Een klein tagje voor Vince vega, Poeha, Masimo, Sunderland, 123poetertjes, kaj_666, Gretz, Dance Lover, WhyNotSmile.. Kan ik nog een lijstje van jullie verwachten vandaag?

Weinig spectaculaire veranderingen in week 18: zelfde podium en wederom geen binnenkomers van buiten de Tipafrekening. Twee van die binnenkomers vinden we wel direct terug in de toptien. Daarnaast ook een kleine doorbraak voor grote stijger Paradise, waarbij ik nu eindelijk echt het gevoel krijg de volledige veertien minuten te worden meegezogen, een knappe prestatie van de heren.
Zoals al gezegd dus dezelfde nummer één, al blijft Marie Davidson Jerry Williams ditmaal slechts voor na een fotofinish. Misschien dat de rollen volgende week omgedraaid zijn.

Fijn sneeuwpopliedje met een catchy refreintje en een zachte stem, zo hoor ik ze enorm graag - zie bijvoorbeeld mijn huidige nummer twee Jerry Williams. Jammer alleen van de fadeout aan het eind, voor de rest meer dan prima. Ga zo door, Australisch meisje!

Feist ft. Jarvis Cocker - Century
Toch weer terug opgerakeld de afgelopen dagen. Century zet de lijn van Pleasure door, al zit er een iets scherpere toon in. De eerste keer luisteren kon ik de invloed van de Pulpmeneer nergens herkennen. Toen begon deel twee van het liedje, die toch wel een aangename verrassing bleek te zijn. Verder leuke berekeningen hoor Jarvis, maar what about schrikkeldagen?

FOURS - Stella
Door mij ook wel ‘die andere HAIM’ genoemd: het is wel duidelijk waar de dame en drie heren hun inspiratie vandaan hebben. Gooi er ook nog maar een scheut Florence Welsh bij en je hebt het plaatje helemaal compleet. Zeker niet onaardig hoor, vooral hun EP-tje uit 2015 mag er zeker zijn. En vooruit, deze nieuwe is ook best leuk.

Madeline Juno - Still
Madeline Hitmachine rijgt de ene na de andere nieuwe single aan elkaar, en dat al een dik jaar lang. Steeds vaker auf deutsch, een insteek die me erg bevalt. Dit is weer een sterke single, meer in de lijn van de pompende producties uit Salvation (Cliché, Stupid Girl). Ik vind haar ingetogen liedjes wel net iets beter, dus ik laat hem nog wel even dobberen in de Tipafrekening alvorens hem op te vissen voor mijn eindlijst. Gretz, heb jij je hengel wel mee?

Snail Mail - Thinning
Uit het lijstje van herman geplukt. Tamelijk nonchalant ingespeeld gitaarliedje met lekker warrig rifje dat, in combinatie met dito zang, me erg denken aan Lucy Dacus. En een beetje Courtney Barnett inderdaad. En die vergelijking is nooit verkeerd.

Wavves - No Shade
Heerlijk luchtig stukje poprock van de bovenste surfplank, zoals we het bandje eigenlijk ook al wel een beetje kennen. Klokt af na amper honderd seconden en gaat ook niet echt een richting uit, maar het zit zo boordevol positieve energie dat je aan het eind van het ritje toch met een voldaan gevoel achterblijft.

Dankzij kaj_66 presenteer ik de 18e weeklijst van dit jaar: The War on Drugs bewijzen een van de grote groepen van het huidige tijdsgewricht te zijn en pakken met een lang nummer de eerste plaats. En met weer een ander lang nummer is iets grappigs aan de hand (en hierbij quote ik Kaj): 3 mei is voorbij en prompt dondert Fleet Foxes de lijst uit Verder valt me op dat High Ticket Attractions van New Pornographers al 12 weken in de lijst staat. Dat is toch wel erg knap.

Dan de nieuwe binnenkomers: vrijdag verscheen opeens een nieuwe single van LCD Soundsystem, hun eerste sinds de kerstsingle uit 2011. Zoals wel vaker bij LCD Soundsystem zijn de echo's van Bowie niet ver weg; daarnaast doet het baswerk me wel wat aan dat van The Cure denken. Verder heeft het nummer een flinke drive zoals we gewoon zijn van James Murphy en de zijnen.

Marie Davidson is een jongedame uit Montreal die poëzie combineert met kille electro. Fascinerende plaat die bij mij ook al een tijdje meedraait. Weinig over te zeggen, ik denk dat je je het beste kunt laten meeslepen door de beats en ijzige stem.

Het album van Gorillaz wordt niet echt enthousiast op MuMe, maar er staan toch heel wat aardige singles op. Let Me Out is een van mijn favorieten: lekkere beat met die dromerige zang van Damon Albarn, functionele raps van Pusha T en die mooie doorleefde soulstem van Mavis Staples (77 en still going strong). Jammer dat niet heel het album van dit niveau is.

Feist is een favoriete zangeres van me sinds een jaar of 10, maar ik schrok toch wat van haar recente debuutsingle. Gelukkig revancheert ze zich met Century, dat wat venijniger klinkt en bovendien als kers op de taart een geweldige gastbijdrage van Jarvis Cocker in zijn typische fluisterpraatstijl herbergt. Opvallend trouwens, Jarvis dook laatst ook al op op een nummer van Feist's muzikale vriend Chilly Gonzales.

Van Big Thief had ik nog nooit gehoord, maar Mythological Beauty overtuigt me eigenlijk direct: mooie melancholische muziek met dromerige gitaarloopjes, persoonlijke teksten en een bepaalde subtiele tegendraadsheid die me erg aanspreekt. Fijne stem heeft zangeres Adrianne Lenker ook. Dank jullie wel voor deze ontdekking.

Verweggistan introduceerde Marie Davidson, terwijl 123poetertjes van Naive to the Bone een grote hit maakte. Wat een dijk van een plaat. Een hit die het verdient om in de bovenste regionen van de Afrekening mee te draaien. Het kruipt onder je huid. Gisteren voor het eerst binnengekomen in de wekelijkse Afrekening. Hopelijk wordt deze single de komende weken nog breder gedragen.
Hoogste nieuwe binnenkomer is de nieuwe van HAIM. Het niveau van de vorige singles wordt niet gehaald, maar misschien moet het nummer nog even groeien. Songhoy Blues - Bamako is fijne Afrikaanse bluesrock. En de 12 punten mogen komende zaterdag naar… België! Blanche komt binnen op nummer 26.

Het lijstje van deze week heeft een nieuwe nummer 1; een artiest die ook op één stond in mijn tweede lijstje in februari; Methyl Ethel; Ubu heb ik al de hele week in mijn hoofd zitten; en dat is best fijn eigenlijk (Why'd you have to go and cut your hair, en dat zo'n 100 keer , hoewel ik mij voor kan stellen dat ik het over een paar dagen irritant ga vinden .
Een ander nummer dat hard doorstijgt is Swimming with the crocodiles van the Veils. (Dank aan Sundance), Ook The War on Drugs; de hoogste nieuwe binnenkomer van vorige week naar de top10, net als CSH. Nieuw deze week Snail Mail met Thinning, stond vorige weken al in de tiplijst, het is zo'n liedje dat langzaam binnensluimers; het klinkt een beetje als Pip Blom; dus wellicht even wennen en je moet even een kans geven. (tip kwam van ArcadeMonkeys). En ik zag m ook al in een ander lijstje voorbij komen.
Een andere tip van vorige week, Sef, heeft ook nog net het lijstje gehaald, vooral vanwege een situatieschets van meerdere zinnen die je in drie woorden had kunnen uitleggen; da's best knap
