Jackie Brown eigenlijk nooit meer gezien nadat ie in de bios draaide. Merk wel dat ik dan ook minder snel de nummers uit die film kies, maar dat nummer van Minnie Riperton kan ik echt niet omheen, zo mooi.

Verder wel opvallend dat mijn 2 favoriete surfnummers op de OST van Pulp Fiction staan (Surf Rider en Bustin' Surfboards). Was ik helemaal vergeten, ook lang geleden dat ik hem voor het laatst heb gezien.

Helaas geen tijd gehad om mee te doen aan de Madchester GH. Aangezien ik die scene destijds volkomen links had laten liggen had ik me daar juist wel over willen buigen. maar dat doe ik nu alsnog nog met terugwerkende kracht. Zojuist weer de lange versie van Flowered Ups 'Weekender' geluisterd, een band die ik dankzij jullie heb leren kennen (in de 90's KO). Dit nummer is voor mij een van de revelaties van de afgelopen paar jaar. Wat een dijk van een epic: die zou bij mij sowieso op #1 zijn beland.

Tarantino: toffe GH!
Ik heb een paar nummers van From Dusk Till Dawn toegevoegd.
Die film is natuurlijk ook onlosmakelijk met [scriptschrijver, acteur] Tarantino verbonden. Inclusief de aller-, allergeilste scene in de filmgeschiedenis ooit en waarin Quentin zelf een hoofd-rol vervult (met Ms. Hayek in de ultieme lichaamsrol): ❤️‍ Salma Hayek ❤️‍

En ben ik werkelijk pas de eerste die 'Battle Without Honor Or Humanity' nomineert?

Tevens: Paul Revere & The Raiders is liefst drie keer door Quentin op een soundtrack gezet (Once Upon A Time In Hollywood), maar nog niemand die deze band ook maar een keer heeft genomineerd?
Tsja, de keuze is reuze. Ik kreeg hun nummer 'Hungry' ook niet in mijn Top 10 gepropt.

Dusty's 'Preacher Man' heb ik niet genomineerd. Een fantastisch nummer natuurlijk, maar ik heb er geen Tarantino-gevoel bij. Om de een of andere manier vind ik haar liedje niet passen in Quentins oeuvre: misschien te bekend, te "gospel", te weinig blaxploitation, te blank, te veilige keuze, weet ik veel.
Daarentegen moet ik natuurlijk wel de evenzo blonde dame en mijn achternaamgenoot nomineren: zelfs haar stem heeft wel wat weg van Dusty. Geweldig nummer. Ik wil de debuutplaat van deze band waar dit nummer opstaat nog eens zien te scoren (hun tweede album heb ik).

Bleh, wat een waardeloze toevoegingen. En wat ik al vreesde: geen enkel filmmuziekthema.

Maar dan uitgerekend wel George Zamfir... Pfff, best wel aardig moppie hoor, maar ik weet niet eens hoe vaak ik de lp's van hem bij een kringloopwinkel (waar ik vrijwilligerswerk doe) in de kliko heb gemieterd, want niemand, NIEMAND koopt zijn muziek nog.

Verder tien leuke popliedjes hoor, soms zelfs te gek, maar een veel te hoog evergreen-arbeidsvitaminengehalte waarbij nauwelijks de Tarantino-vibe/stijl/hand in terug te horen valt. Deze nummer konden op elke willekeurige verzamelaar staan.

Wat mij betreft: elimineer ze gelijk allemaal maar weer, m.u.v. The 5.6.7.8's natuurlijk.
Oh, en Jeepster mag er ook wel uit, ten faveure van Bill Withers.
Vergeleken met deze elf toevoegingen was de startlijst al perfect genoeg.
