Nu dus al een meer gevarieerde lijst dan de vorige editie waarin we een finale speelden met vijf keer Marvin Gaye, drie keer Curtis Mayfield en drie keer Stevie Wonder. Vooral de 'nu-soul' heeft het goed gedaan met al drie nummers van de laatste twintig jaar in de finale. Persoonlijk ben ik heel blij met de toevoegingen van Sinnerman en Across 110th Street maar treur wel om het (wederom) ontbreken van the Dock of the Bay. Otis is sowieso de grootste afwezige tot nu toe, laten we hopen dat ie alsnog met minstens één nummer (en hopelijk is dat Tenderness) de finale weet te halen. Andere bekende afwezigen zijn The Temptations, Al Green, Gil Scott-Heron, Ray Charles en Michael Jackson. Vergeleken met de vorige editie zijn we (ook) Ben E. King, Marlena Shaw, Prince en Sly & the Family Stone sowieso kwijt.

De zekerheden D'Angelo en Maxwell juich ik enorm toe. Werd ook wel eens tijd dat dit soort artiesten de finale zouden gaan halen. Verder mis ik zeker Gil Scott-Heron, Ben E. King en Marlena Shaw. Ray Charles mis ik daarentegen helemaal niet. Otis hoort er natuurlijk eigenlijk ook bij. Misschien dat de heer Hathaway een plekje wil afstaan?

Helaas kan ik ook niet elke keer meestemmen,maar van mij had hij (ook) het volle pond gehad.

En plots is het weer bijna finaletijd! Geen Gil, Marlena of Sly is wel erg jammer. Gelukkig mooie dingen in de plaats, zoals wat recenter spul. Laten we er volgende editie nog een Erykaahtje bijgooien
