week 2 van 2024 met al de 2e nummer 1 van het jaar. Het gaat de komende tijd dringen worden zie ik nu al, niet alleen vanwege de binnenkomers van deze week maar ook van wat ik al klaar heb staan voor volgende week (gister uitgekomen/voor het eerst gehoord wacht altijd een week bij mij). Flinke opruiming weer van de 2023 singles, 7 binnenkomers, hoewel 3 daarvan ook nog 2023 singles zijn.
Low Girl, uit de UK, heeft al 2x op 1 gestaan bij mij, in 2021 en 22. Vorig jaar hebben ze ook met een paar nummer genoteerd gestaan maar 2 daarvan kwamen niet hoger dan 15. De nieuwe komt nu meteen al op 15 binnen, dat belooft dus wat. Heerlijk nummer weer.
Jess Locke uit Australië is ook al een ex-nummer 1 van 2021, daarnaast veel top 5 singles en haar album verkoos ik tot #1 van 2021. Nu is ze terug en de nieuwe single doet niks onder voor die van dat album.
Liam Gallagher vind ik vaak voor 1 album erg goed. Eerste van Oais, eerste van Beady Eye, eerste onder eigen naam... daarna wordt het steeds minder al valt dat bij Oasis met terugwerkende kracht nog wel mee. Nu samen met John Squire van Stone Roses en Seahorses, lekker 90s klinkend nummer met de kenmerkende zangstijl van Liam.
Parallel Park komen uit Nieuw Zeeland en zijn actief sinds vorig jaar,. niet eerder gehoord dan nu. Blijkbaar hebben ze voorprogramma van The Beths gedaan, wat dan verklaart waarom ze getipt werden. Fijne single.
Magnetas Court uit Birmingham is vrijwel onvindbaar online, alleen op Spotify, Apple en Tiktok staan ze. Lekker punkpopplaatje, hun debuut.
The Last Dinner Party heeft een hoop singles uitgebracht waarvan alleen de eerste bij mij genoteerd heeft gestaan, hoog ook met een paar weken op 2. Daarna was het het allemaal net niet voor mij. De nieuwste lijkt dan weer de beste sinds het debuut, kijken hoe lang die beklijft.
April June is een zangeres uit de UK die al een paar single uitheeft, dit is de eerste die ik hoorde. Dreampop ergens tussen NewDad en Tallies.

Deze week veel nieuwe aanwas in mijn lijst. Helado Negro brengt wederom een heerlijke single uit. Sofia Kourtesis blijft scoren, dit keer met een remix. Wederom pure magie van Four Tet. Hoewel Nederlandse hiphop mij zelden kan bekoren, ga ik behoorlijk goed op deze track van Igor.

Al een hele tijd geen lijstje meer ingediend maar gezien de vele fijne singles die afgelopen weken al zijn verschenen een ideaal moment om terug in the haken!

Mijn eerste nummer 1 van het jaar is het aanstekelijke retronummer van Lemon Twigs die hun inspiratie haalden uit de gouden jaren 60.
Stonden ook op repeat laatste dagen: het erg mooie duet van Waxahatchee en MJ Lenderman, Lucy Gaffney met haar ontroerende nieuwe single en het Ierse punkgeweld van Sprints.

- Lucy Gaffney uit Belfast bracht bijna 4 jaar terug alweer het fijne Can't Escape uit en ik dacht eigenlijk dat dat het wel was voor mij, maar de afgelopen maanden is ook Next Year boven komen drijven als countrypoppareltje. Het nummer heeft iets eindejaarserigs zonder kerstig te worden, best knap eigenlijk. En ook in januari gaat het nog uitstekend mee.
- Vorige week sprak ik DjFrankie bij de Bossche Popquiz en hij zei dat we eigenlijk nooit overlap hebben in onze afrekeningen. Maar misschien dat deze ENOLA ook wel wat is voor jou, Frank? Lekker galmende post-punk uit Melbourne met een goede zangeres (en het intro doet me aan Joy Division denken).
- Op 34 en 35 een energiek houseblokje met The Blessed Madonna en That Kid Chris.
- Als je de vorige van Sharon van Etten mooi, dan deze vast ook wel. Een van de betere indiezangeressen van haar generatie.
- Mura Masa's Rise is voor mijn gevoel typisch een productie van een millennial die niet gehinderd door enige hokjesgeest een fijn eigen housebrouwsel maakt van allerlei invloeden.

Meestal zit ik net voor herman op de maandag. Ik dacht ik doe m’n lijst eens op zondag en nu zit ik net na herman Deze week 5 nieuwe binnenkomers in de Trotse 30. Time To Run, de vorige single van Tycho, heeft de lijst net niet weten te halen, maar zijn nieuwe single Small Sanctuary komt meteen als hoogste binnen. Wel in de nimino remix die ik leuker vind dan de single edit. Ook nieuw Romy met één van de leukste nummers van haar album Mid Air. Nu ook op single. Verder nog nieuw het vette en uitbundige All The Same van Fat Dog, deephouse van Galcher Lustwerk en de fijne beats van Joe Goddard en Falle Nioke in Lonely. Het prachtige No FX is trouwens na één week alweer verdwenen uit de lijst, omdat het toch geen single blijkt te zijn.

Refresh! 13 beminden maken plaats voor evenveel prille liefdes.

Ren schiet weer raak met woorden, de lotgenoot scoort met treffende herkenbaarheid en een lekkere sound. De tweede Fat Dog had een weekje nodig om me helemaal te overhalen, ondertussen gelukt. Sea Girls en The Vaccines zijn trouwe klanten, de nieuwe singles klinken niet verrassend, wél prima. In hun vaarwater komen ook enkele minder grote bands hun kans wagen, zoals Smallpools met het aanstekelijke Night Shift. Het relaxe nummer Omah Lay heeft dan weer een zen-effect op mij. En bij voorbaat mijn excuses voor de aQuamagotchi-achtige worp van Super Rob, lijkt wel door AI gemaakt trouwens, 'k vind dat stiekem wel geinig.

Verweggistan, haak je ook weer aan? Of zal het pas voor volgende week zijn?

Ik hoop volgende week weer aan te haken, maar het zou (helaas) ook wat langer kunnen duren.

Middle Kids presteert deze week iets wat vermoedelijk nog geen enkele artiest bij mij is gelukt. De Australische band is deze week namelijk koploper, hekkensluiter en hoogste nieuwe binnenkomer. Terrible News is de nieuwste single van het album Faith Crisis Pt. 1 dat op 16 februari a.s. moet uitkomen.




Het zijn 'Happy Days' met My Golden Years van The Lemon Twigs, instant blijdschap met dit nummer. Library Card is een Rotterdamse band, die voor Well, Actually heel goed naar Sonic Youth hebben geluisterd volgens mij. De muziek van Sea Girls stelt me zelden teleur en dat is met I Want You to Know Me alweer niet anders. Waxahatchee is terug met een fijne nieuwe single waarop ze samenwerkt met de voormalig basketballer MJ Lenderman. Waar Miserable nog een opgepoetst nummer uit het archief van The Black Crowes was komen ze nu met een echte nieuwe single Wanting and Waiting, en komt er zelfs later dit jaar een nieuw album uit, vijftien jaar na het vorige.
