bill en Al vind ik min of meer gelijkwaardig.

189: When doves cry vind ik niet zo heel zwart klinken eigenlijk (een beetje funky misschien), maar ik vind het wel een geniale plaat (check die bass line ). Een andere van Aretha of Donny had misschien de 4 punten wel gekregen. Bebeto krijgt ondanks zijn irritante manier van juichen in '94 toch 2 punten.
190: Leuke ontdekkingen met "de rotary club" en LJ Reynolds. The River van Paul Pena vind ik gewoon een prachtig nummer, hoewel ook wat folk achtig.

189. Wat een aanfluiting is de tussenstand. Prachtig nummer van Gwen McCrae, vele malen beter dan de rest, zowel vocaal als qua instrumentatie. De saaiere nummers (en bekende stokpaardjes) verbleken daarbij. Prince komt overigens met een goed nummer maar dan krijg ik het al moeilijk om de punten te verdelen. Ik houd op z'n tijd best van Latin music, al hoeft Bebeto van mij niet verder te komen maar krijgt zeker de voorkeur boven de resterende twee.
190. Meer goede nummers in deze ladder met de mooiste van Paul Pena. I Am the Black Gold of the Sun heb ik nooit zo goed gevonden, zeker niet slecht maar blijft puntloos. De andere drie zijn redelijk gelijkwaardig al hoor ik Let's Stay Together liever van Tina maar dat zullen de meesten in dit topic niet met me eens zijn.

Ik hoef me toch niet schuldig te voelen hoop ik?
Deze van Aretha zou ik ook niet snel opzetten omdat ik het veel te vaak heb gehoord, maar ik vind het wel een veel sterker nummer dan die van Gwen McGrae welke ik qua tempo/ flow en compositie weinig boeiend vind.

Gwen vocaal beter noemen dan Donny en Aretha Ik zal Salvadore wel nooit begrijpen.

Niemand hoeft zich schuldig te voelen, hoewel ... gewoon luisteren

Ik vind Donny en Aretha doorgaans sowieso saai, zeker in deze nummers niks te beleven.

189: Bebeto kan er wat mij betreft niet hard genoeg uitvliegen. Het nummer heeft niks met soul te maken. De klassiekers van Prince en Aretha blijf ik heel goed vinden. Gwen's nummer kende ik nog niet al herkende ik wel gelijk de sample van Royal Flush . Donny's nummer vind ik wel okay, maar verre van zijn beste en ik weet ook niet of ik zijn uitvoering het beste vind.
190: Allemaal leuke nummers, maar Paul's nummer doet me het minste. Al en The Meters vochten om de 4 punten en L.J. moet het (nipt t.o.v. Rotary Connection) met het restpuntje doen.
