Ik weet niet in hoeverre ik het nummer van Jóhann Jóhannsson kan bestempelen als een single, want er is weinig over te vinden maar ondertussen al wel op de radio gehoord.

Ik lees net dat Cathedrals hun eerste ep uitgebracht heeft en plots kom ik Unbound hier tegen! Dat nummer is ondertussen al een jaar oud, maar is nog steeds leuk
Mocht je geïnteresseerd zijn: De hele ep is op SoundCloud te beluisteren (maar het lijkt eigenlijk totaal niet op Unbound).
Deze kende ik nog niet. Erg leuke nummers, vooral East of Eden!

Ha, dat was me al opgevallen ja, dat Unbound vorig jaar al was genomineerd, door jou. Of het nu om een rerelease gaat oid weet ik niet, maar hij wordt nu breder opgepikt, ook door radiostations. Ik hoor hem geregeld op Pinguin Radio, waar ik 90% van mijn inspiratie opdoe. Maar de nieuwe EP zal daar ook aan bijdragen. Het overige wat ik van hen heb gehoord is idd anders.

Van Zella Day kan ik zeggen dat zij juist déze week haar 1e EP heeft uitgebracht. Die muziek is wel redelijk vergelijkbaar met elkaar. Het zoveelste zangeresje maar wel eentje met een fijn indierandje.

En van Alumna is het leuk te vermelden dat het om een Nederlandse gaat. Daar kwam ik later pas achter. Leuk nummer idd.

En dit is hem dan: mijn tweeduizendste top 20! Hieronder ga ik wat dieper op dit heuglijke feit in.

The Tea Party krijgt de eer om deze jubileumlijst aan te voeren. Wat een kracht heeft deze song, en deze zanger!

Opeth scoort weer (moeiteloos) de hoogste binnenkomer, met het zeer on-single-achtige Eternal rains will come. De band met de zeer lange name (AYWKUBTTOD...) laat ook weer van zich horen en het (grotendeels) relaxte Kiev completeert de nieuwe oogst.

Op of rond 30 juni 1976 maakte ik mijn eerste top 20. Ik was toen net 10 jaar. De frequentie was eens per week, en dat is altijd zo gebleven. Ik maakte de lijst ook standaard op de woensdag, en nog steeds.
Mijn eerste hitlijst maakte ik al een jaar eerder, vermoedelijk in mei 1975 (ik was bijna 9 jaar). Dit was een top 10, die deels actueel was, en deels al ouder. Op 1 stond Robby van Peter Koelewijn (dat is mijn voornaam, niet toevallig). Na een paar weken maakte ik een tweede top 10, en steeds vaker, zelfs twee keer per week. In december ging ik over op de top 15; Bohemian Rhapsody kwam in die lijst binnen.

Eind juni 1976 werd dat dus een top 20. Ook dit was nog niet genoeg voor hitlijstgekke Robby, dus in 1978 ging ik over op een wekelijkse top 40. Nog bijzonderder misschien is dat mijn broers en zus korte of langere tijd ook tenminste een top 10 gemaakt hebben, en dat wij een familielijst samenstelden van maximaal 7 lijstjes.

Nog erger wordt het als ik vertel dat ik in 1986 ook een wekelijkse top 100 ging maken, met een derde puntentellingsysteem, en dat hield ik vol tot en met 1997. Inmiddels werd de hitmuziek steeds minder goed (in mijn oren), dus ging ik terug naar de top 40. En ondanks de zegeningen van het internet had ik steeds meer moeite om voldoende kwaliteit in mijn top 40 te krijgen, dus ging ik in 2012 terug naar de oude top 20. En dat hou ik nog elke week vol...

Hieronder de top 200 van 1976-2014. Uiteraard is deze op punten gebaseerd (daarna weken, hoogste positie en jaar van binnenkomst). De lijst komt dus niet overeen met mijn aller tijden lijst, maar geeft natuurlijk wel een goede indruk. Omdat mijn top 20 in de loop der jaren wat trager is geworden (vergelijk de Nederlandse top 40), zijn de laatste 15 jaar oververtegenwoordigd. Maar elk van de 39 jaren heeft tenminste één vertegenwoordiger. De nummer 1 heeft een toepasselijke titel.

- Sophie Ellis Bextor: heel inventief popliedje met barokke elementen en een uptempo tango-stuk in de laatste minuut. Tekstueel beïnvloed door Twin Peaks en Russische folklore.
- Morrissey: toch ook weer een mooi nummer, in dezelfde stijl als zijn vorige singles

Zelf was ik ook verbaasd over enkele noteringen, maar niet echt over de Doves, die liggen redelijk in mijn straatje. Opvallend lijken mij bij voorbeeld NERD, Urban Dance Squad, Animal Collective, Miike Snow, misschien ook Deftones en Deafheaven...

Ja, NERD inderdaad ook. En Mercury Rev met een minder bekend nummer op 2 vond ik ook wel verrassend. Die metal dan weer niet, die duikt wel vaker op toch? Zoals nu met Opeth.

Ik vond het ook wel opmerkelijk dat je hele top 100 bestaat uit nummer 1 hits. Vaak zie je toch ook wel een top 2, 3 of 5-hit die heel lang is blijven hoog in toplijstjes.
