Dit schreef ik een jaar geleden:
Het leek wat ambitieus, maar het is me gelukt! Ik heb dit jaar vijf volledig nieuwe binnenkomers in mijn lijst, waarvan er drie zelfs mijn top 10 hebben gehaald. (The Waterboys, Opposition en Propaganda.) Verder is er zoals altijd wel weer het een en ander geschoven, maar veel schokkends zit daar niet tussen.

Volgend jaar hoop ik weer wat nieuwe albums in mijn lijst te kunnen zetten, want de jaren '80 is een decennium wat ik graag verder blijf ontdekken. Ik merk alleen wel dat er ieder jaar meer nieuwe releases bijkomen waar ik naar uitkijk (omdat ik ook steeds meer artiesten leer kennen), waardoor ik steeds minder ruimte krijg om 'oude' muziek te ontdekken.

Zo'n grote liefhebber dat je er probeert eentje in je lijst te smokkelen?

Kwam pas op 9 februari 1980 in de LP Top 50.

58 lijstjes. Zaken die opvallen:

- De platen die gaan strijden om de top lijken bekend. Het gat met de rest is liefst 400 punten
- Slechts één plaat in de top 10 stond nog bij niemand bovenaan.
- Seventeen Seconds (The Cure) is 6 keer vaker genoemd dan Pornography, maar toch staan ze zij-aan-zij. Faith staat er overigens eveneens vlakbij.
- Van een aantal artiesten staat een behoorlijk verrassende plaat bovenaan. Twee stijgen van buiten de top 100 vooralsnog de top 50 in (en de magnum opi(?) laten het vooralsnog een beetje afweten).
- Drie top 30-platen van vorig jaar staan nu naast elkaar, maar buiten de top 80.
- Eén plaat die altijd de top 40 haalde, staat nu niet eens bij de bovenste 150.

Het gaat prima dus

Dit vind ik de meest interessante statistiek. Geen flauw benul welke albums dat kunnen zijn, dus ik ben reuzebenieuwd!

Zo, toch weer eens kritisch gekeken en wat albums eruit gehaald en vervangen. Maar de jaren '80 is toch wel mijn decennium geweest wat muziek betreft. Ik kan er zo nog een andere top 30 inzetten.

Had ik bij mijn jaren '70-lijstje al aangegeven dat er wat nieuwe binnenkomers te danken waren aan het spel 'Album Top 10 per jaar' van de heer zaaf elders op dit forum, in de jaren '80 heeft dit voor een gigantische verschuiving gezorgd.
Ik kende de jaren '80 gewoonweg niet zo goed. Ik dacht altijd dat er in dat decennium maar zeer weinig goede muziek uitgekomen was binnen mijn smaak, maar het afgelopen half jaar heeft me dat beeld erg doen bijstellen. Ik had nooit echt de moeite genomen om me er echt in te verdiepen, omdat ik nog genoeg uit de jaren daarvoor te ontdekken had (en heb!) en dacht dat er toch niet zo veel was om te ontdekken aangaande de jaren '80. Maar om tot representatieve lijstjes te komen voor het genoemde spel, ben ik flink gaan bijluisteren.
Ik denk dat een derde van het onderstaande lijstje 'nieuwe binnenkomers' zijn. Dat geeft aan hoeveel nieuws ik het afgelopen jaar ontdekt heb. Dat maakt dat het gemiddelde (stem)niveau van mijn lijstje flink gestegen is.
