En dank uiteraard allemaal voor de trouwe inspanningen die zijn geleverd, 50tracks, ranboy, Martial, johan de witt, en Poeha.

LucM natuurlijk voor de nieuwe wekelijkse bespreking van de Tipparade.

Er lijkt met forse stijgers, dalers en een interessant aantal nieuwe binnenkomers een kleine storm te hebben gewoed.
Waarbij het verlies van Thin Lizzy zonder twijfel nog het meest in het oog valt.

Queen toch nog op 1 maar aan de top moet de echte storm nog gaan razen, het ligt allemaal heel dicht bij elkaar. Donna Summer lijkt te hebben afgehaakt.

Maar ook de nieuwe singles zullen zeker van zich laten horen.

Tipparade-lijst van week 24, 1976 - top40.nl

1. Bots - Zeven Dagen Lang
Iedereen kent ongetwijfeld dat nummer (of je moet van een andere planeet komen), het is een meezinger van formaat en blijft onverwoestbaar.
Cijfer: 8,5

14. Rod Stewart - Tonight's The Night
Zijn jaren '70 zijn de beste (hit)periode, vooral het refrein en zwoele sax zijn sterk en natuurlijk de schuurpapieren stem.
Cijfer: 8,5

25. Silvio - Angie My Love
Nu zijn wij in de vergeten hits beland. Klinkt als een Cats-kloon - en met epigonisme of naäperij kun je geen potten breken - maar minder toonvast en meliger.
Cijfer: 4

26. Lee Towers - You Never Walk Alone
Deze man doet ook niet anders dan coveren, dit is erg gemakkelijk scoren. Wil als een volleerde crooner overkomen maar zijn Engelse uitspraak is alles behalve.
Cijfer: 4,5

27. Linda - Johnny
Dit kende ik zelfs niet en ik had het beter zo gehouden. Wat een klef en oubollig gedoe.

28. Cameo - Find my Way
Eigentijdse funk als dit kan ik meer verdragen al irriteert die hoge stem mij op den duur en erg origineel is het ook niet in zijn genre.
Cijfer: 5

29. Richard Cocciante - Quand un Amour
Nu weer een Franse chanson maar ook dit nummer overtuigt niet in zijn genre, vrij cliché en voorspelbaar. Lijkt mij de voorloper van Patrick Bruel.

30. Fools Gold - Rain,Oh, Rain
Regen kregen wij nauwelijks in juni 1976, zij hadden dus niet te klagen. Lijkt mij teveel een (minder) aftreksel van Eagles al is het nog wel aan te horen..

De Bellamy brothers met een nieuwe, een ontluikende Bob Marley en Alice Cooper die de weg vrij maakt voor het toekomstige How you gonna see me now maar nu nog met I never cry.

Art Garfunkel draagt nog steeds zijn muziek met zijn stem, de Beatles met opnieuw een nooit eerder op single uitgebrachte track (zal vooral in de VS gaan scoren) en de Nederlandse band Limousine met een prima nieuwe single. Ik vind het van destijds de wat betere muziek uit Nederland.

En verder ja, als de trein van Fleetwood Mac eenmaal begint te lopen is er uiteraard geen stoppen meer aan. De singles werden net zo graag gekocht als de albums en het voordeel daarvan was natuurlijk de ultieme bekendheid met stadionrock daar uit voortvloeiend.

Say you love me is een echte FM klassieker, ook live. De song van Christine McVie stond ook op het live album uit 1980 Say you love me live, om het iets meer te laten swingen.

Goodbye And Thank You is de laatste single van Limousine met Okkie Huijsdens in de gelederen die hierna de band verlaat en dat gaat een groot gemis worden naar zou blijken, want in 1977 probeert Limousine het nog met de single Fancy Dancer, maar die faalt hopeloos …... op zich geen onaardig nummer al komt het nauwelijks in de buurt van de eerdere singles.

Everyday In Action is weer zo'n typische Dizzy Man's Band plaat, vrolijk en vol met 'gekkigheid' en over vrolijke plaatjes gesproken daar mag Rita Hovink zich met Ay Dolores bij aansluiten.
Het nummer roept bij mij herinneringen op aan de bloedhete zomer van 1976, maar dat geldt overigens voor meer plaatjes die in deze lijst staan

Ja en dan Frank en Mirella waar toch een heel verhaal achter schijnt te zitten, Frank (echte naam Frans Mortiers) schijnt niet zo'n heel fijn iemand te zijn als ik de verhalen zo lees op deze site

Ik weet niet of het Luc ontgaan is, maar het mag wel vermeld worden dat dit het origineel is van Waarom nou jij? van Marco Borsato, en dan is het ook wat vreemd om dit niet overtuigend te noemen...

Ik had Blue Oyster Cult ook bijna geplaatst, maar nog net op het laatste moment niet gedaan.

Het is fingerspitzengefuhl.
Ik begon te twijfelen over juni om meerdere redenen, de laatste week van juli ligt meer voor de hand, maar kan ook niet ontkennen dat RYM toch juni heeft staan als releasedatum.

Nu liggen juni en juli nog vrij dicht bij elkaar. Eerder hebben we gezien dat een nummer van de Bee Gees van Saturday Night Fever (alleen) in Italie werd opgevoerd in februari 1977, wat een fysieke onmogelijkheid is.

In dat geval, moet gezond verstand en inzicht (dat heeft gelukkig iedereen) de doorslag geven. Dat ligt hier moeilijker, Je zou kunnen zeggen dat bij gerede twijfel andere naslagwerken voor de zekerheid nog even worden geraadpleegd.

Alleen jezelf op 1 bron baseren, kan in principe leiden tot foutjes die hadden kunnen worden voorkomen

Ik had voor mezelf BOC "verbannen" naar mijn lijst van 26 juni, de laatste lijst van deze maand, met juli dan als volgende maand.
Dan kun je wat aan de vroege kant zijn, maar niet zo vroeg dat de volgende week niet de maand is bereikt dat volgens andere bronnen Don't fear the reaper uit zou komen.

Ik zie dat Poeha inmiddels ook heeft uitgevonden dat Hot Stuff van de Rolling Stones niet later dan 12 juni is uitgebracht. Hier heeft RYM het over juli, 45catcom houdt het inderdaad vagelijk ook op juni (VS). Dutchcharts heeft het wel over 10 juni, dat maakt de keuze makkelijker.

Het zou makkelijker zijn als de nummers gewoon de hitlijsten zouden hebben bestormd!

Enfin, twee goede nummers, daar niet van!

Spannend tot het einde, die puntentelling!
De verschillen zijn uiteindelijk weer minimaal en dit keer grijpt Sherbet de macht. Ik weet niet, of dat een goed voorteken is. Twee weken terug stond Thin Lizzy nog op 1, het nummer is nu verdwenen. Vorige week Queen op 1, nu teruggevallen naar 5. Als dat maar goed gaat.

Sherbet staat zelfs bij niemand op 1. Wel een tweede en een derde plek. Howzat is daarentegen het meest consistente nummer deze week, dat moet ook wel.
Opmerkelijk is dat ook oudere nummers nog kunnen plussen in punten, zoals Donna Summer en David Bowie dat deden. Door de goede prestaties van alle songs, vielen ze dan toch nog weer wat terug. Maar je zou puntenverlies verwachten.

En dan de soul: met Tavares, Real Thing en de al genoemde Donna Summer. Een prima jaar. Of kan ik het woord soul inmiddels vervangen door disco.

De oude Rod Stewart trekt zich in ieder geval nergens iets van aan en gaat zijn eigen weg. De Nederlandse hoes verschilt weer aanmerkelijk met die van andere landen. Zoveel oranje zou andere landen wellicht verblinden. Maar hier in Nederland doet oranje het natuurlijk geweldig..... Zou het management van Stewart daar uit commerciële redenen werkelijk over hebben nagedacht?

Tipparade-lijst van week 25, 1976 - top40.nl

10. Neil Diamond - If You Know What I Mean
Vrij standaard ballad maar niet zoetsappig en niet zonder spanning en overtuigend gebracht met smaakvolle begeleiding.
Cijfer: 7,5

18. Classics - Sunshine Baby
Paste wel perfect in de tijd van het jaar maar de zwakke Engelse uitspraak en dito tekst en het melige refrein doen mij een onvoldoende geven.
Cijfer: 4

19. Alquin - Fool In The Mirror
Deze band scoorde nauwelijks hits maar was toch één van de beste Nederlandse progrockbands die tijd. Dit lange nummer toont hun klasse en veelzijdigheid zonder in oeverloze bombast of pretentie te vervallen.
Cijfer: 8

25. Jesse Green - Nice and Slow
Dit nummer associeer ik ook met de hete zomer van 1976. Klinkt broeierig en funky maar toch fris met soepele soulzang.
Cijfer: 8,5

26. The Outlaws - Breaker-Breaker
Duidelijk geënt aan The Eagles maar iets simpeler qua songstructuur. Toch wel lekkere countryrock mede door de samenzang.
Cijfer: 7,5

27. Frank & Mirella - Amore
Melodisch valt het mee maar het refrein en de arrangementen zijn te klef om de tand des tijds te doorstaan met teveel clichés.
Cijfer: 4

28. The Beach Boys - Rock And Roll Music
Het klinkt wel als Beach Boys maar lang niet zo fris en krachtig als het origineel van Chuck Berry laat staan de Beatles-versie. Hun beste periode en inspiratie was duidelijk achter de rug.
Cijfer: 5,5

29. Steve Miller Band - Take The Money & Run
Zeer degelijke, tijdloze poprock met Beatles-invloeden en behoorlijk sterke tekst maar er zullen nog betere hits komen.
Cijfer: 8

30. Rita Hovink - Ay Dolores
Doet mij sterk denken aan Eviva Espanja van Samantha en daardoor niet erg origineel en vrij flauwe tekst..

En bij een warme zomer hoort ook zeker Kc and the Sunshine Band en Shake shake shake. Lang en heet, geldt zeker voor 1976.

ik had mij erg verheugd op Candy store rock van Led Zeppelin. Het viel tegen, scoren zelfs een onvoldoende. Inspiratieloos. Ook Chicago krijgt een 6- de funk van de Rolling Stones idem dito.
Elton John schiet daar boven, nog net op tijd een goed idee bij zijn nieuwe compositie.

Mag ik even vijf jaar terug.

Ik wil maar zeggen, met uitzondering van John die de dans nog ontspringt, klinken ze vijf jaar later een beetje als dat ze aan het einde van hun latijn zijn. De nieuwe songs worden ook nergens grote hits.

Ik sluit niet uit, dat het ooit weer eens wat gaat worden. Al dan niet solo.

Het wordt wellicht tijd ook eens naar andere muziek uit te kijken, het is er haast een uitnodiging voor. Ik vind Blue Oyster Cult dan zeker niet onaardig om mee te beginnen.
