De jaren '60-editie heb ik helaas gemist (ondanks de attendering door Chevy), dus maar een extra lange lijst voor dit decennium. De gouden jaren voor de progressieve rock, die de lijst dan ook erg domineert. Uiteraard is daarnaast ook verschrikkelijk veel moois gemaakt, alleen dringt dat niet zo door in de bovenste regionen. In deze lijst best een aantal verschuivingen en ook een aantal nieuwe binnenkomers. Vastgehouden aan het principe van maximaal 2 per artiest en als ik eerlijk ben, speelt 'de waan van de dag' ook wel wat mee. Soms pakken bepaalde albums me op bepaalde dagen meer dan andere. Daarom klopt de lijst ook niet met mijn top 10, maar dat kan over een paar weken zo weer anders zijn (of dan is mijn top 10 toch anders).

Dat heb ik dus ook. Meest extreme wapenfeit: Wishbone Ash - Argus staat dus helemaal niet in m'n seventiestopdertig terwijl het album hoog in m'n all time favourite top-10 staat. Belachelijk.
Maar dat album gewoon een lange tijd niet gedraaid en bij samenstellen top-30 'vergeten'.
Daarom vind ik die lijstjes ook eigenlijk zo gekunsteld allemaal.
Van de seventies kun je van elk jáár bijkans wel een top-30 maken. Zoveel goede albums, toen begon de muziek interessant te worden. Een top-30 doet meteen al tegelijkertijd geen recht aan 270 andere mooie albums.
Ik doe denk ik ook niet meer aan lijstjes mee.

Ah, het is weer even zomer en daarom gelijk een behoorlijk grote Beach boys connectie in je lijst

Precies, zo werkt het dus. Bij herfstig weer had er zo maar wat meer depressieve muziek in de lijst kunnen staan Gelukkig valt het wel een beetje mee hoe sterk mijn stemming samenhangt met het weer.

Hoewel ik Surf's Up een te sterke melancholieke ondertoon vind hebben voor de karakterisering "zomerplaat"... Overigens in grote lijnen geheel eens met het verhaal van buizen wat betreft de onmogelijkheid om recht te doen aan al die mooie albums. En dat geldt, wat mij betreft,
voor ieder decennium.

Doe eens gek, ga eens duchtig op onderzoek in de jaren '50 en '60. Of ga desnoods grasduinen in de barok van de 17e eeuw. Zo'n uitspraak als 'toen begon de muziek interessant te worden' is een muziekliefhebber onwaardig. Alsof we toen collectief het licht zagen.

Dat klopt natuurlijk ook wel, de vrolijke niets aan de hand surfliedjes is van ver daar voor. Mijn favoriete periode is 66 t/m 73. Ik heb verder niet zo veel met die succesvolle beginperiode en al helemaal niet met hun jaren 80 materiaal, Kokomo enzo brrrrr

Misschien wel het lastigste lijstje van allemaal. De jaren '70 (vooral de eerste helft daarvan) bracht een stortvloed aan geweldige zwarte muziek. Maar, ook liedjesschrijvers als Mickey Newbury, Gene Clark en Nick Drake kenden hun hoogtijdagen. Tel daar een aantal geweldige klassiekers (Unknown Pleasures, London Calling, Ziggy Stardust) bij op en een lijstje van dertig stuks zit gauw vol. Frappant genoeg blijk ik (onbewust!) exact dezelfde dertien platen als vorig jaar bovenaan gezet te hebben, zij het in een iets andere volgorde.

Tromgeroffel...
Bij deze heb jij mij neergezet als een niet waardige muziekliefhebber. Een nul. Helemaal geen muziekliefhebber eigenlijk, daar komt het op neer.

Voor de stokdoven, de blinden en zij die niet al een goed verstaander zijn van een half woord maar alles in drievoud zwart op wit aangereikt moeten krijgen en het dan liever nog niet snappen:
In alles wat ik schrijf daar hoort voor te staan (moet gelezen worden als): "Mijn mening is dat...."
en dus niet: "Het is zo dat....".

Voor mij begon muziek pas echt interessant te worden met de seventies. Geweldig decennium!
Maar zie ook erg uit, nu al, naar de top-30 van de eighties straks! Want toen groeide ik pas echt in vol bewustzijn op als waardig muziekliefhebber. Pas veel later ontstond een hernieuwde belangstelling voor de seventies.

Ik zie trouwens Pere Ubu - The Modern Dance (1978) ook nog wel hoog eindigen in de overall-top-30 van de 70's. Komt de laatste tijd best vaak voorbij als nr. 1 (!).

Nee hoor, je moet dat niet lezen dat je niet waardig muziek liefhebt. Wel dat jouw uitspraak 'een beetje dom' was. Tenminste, zo kwam het bij mij binnen. Een nul ben jij zeker niet.
