Wel, en sq is een beetje los van de soul, vanwege de voorbereidingen voor Roskilde (1-4 juli). Ik ben op dit moment dus niet echt aan het zoeken in de soul, waardoor ik toch weer kom met een funk-album uit mijn 80´s tijd.



Sweat Band - Sweat Band (1980)

Terwijl jullie kennismaken met deze wat vergeten, maar onder P-funk liefhebbers heftig gezochte plaat (Spinoff van Bootsy´s Rubber Band) zit ik dus in Denemarken volgende week. Bekende namen in het genre op Roskilde zijn Tech N9ne en Prince. Nieuwe namen die ik in elk geval probeer te checken zijn het Hypnotic Brass Ensemble en Choc Quib Town.

Ik heb voor een '80 r&b album gekozen van Luther Vandross. Na enige tijd is het ook gelukt om hem in de Hall Of Fame op te nemen (Artiestenbattle).

Ik verwacht dat dit te zoetsappig is voor een aantal mensen, maar ik hou er wel van. Bovendien vind je op de eerste albums van Luther ook prima uptempo nummers. Wellicht is dit voor een enkeling verrassend.

Veel luisterplezier. Overigens volgt mijn reactie op Sweat Band uiteraard nog.

Leuk Eens totaal wat anders.

De opener en afsluiter zijn best wel 2 jams, en meteen ook een mooi voorbeeld van Uptempo Luther vs. Ballad Luther. Benieuwd naar de rest tussenin!

Een klassieker wat mij betreft. Luther Vandross kende ik toen als de gastzanger op mijn ´avatar´-album, en ik kan me nog herinneren dat hij met zijn eerste eigen album kwam. Ben benieuwd hoeveel nummers ik nog ken (ik heb het album zelf niet).
