Er stonden meer fouten in mijn lijst. Ook de Warm Moving Bodies waren dubbel. Ik heb een nieuwe lijst hierboven geplaatst.
Op deze manier krijg je het druk, Hans. Excuses voor het ongemak.
Dank voor het antwoord op mijn vraag. Ik heb nog geen concrete plannen, maar een tweede deelname aan een topic sluit ik niet uit. Ik heb wel een lichte voorkeur voor topics die al een keer eerder zijn gedaan zodat je in rustige weken wat makkelijker vooruit kan luisteren om de drukke weken te compenseren. Vooruit luisteren kan sowieso met jaren die verstreken zijn wat makkelijker. In het topic 2024 zal ik daarom niet snel verschijnen.
Ik heb verder reisplannen naar plaatsen die ik nog wil zien, dat vergt ook veel tijd. Ik ben nog eens van plan om Bournemouth te bezoeken, schijnt erg mooi te zijn.

Zoals 50tracks al zegt, doe zeker Poole aan, voor mooie vergezichten aan de kust vanaf hoge punten, Poole is verder een kleine plaats met wel een leuk centrum. Als je in Southampton bent zeker even de veer naar Portsmouth nemen en ook Gosport en Fareham aandoen. En Spinnaker Tower is een absolute aanrader.

En Eastleigh is heel gemoedelijk, als je in Southampton landt ben je daar al praktisch.

Het wordt tijd om ook hier eindelijk eens aan te haken. Het jaar 1979 heb ik helaas gemist, maar gelukkig ben ik nog op tijd voor die heerlijke 80s. Het is al een feest om de vergeten discokneiter Midnight Message van Ann Margret in de etalage te zetten.

Ja, A FOREST is wat mij betreft wel de plaat van het jaar, laat ik daar kort over zijn. THE CURE laat hier zeker weten een band voor de lange termijn te zijn en we zullen nog lang van de muziek genieten.

Ook COMING UP van Sir Paul McCartney waardeer ik ten zeerste en het bijbehorende album McCartney II vind ik juist getuigen van lef. Mag het altijd graag horen, leuke plaat!

HERE COMES MY GIRL is van het type stoere bolster, blanke pit, met klasse gebracht. We can tell the whole wide world to shove it!!

Ik wist niet dat BEATING AROUND THE BUSH een single was, maar het is beslist een van de beste nummers van het HIGHWAY TO HELL album.

Afgelopen weekend 3 dagen Pieterpad gelopen en nauwelijks muziek geluisterd, dus ook weinig aanwas deze week. Volgende week ongetwijfeld een inhaalslag.

Wel blij met drie nieuwen:
- Mouzon's Electric Band's Everybody Get Down heb ik ooit leren kennen via de FabricLive cd van LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy en Pat Mahoney, die een duidelijke voorliefde voor mutant disco/post-disco laat horen. Heerlijke plaat.
- The Mekon's Teeth is lawaaierige post-punk.
- Sam-Jam biedt nog een restje disco uit 1979. De drums vanaf 3:36 lijken erg op Talking Heads' I Zimbra vind ik (of een ander Talking Heads nummer). Ben benieuwd wie van wie gekopieerd heeft...

Zo rottig als ik het misschien heb opgeschreven, bedoelde ik het niet

Ik moet toch zeggen dat ik aangenaam verrast ben door de (inmiddels) steeds grotere belangstelling voor ons ongeëvenaarde topic.
Dus natuurlijk ook welkom, Martijn.

Gezien de eigen bijdrage die je ook met nieuwe nummers al levert heb ik al helemaal het idee dat er niets meer hoeft te worden uitgelegd, behalve dan misschien dat de uiterste deadline voor elke week maandagavond 20:00 is.

Het totaal aantal punten dat we verdelen met z'n allen is dus weer toegenomen met 210 (in totaal overigens 2730) en dat heeft bij de eerste keer deelnemen altijd z'n weerslag op een aantal nummers. In ieder geval, de nummers die goed scoren bij de nieuwe deelnemer. En dus krijgt New Musik een boost, samen met o.a. Joy Division en Japan. Lipps inc. was aan de dans-kant erg blij met de punten. Anders was het verlies 17 punten extra geweest.

Bij een gelijk aantal punten wordt er gekeken wie de hoogste plaatsen heeft bij de deelnemers. Als het dan nog gelijk is, bepaalt de alfabetische volgorde van de titel.

En dan lijkt er in punten wel wat veranderd maar uiteindelijk zijn er slechts twee nieuwe nummers in de lijst The Cure, maar die zagen we op honderd kilometer afstand aan komen.

En DAF, die band hikte al een paar weken tegen onze Top 20 aan. Dus ook terecht.
Ik vroeg mij wel af.
Die titel.
Iedereen weet nu gelijk wat hij er bij moet denken, de vertaling is niet zo moeilijk. Maar ik denk in alle eerlijkheid dat ik in 1980 mij geen voorstelling bij Kebabträume zal hebben kunnen maken. Geen idee wat er mee werd bedoeld. Op z'n gunstigst at je een broodje shoarma na een concert. Maar kebab? Ik heb even de songtekst van DAF er bij opgezocht, had het nog een dubbele bodem. Nee, maar het komt wel tot de volgende opzienbarende tekst (im Deutsch):

Heerlijke tijd, 1980!

Ik denk dat de tekst satirisch is, D.A.F. was schijnbaar ook een linkse band. En eigenlijk is ie bijzonder actueel.

Jarenlang redelijk statisch en ineens neemt het toch een (kleine) vlucht. Zeker mooi om te zien. Tof al die extra input.

Welkom Martijn. Inspirerende lijst, dat zeker!
Ik wist het ook niet. Ik had deze op juli 1980 staan (45cat). Maar Martijn zit er zeker niet naast, hij staat in de Disco Action lijst in de Billboard Magazine van 5 april 1980 onder Detroit. Ik ga hem ook opnemen.

Mooi geschreven, helemaal mee eens. Ik mis natuurlijk wel wat illustere “joiners” uit het verleden. Met Martijn erbij zijn we nog maar een paar letters verwijderd van één van hen.

Verder dank voor alle toeristische informatie. Om even in de geest van deze quote en de muziek te blijven. Als je dan toch Southhampton niet kan vermijden ga dan naar the Joiners.
Ik zou bijvoorbeeld graag op 29 november The Total Stone Roses willen zien. Beetje voorbarig misschien, maar voor je het weet zijn de jaren 80 zo weer voorbij.
Ik heb in 1989 ook het Pieterpad gelopen. Als we zover zijn, help me herinneren, ik heb daarover nog een leuke muzikale anekdote.

De opvolger van Another brick in the wall in Nederland moest tot juni wachten, voordat uiteindelijk Run like hell niet verder kwam dan de tipparade. Alleen in de VS was er nog een derde single van het album The Wall en wilden ze met Run like hell niet langer wachten dan april.

Toch heel bijzonder, in het Verenigd Koninkrijk werd alleen Another brick in the wall als single uitgebracht.
En toen waren de Pink Floyd singles uit de jaren '60 al extreem zeldzaam. Niemand die daarover in 1980 blijkbaar dacht: Pink Floyd is een gewilde band, laat ik er eens wat singles van inslaan! Die zouden wel eens z'n waarde kunnen houden! Ik heb Run like hell nog gewoon bij V&D wat goedkoper gekocht zie ik, nadat het nummer uit de tipparade was verdwenen. Dat zie ik dan maar als een gelukje.

Wel een klassieker in de vorm van de nieuwe single van The Korgis. Met hun moment suprême, het drie keer daarna nog uitgebrachte Everybody's got to learn sometime. Nu ja, het is ook een echte klassieker. Ook al staat het al een paar jaar niet meer in de Top 2000.
Breathing van Kate Bush zou wel eens een kleine verrassing in onze gezamenlijke lijst kunnen worden.
