Inderdaad een behoorlijk hoog TMF-gehalte en niet per se de allerbeste nu metal die er is. Bij Guano Apes en Papa Roach betwijfel ik zelfs of dat wel nu metal is, maar deze twee hits staan nog als een huis. Verder prima nummers van Korn, SOAD, Slipknot en Linkin Park in deze top 10. Down with the Sickness mis ik wel een beetje, een avondje uit in de Stairway in Utrecht was rond 2000 niet compleet zonder deze knaller van Disturbed. Maar de echte topper hier is Deftones, dat vond ik vijfentwintig jaar geleden al en die liefde is eigenlijk nooit over gegaan.

TMF of Top 40, wat mij betreft is het de TROS-muziekfeest van de commerciële nu metal geworden. Wat een eenzijdige, supervoorspelbare arbeidsvitaminenuitzending is het geworden. En dat niet eens door de grote gemene deler, want ik heb op een paar uitzonderingen na alleen maar de geëikte namen gezien. Het is dat het gros mij wel prima bevalt, anders had ik gedacht: laat maar zitten bij zo'n weinig creatieve lijst. Volgende keer mag er wel iéts meer moeite gedaan worden. Al is het alleen maar even de algoritmes van Spotify, YouTube of de lijsten op bijv. RYM te volgen. Huiswerk om je geheugen op te frissen, heren. Tenzij er destijds ook niet meer geluisterd werd dan deze bands.
De beste band is evenwel duidelijk. Met twee vingers in de neus.
