Nieuwe nummers op #1, #3, #5, #7, #10. Deze week is het vooral hiphop wat de pot schaft.

*Pusha T komt aanzetten op een supervette beat van Kanye;
*The Relate blijft een enorm aanstekelijk feelgood housedeuntje met die vreemde vocals (zijn het überhaupt vocals?);
*Dessa, een zeer getalenteerde femcee van Doomtree, komt met een follow-up voor haar debuut uit 2010 waarvan Warsaw de eerste (tekstueel sterke) single is;
*Lip van Chelsea Light Moving beukt er lekker op los - Thurston Moore ragt nogmaals heerlijk op z'n gitaarsnaren na een ingetogener plaatje in 2011;
*En ten slotte staat er met Hawk House een tweede UK hiphopact in mijn top 10 - heel erg soulvol, en net als bij Ghostpoet opgefleurd door vrouwelijke vocalen.

Holden en Hopkins stonden vorige week al bovenaan de tiplijst en nu komen ze binnen op #1 en #5, waarmee mijn Top 20 meer dance-georiënteerd dan ooit tevoren. Ook het aantal vrouwen in de Top 20 is opvallend hoog. En dan hebben we het nog niet eens gehad over de nummer 1 in de tiplijst, de kroonprinses van house. Benieuwd ben ik ook geworden naar het debuut van Kate Boy.

Afgelopen week weinig tijd voor nieuwe muziek gehad, dus er verandert ook erg weinig. The Flaming Lips had ik de week daarvoor al ontdekt maar ben ik meer gaan waarderen. Jon Hopkins is een erg gave ontdekking (althans, ik ken hem van zijn samenwerking met King Creosote, dat album is overigens ook een aanrader) en bevalt me zelfs beter dan Renata van James Holden, ik durf het bijna niet te zeggen.

The Boxer Rebellion blijft aan de leiding staan en dat al 8 weken aan een stuk. Opletten wordt het waarschijnlijk van Vampire Weekend die direct binnenkomt op plaats 4 of wordt het toch gewoon Daft Punk die het doet? Twee liedjes die terug in de lijst komen: Love It or Leave it en dat kun je letterlijk nemen bij dit lied en de videoclip. Daarnaast is Meltdown weeral eens terug in de lijst alsof het iedere keer maar 1 week op rij in de lijst wil staan. Andere nieuwkomers zijn: The National met hun nieuwste single, James Holden met zijn nieuwste creatie , The Juan Maclean die met zijn single toch nog wordt opgepikt door meerdere mensen, Dinosaur Jr. komt met hun rockgeweld ook binnen. Sleepers’ Reign komt de Belgische delegatie versterken en met Deafhaven zit er eindelijk eens een nummer 1 in de top 20 van Don. Afvallers: Editors, MGMT, Rex the Dog ft. Jamie McDermott, Small Black, Girls in Hawaii (allemaal na 1 week), Charlie Boyer and the Voyeurs (2 weken) , James Blake, Duologue en SX (alle 3 na 3 weken) .
