The Weeknd verovert met zijn Portishead-sample de koppositie. Ook Shadow Dancer stijgt flink. Holden lijkt eindelijk eens te gaan dalen, maar voor hem komt er een nieuwe single aan. Four Tet's nieuwe nummer krijgt veel negatieve reacties, maar ik vind hem wel vet. Al is het absoluut niet de nieuw Pyramid. Over Four Tet gesproken een van de meest bizarre nummers in de top-20 is door hem geproduceerd. Omar Souleyman was jarenlang dé artiest voor je Arabische bruiloftsfeest en probeert sinds een paar jaar het Westen ook te gaan veroveren.

Ik kon mijzelf niet meer inhouden en heb de lijst uitgebreid naar 25 nummers, het aanbod met nieuwe, goede muziek is veel te groot

Daughter is een vrij nieuwe band uit Engeland, waar ik de nieuwe cd If you leave blind van meenam, als aardigheidje. Niet alles vind ik even aardig van die cd, maar deze single mag er best wezen.

Met de entree van Haken en Rose Windows wordt de melodieuze, haast symfonische (hard-)rock in de lijst met twee prachtige nummers uitgebreid. De nieuwe single van Temples klinkt nog meer als sixties-pop dan dat het in die jaren zelf werd gemaakt. Terwijl de Black Angels de psychedelica van de sixties al mooi laten herleven.

Wavves is ook een band om in de gaten te blijven houden, net als White Lies en natuurlijk de Editors.

En dan laat ik nog verdwijnen:

Wat een single van These New Puritans. Doet me een beetje denken aan Boards of Canada's One Very Important Thought, totdat het meer richting een mix van pop en klassiek gaat. Het muzikale equivalent van Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life las ik ergens.

Ah een nieuwe Pet Shop Boys.

In eerste instantie vond ik het vooral erg op iamamiwhoami lijken, maar dan wat dromeriger. Eigenlijk is jouw omschrijving ook behoorlijk treffend.

Ze staat al een week in mijn tiplijst, dus ik zal volgende week proberen een plaatsje voor haar vrij te maken. Fijn nummer

Volgens mij is dit juist een oude. Van voor Vocal. Ik loop weer eens achter.
Persoonlijk vind ik Axis veel leuker, vooral omdat Neil zijn mond niet opentrekt. Ik trek zijn stemgeluid niet zo goed.

Ah, dan heb ik hem destijds gemist. Of te vroeg afgeschreven. Het album vind ik wel erg lekker.

Poliça heb ik deze week ook in mijn tiplijst gezet, maar die moet nog een beetje groeien.
