Laat ik het eens anders zeggen: ik kan er met mijn pet niet bij Moby terug te zien hier. En die komt later ook in het gehele overzicht te staan, zo ergens tussen Otis Redding en Aretha Franklin in?

Ik heb werkelijkwaar geen idee waar je dat vandaan hebt.

Moby heeft momenteel 35 punten en komt daar mee ruim buiten de Top 50 van deze editie, zonder zeer wonderlijke inzendingen zie ik het niet gebeuren dat Play bij de bovenste 50 gaat eindigen en alleen de bovenste 50 per editie gaan direct door naar de grote eindronde waarin de uiteindelijke en definitieve MuMe "Zwart" Album 500 zal worden samen gesteld.

Ik begrijp dat het niet gaat gebeuren, maar mochten er ineens massaal Moby fans mee gaan doen, dan kan het wel. Daar gaat het mij om.

En veel hiphop toppers komen er juist maar bekaaid vanaf, terwijl dit decennium juist veel klassiekers heeft opgeleverd. Nas met Illmatic staat zelfs 12 in de MM top 250, maar wordt weinig genoemd. Ik draai 'm nu hard vanaf een 24 karaats CD: oh wat lekker.

Leuk stukje Lion.

Wel besef ik steeds meer dat het allemaal erg subjectief is en blijft, maar het is leuk om te lezen.

Massive's Blue lines heb ik ook op mijn lijst staan, en dit album vind ik een wereld van verschil met het zojuist genoemde 100th window (dat pas in 2003 uit kwam). Laatst genoemde is een veel killere bijna meganische plaat, terwijl Blue lines vol jazz funk samples zit als Billy Cobham - Stratus, Lowrell - Mellow Mellow right on, Wally Bandarou - Mambo en Tom Scott - Sneakin' in the back
Ook de raps op Lately en Daydreaming helpen mee. Het is verder ook een hele groovy plaat. Naar mijn idee veranderde hun sound steeds verder naar "minder groovy". Bij Protection (prima album weliswaar) is die lijn al ingezet.

Bij Portishead's Dummy vind ik de muzikale kleur heel anders, ondanks het veelzijdige sample gebruik heb ik totaal geen soul of jazz gevoel bij dit album (laat staan dat het funky klinkt) maar dat komt misschien ook vanwege Beth Gibbons.
Het is eerder een wat deprimerende, duistere, "slecht klinkende (maar zo fijn en eigen) samples" plaat.
Ik vind het wel een geweldige plaat die ik helemaal grijs heb gedraaid in de jaren 90, dus ik kan er mee leven dat ie er in komt.

De twijfelplaten laat ik maar achterwege, ben het daarin wel eens eigenlijk met de kritiek. Zou een Morphine dan ook weer ''zwarte muziek'' zijn? Spelen ook met een hoop met jazz- en bluesinvloeden. Goed, Ook meer dan genoeg moois zonder een Portishead
