Vorige week was ik naar het concert van Art School Girlfriend en haar vriendin Marika Hackman speelde en zong lekker mee als onderdeel van de band. Diezelfde Marika Hackman is deze week de hoogste binnenkomer met de indie rock single No Caffeine. week 8 van 2024 waar Jess enigzins onverwacht nog een week op1 blijft, er blijven wel singles omhoog knallen us er gaat vast snel verandering in komen. Deze week ook weer 6 binnenkomers.
Massie99 is een band uit Nashville maar maken op hun debuutsingle lekkere punkrock in hetzelfde hoekje als bv Bratty, Vial en Cherym. Lekker kort en puntig nummer.
The Courettes zijn een man/vrouw duo uit denemarken en brazilie die al jaren lekkere garagerock maken. Hun nieuwe ook weer erg lekker, met orgeltje.
Lauran Hibberd komt alweer met een nieuwe na Mary, haar eerste nummer 1 bij mij na diverse top 10 en top 3 singles. De nieuwe klinkt ook weer vertrouwd.
Bess Atwell stond een paar jaar geleden nog regelmatig top 10 en zelfs nummer 1; met de single van haar nieuwe heeft ze het wat lastiger maar deze laatste klinkt toch wel weer zoals je van haar mag verwachten, gaat vast wel klimmen.
Waxahatchee komt met de 2e single van haar volgende album, na een duet nu gewoon weer op eigen kracht en lekker uptempo.
Hannah Grae uit Wales heeft al wat singles gemaakt maar dit was de eerste die ik hoorde, lekkere pop/rocker

Eindelijk is het RAFFA GUIDO gelukt om de top van de Trotse 30 te halen. Deze week fier aan kop in de lijst. Het was verder weer dringen aan de poort. Deze week 6 gelukkigen waarvan één nummer al in andere lijstjes staat: Lucky van Erika de Casier. Het duurde even, maar inmiddels heb ik het nummer stevig omarmd. Over Still Corners hoef ik niemand hier iets uit te leggen, alleen op deze pagina worden ze al 11 keer genoemd. Deze vond ik eerst wat generiek voor hun doen, maar na een maandje draaien ben ik er toch weer helemaal voor gevallen. Hele prettige muziek, fijne stem...

Dan 2 dansbare plaatjes: Romare zet gelijk een onweerstaanbare discogroove neer, terwijl Michael Mayer het wat subtieler houdt. Beide erg goed wat mij betreft.

Fat Dog kwam ik tegen toen ik door de RYM singleslijst van 2023 aan het grasduinen was en de singles uit de top 200/300 die ik nog niet kende beluisterde. Klonk meteen heel goed en mag na een paar weken binnenkomen. Stond hier al een hele tijd terug in de weeklijst, maar so be it.

Dina Ögon is een internationaal gezelschap uit Stockholm, dat zichzelf een bastaardkind van Fleetwood Mac, Eric B & Rakim, de Turkse Selda en Ted Gärdestad (Zweedse 70s tienerpopster) noemt. Dit nummer klinkt mij een beetje als het Zweedse antwoord op Khruangbin.

Anona tenslotte maakt folk, het doet me een beetje denken aan This Is THe Kit. Marci is dan weer Franse (80s) pop.

De samenwerking tussen Justice en Tame Impala staat op minstens 3 verschillende manieren genoteerd in de deelnemers hun lijstjes. 'k Geef het maar even mee aan de tellers van dienst. Finn-Man heeft dat vast wel in de gaten. (1) komt het meest voor.

The Mysterines zijn terug, Stray is de eerste single van het tweede album Afraid of Tomorrows dat op 7 juni zal verschijnen.




Het was voor het eerst dit jaar weer eens zoeken naar goede, nieuwe releases. The Buoys profiteren hier dankbaar van, want zij ontsnappen uit de Bubbling under en komen overtuigend binnen. Guard My Heart wordt ook iedere luisterbeurt beter, dus kan nog wel eens flink doorschieten. Nieuw werk van Kings Of Leon en Mustang is weer eens een heerlijke rammelende track van de heren. Maya Hawke heeft met Missing Out ook de stap gemaakt vanuit de tip- naar de toplijst.
