Twee grote hits maken plaats na er al meerdere maanden in te hebben gestaan, Eefje stond zelfs ruim een maand helemaal bovenaan! Nieuw vers bloed is er met fijne nummers van Bleached, We Are Scientists (ik wist niet dat ze nog bestonden!), de nieuwe Pumarosa, King Gizzard en z'n cheesy bandnaam en ook Bent Van Looy weet na weken tegen de lijst aan te hebben gehikt eindelijk een plekje te veroveren

Vorige week leek Teleman het nog moelijk te hebben, en leek de concurrentie zo hard op weg dat die heel snel langszij zou gaan. Maar Teleman heeft zich kranig geweerd en is juist weer uitgelopen. Daarmee pakken ze hun derde week op 1! De strijd om het podium was wel spannend, maar daar weten The Last Shadow Puppets PJ Harvey nu te vergezellen.

De bovenkant van de lijst is verder erg stabiel, met een enkele grote stijger (Prins Thomas, Pet Shop Boys) en een binnenkomer op 20. Het is de Vlaamse rapper Tourist LeMC die folk en hiphop combineert. Hij brengt het aantal Belgen in de lijst naar vier, waarvan drie keer Vlaanderen.

In de tweede helft gebeurt er wat meer. Onder andere Pumarosa komt binnen, met de langverwachte tweede single. Priestess was het allereerste dat we van de Britten hoorden en dat sloeg meteen enorm aan. Reikhalzend keken we dan ook uit naar meer muziek, en die is er nu in de vorm van Cecile. Het zet zijn eerste stappen in de lijst maar of het net zo'n succes als Priestess wordt...?

Ook zien we een featuring van Thom Yorke, de zanger van Radiohead. Dat is haast een garantie voor succes, en bovendien niet iets wat ie vaak doet. Wij luisteren graag naar zijn stem en het creëert meteen aandacht voor de relatief onbekende producer Mark Pritchard, die toch al sinds begin jaren '90 bezig is.
Chairlift vergaart al een tijdje punten met meerdere singles maar nu halen ze ook eindelijk eens de weeklijst met hun aanstekelijke synthpop.

La Femme is een naam waarvoor we aan aantal jaar terug in dit topic moeten. Toen deden de Fransen goede zaken met hun surfpop-single Sur La Planche 2013. Nu is er weer een teken van leven, het klinkt ietwat anders, maar valt toch weer goed in de smaak.

We komen terecht bij misschien wel de meest opzienbarende binnenkomer. Het zijn dit soort binnenkomers die het door de uitbreiding naar een top 40 net kunnen redden, binnenkomers die het van twee hoge noteringen moeten hebben. Ze kunnen de lijst een hoop extra kleur geven, zoals het geval van het enigszins bizarre Babymetal. Drie jonge, Japanse meisjes (van 18 en 16) die qua stem nog veel jonger klinken dan ze zijn maar met zo'n schattig stemmetje wel gewoon stevige metal maken. De K-Popliefhebbers Poeha en Sfeermaker zijn hier ook gezamenlijk liefhebber van. En wie weet zijn er nog meer users die het best kunnen waarderen, check het filmpje bovenaan maar. Het is in ieder geval bijzonder!

Tot slot valt Whitney, het bandje met Smith Westerns-leden, uit de lijst met No Woman maar komt ook meteen weer binnen met Golden Days.

En we verwelkomen een nieuwe Nederlandse belofte. Tosk heten ze, ze komen uit Utrecht, zijn geïnspireerd door o.a. The War on Drugs en Talking Heads en worden wel vergeleken met dEUS. Vind ik niet eens zo'n gekke vergelijking. Blue City is een mooie vondst van Sunderland!

En we nemen afscheid van enorme hit Kill V. Maim, waardoor we voor het eerst sinds lange tijd een lijst zonder Grimes hebben.

Flying Lotus Modeselektor, PJ Harvey, Burial, Four Tet, UNKLE. Toch best een aardig lijstje.

Echt tof trouwens dat het zo'n stabiele lijst is geworden. Is nu ook wel m'n primaire bron voor nieuwe muziek. Thanks Arrie!

Het lijkt hier Godomme wel een belangenbehartigingsorganisatie ter behoud van het muzikale erfgoed van de jaren '60 en '70! Fischer Z, Cheap Trick, David Gilmour en dan deze week aangevuld met Paul Simon, Santana, Graham Nash en David Bowie (weer).

Nu kan het expres zijn, toevallig óf zou het toch ook nog gewone ouderwetse, degelijke kwaliteit kunnen wezen, aangelengd met een klein beetje een modern geluid, zoals bij Paul Simon?

Dat laatste gaat niet voor elk oudje op. Santana, bekend van vele wisselingen in zijn band, heeft het schaamteloze idee bedacht zijn band uit 1971 ten tijde van Santana III op te trommelen (allemaal nog in leven!) en een evenzo schaamteloos goed geluid als in 1971 neer te zetten. Alsof er geen 45 jaren zijn verstreken.

Het doet haast allemaal een beetje vergeten, dat er in deze periode ook prachtige goede songs zijn uitgebracht door Royal Blood, Nothing, Eagulls, Band of Skulls en The War on Drugs. Ze houden misschien een beetje eerbiedig afstand. Maar die bands, daar kun je over 40 jaar nog eens op terug komen. Dat redden die oudjes niet meer.

Ondanks dat ik nu zelf de deur uit ga voor Peter Hook & The Light, is er vanavond natuurlijk wel weer een Meesterproef op Orinoco Radio. Er draait al een playlistje en vanaf 21u is er gewoon weer de countdown van 25 naar 1, keurig vooraf opgenomen en niet van live te onderscheiden Het is een erg fijn lijstje deze week, dus tune vooral in!

Ik heb al een tijdje Mexrrissey in mijn tiplijst staan, had hem eigenlijk al wel bij johan de witt in zijn top 20 verwacht

Ja, ik heb er wel naar geluisterd vorige maand toen het album uitkwam, maar de single die toen uit was, First of the Gang (El Primero del Gang), vond ik net niet goed genoeg voor een uitverkiezing.

Maar mooi dat deze ook op single uit is, maakt zeker kans!
