Volgens Thrasher's Wheat komt er binnenkort een gelimiteerde Vinyl Boxset uit met de albums Time Fades Away, On the Beach, Tonight's the Night en Zuma. Alle albums zijn geremasterd (als was OTB dat in 2003 ook al eens).

Van een CD, Blu-Ray of PONO release is voorlopig geen sprake. Het zou hier de Original Release Series Volume 5 - 8 betreffen. Wat er dan met Journey Through the Past is gebeurd...

Typisch een Neil Young actie. Ben blij dat ik pas 29 ben. Weet ik in ieder geval zeker dat ik tijdens mijn leven nog zijn archieven geleegd zie worden.

Weegt niet op tegen die live optredens in de jaren '70

Nu kun je wel proberen ons jaloers te maken, maar daar trappen wij mooi niet in, Rudi.

Neil Young heeft in 1971 één volledig concert gegeven in Londen (en dat optreden voor de BBC). In 1973 nog een handvol concerten in Engeland en Schotland. Wembley 1974 met CSNY is niet zo bijzonder en verder is hij alleen in 1976 langs geweest. Vind Rotterdam 2009 een stuk beter dan Rotterdam 1976.

In Amerika en Canada waren ze beter af.

Pono wordt dus vanaf medio maart uitgebracht. Kost zo'n 400 euro, kan 128 GB aan muziek op. Dat is tussen de 1000 en 2000 liedjes. (Oftwel Neil's eigen albums alleen al)

Gisteren was Dave Grohl's documentaire over de Sound City studios op de VPRO. Er werd ook veel lof bezongen van het beroemde bakbeest van een audio-mengtafel die door Dave van de vuilnisbelt is gered. Neil Young was in deze docu uitgebreid te zien (en te horen).

Neil is altijd nogal retro-tech (zo noemt hij het zelf) gebleven. Behalve Dave Grohl heeft hij hiermee blijkbaar ook Jack White geïnspireerd (en beloond):

While i'm logged in I can also offer up that progress on NYA V2 is coming along very well.

It will not be seeing a street date in 2014, but is on track to be completed this year.

This is a very satisfying, yet large undertaking with there being the multi-disc box set, several NYA PS releases, the NYA ORS album remasters and a number of previously unreleased records from this archives era.

Lijkt erop dat 2015 ons veel moois gaat brengen... maar ja, eerst zien, dan geloven.

Had die Trunk Show nog niet eerder bekeken (dank daarvoor), maar ligt het aan mij of is dit zowel qua repertoirkeuze als qua muzikaal niveau een veel interessantere film dan het wél op dvd verkrijgbare 'Journeys'?

Trunk show is geloof ik ook op dvd verschenen!

Ik vind Trunk Show voor Neils doen niet heel erg goed. Tijdens die tour heeft hij veel beter gespeeld. Tracklist spreekt me ook niet heel erg aan. Journeys vind ik boeiender (wel wat vreemde shots af en toe).

Op basis van het filmpje hier vond ik Trunk Show afwisselender en de nummers daarop goed gekozen, terwijl ik Journeys in drie delen heb bekeken omdat ik mijn aandacht er nauwelijks bij kon houden. Verschil van mening dus.

Overigens is een dvd-release van Trunk Show mij wel degelijk onbekend?

Hij moet dan denk ik nog gaan komen, volgens mij staat hij al in de wacht sinds 2011 ofzo

Hij is al wel officieel vertoond en er staat al heel lang een rip online. Ik ben een beetje klaar met Neil Youngs uitstelgedrag, hij bekijkt het maar. Sowieso koop ik geen dvd's (meer), dus die download is voor mij voldoende.

Ik erger me dan weer aan het feit dat Journeys hier niet op Blu-Ray te verkrijgen is, alleen een DVD met een hoes doe sterk doet denken aan een bootleg. Misschien komt er ooit een box met Heart of Gold, Trunk Show en Journeys, dan wacht ik daar maar op.

Had Trunk Show op Blu-Ray een tijdje in pre-order, maar werd door de FRS gecancelt omdat het te lang duurde. Dat was alweer een paar jaar terug.

Ben het helemaal met hem eens, behalve het feit dat Neil Young zijn concerten zou moeten afzeggen. De mensen die naar die concerten gaan zijn immers niet per se degene die het land besturen. Neil Young is daarbij ook geen politiek figuur, maar een muzikant en entertainer. Prima zaak, maar dit is een verkeerde oplossing.
