(voordat overproductie de overhand nam, songs als Mad World, Start of the Breakdown en Pale Shelter spreken tot de verbeelding. Soms ietwat naïef, maar hierdoor juist charmant)

(de piek van Prince als popmuzikant waar al zijn kwaliteiten samenkwamen)

03. Duran Duran - Rio (1982)
(bevat met Save a Prayer een van de mooiste songs van de jaren 80, hierna ging het kwalitatief bergafwaarts met de heren)

04. Michael Jackson - Thriller (1982)
(Een klassieker, punt. Vind Off the Wall persoonlijk nog iets beter maar die komt uit '79)

05. The Cure - Pornography (1982)
(De suïcidale overtreffende trap van het gezelschap uit Crawley, love it or hate it. I love it)

06. The Police - Zenyatta Mondatta (1980)
(Argueably hun beste plaat uit de jaren 80, deze staat qua geluid het dichtste bij het geluid van hun eerste 2 platen, ben een groot bewonderaar van het drumwerk van Stewart Copeland, mede hierdoor hun plaats in de top 10. Sting mocht willen dat hij solo kan tippen aan zijn oude band)

07. Kate Bush - Hounds of Love (1985)
(Cloudbusting en de titeltrack zijn echte pareltjes waardoor ik me even in een andere wereld waan. Cloudbusting is een van mijn favoriete songs uit de jaren 80)

08. Camel - Nude (1981)
(Hoogtepunt van de heren o.l.v. gitaarvirtuoos Andrew Latimer)

09. Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms (1985)
(Ben geen fan van de geliktheid van Knopfler en zijn kornuiten, maar BiA blijft een meesterwerk. Een van de platen waarmee ik ben opgegroeid, de titeltrack is prachtig, vooral de gitaarsolo aan het einde. Knopfler kan als geen ander een emotioneel gitaargeluid produceren, hij doet dit echter niet altijd)

10. Phil Collins - Face Value (1981)
(Het enige echt goede album van de kleine kalende drummer van Genesis, hierna zou Sky Radio de overhand nemen. Nimmer produceerde hij meer de kille woede die hij zo treffend wist vast te leggen in hoogtepunt In the Air Tonight)
