Nummer 22
Een aantal maanden later ben ik het wel helemaal eens met herman maar weer niet met de site 45cat.
Mijn nummer 21 komt van Blue en deze Italiaanse release kwam volgens 45cat al op 23 mei 1971 uit maar ik vermoed dat het 23 juni 1971 moet zijn. De A-kant maakte Mitchell tijdens een vakantiereisje in Zuid-Europa.
Het is opmerkelijk dat de Italianen het als eerste uitbrachten maar het zal met de kleur te maken hebben. Ik ben benieuwd hoe de Azzurri het vandaag in Londen gaan doen.

Nummer 34
Peret uit Barcelona scoort met zijn ezeltje nergens een grotere hit dan in Nederland. Ook in Duitsland doet hij het beter dan in Spanje zelf. Dit is dan ook een hit die menige Noordeling meenam van zijn vakantiereisje in Zuid-Europa.

Nummer 39
De uitvoering van Streets of London van Ralph McTell is die van de Amerikaanse LP "You Well-Meaning Brought Me Here". Deze single-uitvoering is Canadees en wijkt licht af van de Nederlandse en Engelse uitvoering die nog op single moet uitkomen.
Ik ben het niet eens met de Nederlandse wikipedia site waarin men de indruk wekt dat de single eerder een hit was in Engeland dan in Nederland.
Jullie raden het al, de inspiratie van dit lied komt van zijn reisjes door Europa. Het gaat wellicht meer over Parijs dan over Londen maar Ralph McTell maakte er een thuiswedstrijd van. Ik ben benieuwd hoe zijn landgenoten vandaag hun thuisvoordeel zullen gaan uitbuiten.

Mijn hoogste binnenkomer op nummer 24 kwam tegelijkertijd (op 17 juli 1971) op nummer 98 binnen in de Amerikaanse Billboard HOT 100. Daar ging ie tergend langzaam omhoog totdat die in de 12e week in oktober 1971 aldaar de eerste plaats bereikte.
Ik verwacht bij mij een iets andere chart run. Bij mij is 12 weken nog steeds het record qua langste duur in de top 40. Toch was het destijds een plaat die ook langzaam bij mij beklijfde. Ik denk dat als ik in 1971 lijstjes maakte de platen het langer zouden volhouden, ook al omdat mijn muzikale aanbod destijds geringer was (de nummers die bijvoorbeeld hieronder volgen kende ik destijds helemaal niet op single). In Amerika hadden ze ook niet verwacht dat de single van Rod zo'n grote hit in de HOT zou worden.

Dat verwachtte ze dan weer wel van King Floyd, mijn op 2 na hoogste binnenkomer. Die stond op 17 juli 1971 in de "top 20 spotlight, predicted to reach the top 20 of the HOT 100 chart". Deze haalde uiteindelijk daar als hoogste positie nummer 101. Voorspellen is lastig tenzij je dat na 50 jaar in retrospectief doet en het ook nog eens helemaal alleen bepalen kan.
Ik voorspel bij mij een top 20 notering.

Datzelfde geldt zeker ook voor mijn nummer 26. De Franse single release van Caravan is de op 1 na hoogste binnenkomer. De A-kant was in februari al een B-kant van de top 20 hit "Love to Love You" maar dan heb je volgens de Music Meter community de twee slechtste tracks van het album op single gezet.
In ieder geval vind ik deze B-kant (In The Land Of Grey And Pink) ook veel beter.
Het gehele album doet het ook heel goed op Music Meter qua waardering.

Het is inmiddels een traditie geworden dat ik slechts met de bovenste helft kom. Die is het makkelijkst te reproduceren.
De moeilijkste helft volgt weer later.

Helaas wederom met flinke vertraging de gezamenlijke weeklijst. In de zomervakantie van 1971 begon ik de TOP 40 beter te volgen, zodat ik nu met veel plezier luister naar de liedjes die ik toen erg leuk vond. Bij de exits zijn dat Co-Co en Black and White. Nog in de lijst staan Pour un Flirt, The Witch Queen en Chicago. Binnenkomer Borriquito was toen mijn favoriet en staat ook op de eerste LP die ik ooit in bezit had, een verzamelalbum met TOP40-liedjes.
Hoogste binnenkomer is echter de single van Joni Mitchell, waar ik pas nu kennis mee maak. Ik besteedt hier aandacht aan het B-kantje, dat licht mijn voorkeur heeft.

Zo heeft het veel luisterbeurten nodig gehad voordat ik de kwaliteit van Music In a Doll's House inzag (de nummer 6 in mijn album TOP10). Dit nummer kende ik nog niet en is ook weer langzaam aan het groeien. Als ik over een paar jaar weer een TOP40 moet maken haalt-ie vast en zeker P1.

Deze snap ik even niet. Beide nummers hadden we toch al gehad?

Die staat inderdaad fout genoteerd.
Het komt wel eens voor dat ik een andere uitvoering (nieuwe opname, verbeterde productie, andere radio-edit, live-uitvoering) bewust opnieuw opneem in een lijstje. Maar daar is hier geen sprake van.
