Daar had ik ook nog naar gezocht, en daarna overwogen als eigen keuze.

Natuurlijk, en allemaal (opnieuw) beluisterd.

Ach, als je de Stones, Beatles, Elvis, Borsato en Cliff Richard overslaat hou je er een stuk of 100 over. Da's wel overzichtelijk

Ooit zei iemand:

Voetbal is een spel waar 22 mensen 90 minuten of iets meer achter een bal aan rennen en op het eind wint Duitsland.

Naar analogie daarvan:

De Top 2000 is een 'radio evenement' (cursief) waar meer dan een half miljoen Nederlanders holhoofdig achter muziekgoeroe Frits Spits aan holt en aan het eind horen we Queen.

Of weet iemand een betere?

Voor de goede orde, mijn keuze is ieder jaar dezelfde: His Holy Bobness's 'Make you feel my love' of een ander mooi lied van deze Amerikaanse bard's 'Time out of Mind'. 'Love Sick' of 'Not Dark Yet' bijvoorbeeld, want ik blijf volhouden totdat een van deze nummers ten minste in de keuzelijst verschijnt!

En zoals Martin Bril vorig jaar al terecht opmerkte Bob hoort gewoon bij de Kerst!

Ik heb besloten om dit jaar maar eens drie lijstjes te maken.
Een lijstje met de zogenaamde epics (Worn Down Piano, Halo of Flies enz.), een lijstje met 'gewonere' nummers (Golden Brown, Sultans of Swing enz.) en een lijstje met Nederlandse nummers.
De scheiding tussen de eerste twee omdat ik het voorheen moeilijk vond om een goede balans te vinden tussen de twee 'soorten' nummers. En het lijstje met alleen maar Nederlandse nummers is ontstaan uit solidariteit met mijn Noordelijke afkomst(of zoiets).
Oftewel: naast Ede Staal ook nog andere Nederlandse nummers die mij toch op de een of andere manier raken... of dat nou diep (Nergens Goed Voor, Kronenburg Park) of iets minder diep (Het Smurfenlied, Een Beetje Meer) is.

De lijstjes zijn nog niet compleet, maar het zal niet lang meer duren. En dit alles wil overigens niet zeggen dat ik deze lijstjes ook alle drie in ga sturen. Dat zie ik nog wel

Mijn verhaal bij nummer 1:

Dit nummer van The Sound is mijn lied in sombere tijden. Tijden, waarin het niet zo goed gaat, zoals nu. Een tijd, waarin duizenden mensen ontslagen dreigen te worden in de thuiszorg en mijn moeder, inmiddels 84 jaar oud, ziek en hulpbehoevend is geworden. Op zo’n moment echter herhaalt zich, keer op keer, de tekst van “Winning” zachtjes in mijn hoofd:
