Vier nieuwe binnenkomers in deze editie. Hoogste is op 19 The Church en dat mag voor een echte nieuwkomer doorgaan (heb deze nu 3 jaar). Het enige jaren '90 album van de Sparks met nieuw materiaal ken ik al van vrij kort na het uitkomen, dus dat is bepaald geen recente ontdekking, maar besef van genialiteit komt bij sommige bands met de (vele) jaren. Porcupine Tree's Up the Downstair is terug van een jaartje weggeweest en, hoewel vaak benoemd, maakt Änglagård hier toch echt zijn debuut in mijn toplijst, wellicht verrassend met hun tweedeling - maar Hybris en deze ontlopen elkaar zeer weinig.

De dynamiek gaat ten koste van Pulp - His 'n' Hers, Fates Warning - A Pleasant Shade of Gray, The House of Love - The House of Love en Manic Street Preachers - Everything Must Go. Voorts kan ik de sterke stijgingen van Awake (10 -> 6) en Songs of Faith and Devotion (24 -> 13) nog benoemen.

Geprobeerd m'n lijstje zoveel mogelijk op te stellen zonder de kennis van nu. Er is veel muziek die ik later ontdekt heb (veelal via MuMe) en die dus niet in de lijst staan Depeche Mode, Neutral Milk Hotel en Built to Spill bijvoorbeeld. De top 10 representeert nog enigszin een rangorde, 11 t/m 20 zeker niet. Verder wil ik nog kwijt dat 11, 14, 15, 16, 18 en 20 eigenlijk ook niet meer echt gedraaid worden, hooguit in een nostalgische bui.

Zoals altijd me laten leiden door de waan van de dag en uit de losse pols. Wat ik wel merk is dat de top volgens mij vrij stabiel is door de jaren heen. Heeft waarschijnlijk te maken met dat dit het decennium is dat ik begon met muziek luisteren. Dat kan natuurlijk aan mij liggen, maar die muziek waar je ontdekkingstocht mee begon, blijft me erg na aan het hart liggen en dat verandert toch minder snel qua waardering.

Mijn 90's-lijstje is al jaren min of meer hetzelfde, dus vorig jaar heb ik me voorgenomen mijn lijst dit jaar wat op te frissen. Met vijf compleet nieuwe binnenkomers, waarvan drie in mijn top 10 (Björk, RAtM en Oasis) is dat aardig gelukt.
