Tot mijn grote verrassing zijn mijn nummers 1 en 2 van vorig jaar nu omgedraaid. Ik kan me niet herinneren dat ik Violator ooit beter heb gevonden van In the Aeroplane over the Sea, maar het schijnt zo te zijn.
De hoogste nieuwe binnenkomer ten opzichte van mijn lijstje van vorig jaar is Sigur Rós op 3. Ook The Smashing Pumpkins komen vanuit het niets de top 10 binnen.

Wat opvalt is dat de meeste metalalbums flinke sprongen hebben gemaakt. Around the Fur is gezakt van 13 naar 26, terwijl Fates Warning (van 15 naar 8 ) en Megdaeth (van 9 naar 4) juist flink zijn gestegen.

Met het toelaten van meerdere albums per artiest zijn hier eigenlijk ook geen nieuwe artiesten binnengekomen ten opzichte van 2012, op de re-entries (uit 2011) van The House of Love en Massive Attack na. De top-6 is sowieso ongewijzigd gebleven. Tja, zo op zeker moment stabiliseert een muzieksmaak zich toch wel wat.

Haha, hoe ga ik dit uitleggen? Ik sorteer alles op aantal sterren en hier en daar laat ik een paar albums wat verschuiven. Voor de bovenste regionen houd ik gewoon vast aan mijn top 10, dus blijkbaar stond Violator toen hoger (wat ik me dus niet meer kan herinneren). Kwestie van een slecht geheugen blijkbaar.

Uiteindelijk nu dus 60 deelnemers. Inclusief mijn lijstje straks betekent dat dus 61. En wie weet wat er de komende uren nog binnenkomt.

Ik vraag me wel af: degene die laat hun lijstje inleverden, hebben die ook de afgelopen 2 weken wat (nieuwe) 90s-albums geprobeerd of...? Met andere woorden: hebben die er, net zoals ik, een echte 90s-week van gemaakt?

Dat was wel mijn bedoeling, maar uiteindelijk is het niet zo lekker uit de verf gekomen. Het is bij een paar albums gebleven. 'Een paar' in de meest letterlijke zin van het woord.

Nee, zelden. De amnesie slaat al vroeg toe ben ik bang...

Ondanks dat de deadline verstreken is, kan men nog een lijstje inleveren. Ik ben nog niet begonnen met rekenen.

Dat is waar. Waarbij ik wel eerlijk moet zijn door te zeggen dat ik voor de 70s en 80s-editie wat pm's rondgestuurd heb (waardoor je toch al gauw 10 à 15 deelnemers meer hebt). Deze editie heb ik daar geen tijd/zin in gehad.

Ik ken zelf veel meer albums uit de jaren '80 dan '90. Naar mijn mening hebben de jaren '80 veel meer een 'eigen karakter' dan de '90s dat hebben. Ik ben liefhebber van new wave en post-punk en noem mezelf een jaren '80 fan, maar ik vraag me af of er op diezelfde manier ook uitgesproken '90s fans zijn? De jaren '90 zijn toch een stuk gevarieerder met meer verschillende (kleinere) stromingen. Ik weet niet in hoeverre dat een rol speelt?

Tja, je hebt nog de Britpop- en de Grungefans in de jaren '90, maar dat zijn inderdaad nu ook niet bepaald de grootste stroming à la New Wave of Prog Rock, de voorbije decennia.
