20 Gabriella Cilmi - Sweet About Me

4e in Greatest Hits of 2008

Gabriella Cilmi is een Australische zangeres met Italiaanse roots. Ze was amper 16 jaar toen ze haar eerste (en enige) grote hit scoorde. Sweet About Me is een soulvol popnummer dat aan Amy Winehouse doet denken. Een eendagsvlieg, want sinds Sweet About Me heb ik niets meer van haar vernomen. Wie spontaan een tweede nummer van haar kan opnoemen, mag zich melden. Maar Cilmi is nog jong (van 1991), wie weet komen we haar binnenkort nog wel eens tegen in de hitlijsten.

19. Lorde - Royals

4e in Greatest Hits of 2013

Nummer 19 komt net als nummer 20 uit Oceanië. De Nieuw-Zeelandse Lorde was net als Gabriella Cilmi amper 16 toen ze wereldwijd doorbrak met haar hit Royals. Popmuziek die eigenzinnig genoeg is om muziekliefhebbers te boeien en toegankelijk genoeg om een breed publiek te bereiken. Misschien kunnen we dat wel een beetje over alle finalisten zeggen, aangezien het allemaal grote hits waren en ook bij een alternatiever publiek in de smaak vallen.

18. Infinity Ink - Infinity

2e in Greatest Hits of 2012

Fijn dancenummer van dit Britse duo dat een beetje in hetzelfde straatje als Disclosure zit. Aanstekelijk en meezingbaar. Veel andere nummers hebben ze nog niet uitgebracht, nog niet eens een volledig album. Voorlopig een one hit wonder, maar daar kan nog verandering in komen.
