Ach, je hebt in elk geval de nummer 1 in je lijst. Duurt bij mij nog 3 weken voordat ik bij mij staat genoteerd (geloof dat ie toen Alarmschijf werd); dan doe ik nog effe mee voor de gezamenlijke. Gaat bij Temptation (entry in week 37) en Only You (week 42) niet meer lukken, vermoed ik. En die van OMD kwam ik pas een paar jaar later - maar inmiddels dus ook alweer 40 jaar geleden of zo - zo maar in de uitverkoop tegen; had daarvoor nooit geweten dat het een single was geweest.Top, vijf nieuwe binnenkomers. Het album is van september. De single is volgens mij op zijn vroegst in augustus uitgebracht. Ik vermoed dat dat is na het opnemen van de omstreden video, die de wiki dateert op 7 augustus.

Je hebt helemaal gelijk. Hier zijn 2 dingen misgegaan. Ik heb bij het downloaden van de Discogs-data per ongeluk een "single sided" LP als single meegenomen en de datum omgedraaid (8 mei ipv 5 augustus).
Dit lees ik in Cash Box van 14 augustus 1982:
"Don Van Vliet, aka Capt. Beefheart is shooting a video of his first single release in 10 years, “Ice Cream For Crow, ” out near his Mohave Desert digs. Daniel Pearl, who served as cinematographer for Tobe Hooper’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre, is filming Beefheart’s bizarro vid, said to feature lots of rubber spiders . . . "
Wist niet dat de video omstreden was, die ga ik tzt. zeker even kijken.

1982 - WEEK 21
ABC - The Look Of Love *****
Posion Arrow en All Of My Heart vind ik vandaag net iets beter. Maar het blijven drie klasse singles van één van de meest iconische album van het jaar 1982. Ik ben blij dat ik ze ook alle drie op 12" single bezit. Pas vorig jaar ben ik erin geslaagd om Parts 2 en 4 van The Look Of Love op CD te scoren.
PATRICE RUSHEN - Forget Me Nots ***
Ik was hem vergeten maar bij de eerste noten wist ik het weer: The Meninblack van Will Smith. Zoals al vaker aangegeven was disco of funk mijn ding niet. Maar tegen een lekkere groove zeg ik geen neen.
WILL TURA & DE RODE DUIVELS - De Rode Duivels Gaan Naar Spanje ***
Die derde ster is voor de nostalgische waarde van het supporterslied. Daarin worden de kwaliteiten van de typeploeg bezongen en die zongen wij alras mee uit het hoofd. Mijn idool Ludo Coeck scoorde vanop afstand tegen El Salvador met een kruisraket in de rechterhoek.
NORMAAL - Deurdonderen ***
Deze moest ik eerste beluisteren. Ik hoor Hank The Knife of Duane Eddy. Normaal zou lang een vaste waarde blijven in de Nederlandse top 40, ook in de jaren dat het Nederlandstalig repertoire wat verwaarloosd werd eind jaren '80. In Vlaanderen scoorden ze twee hits met het onsterfelijke Oerend Hard en het lekkere Heidi.
GOOMBAY DANCE BAND - Seven Tears **
Dit is natuurlijk een leuk liedje. Voor de mama's en de papa's. Maar niet voor deze twaalfjarige.
Sun Of Jamaica uit 1980 roept zoetere herinneringen op dan Seven Tears.
THE BEATLES - Beatles Movie Medley **
Vreemd plaatje dat blijkbaar in Nederland de top 40 niet haalde als ik me niet vergis. We zijn ondertussen al bijna anderhalf jaar na Stars On 45 en nog is het niet uit met die medleys. Twee sterren wegens overbodig.

Wat klare hits uit 1982, de klassieker van Survivor maar ook de Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder en Doe Maar.
Stevie Wonder had een paar prima songs geschreven voor een opwindende verzamelaar, Original Musiquarium.
De Rolling Stones deden verslag van hun wereld tour in 1981-1982.
Dan waren er nog (volgende) singles van grote namen als Lindsey Buckingham, de Talking Heads en Mike Oldfield die niet de weg naar de hitlijsten (in Nederland) wisten te halen maar die toch echt waren uitgebracht.
Maar ik hou deze week toch het meest van een andere band die onder de radar blijft, als band maar ook met de song Say you will.
Ik weet niet wat er hier gebeurd is, maar Blanket of Secrecy had hiermee gewoon een hit moeten hebben, gezien het gebodene en gezien de ontwikkelingen in die tijd.
Misschien nu dan in de herkansing.

Tips genoeg deze week; ik heb er maar weer 4 platen uitgegooid, al waren ze nog niet allemaal daaraan toe, om de nodige ruimte te maken. Avalon is natuurlijk het vlaggenschip van Roxy Music uit hun tweede sophisticated periode. Il veliero is een Italiaanstalige song van onze Nederlandse Chaplin Band (een cover van Lucio Battisti, en veel hebben ze er niet aan veranderd), een van de meest aanstekelijke songs aller tijden (mag ik wel zeggen), hij gaat nooooooooooooiiiiit vervelen!
Space age love song heb ik destijds niet als single gehoord, maar kwam ik wat later wel op het album tegen; misschien wel beter dan I ran. En Say you will is dacht ik een vergeten tipnoterinkje, die hier toch direct veel losmaakt. In mijn herinnering was hij nog wat puntiger en krachtiger dan als ik hem nu beluister; maar het blijft een intrigerende en indringende plaat.

Summer Is A Coming zingt Strawberry Vocal Choir en daar ik niks aan gelogen, want nog een paar weken en dan gaat de zomer officieel van start en deze lijst herbergt al een aantal nummers waar de zomer voelbaar is.
In Strawberry Vocal Choir zit o.a. Michiel Gunning oftewel David uit Popfoto één van de vele muziekbladen uit die tijd en degene die rond mijn leeftijd zitten roept het vast herkenning op.
Ook was Michiel jarenlang de partner van Marga Scheide (Luv) en is de beste man helaas niet meer onder ons.
Summer Is A Coming is een leuk zomers nummer die wel iets meer verdiende dan een Tipparade notering en is dit nummer ook terug te vinden op de legendarische reeks van Alle 13 Goed en deze LP heb ik hier nog liggen.
Nog meer zomerse klanken van The Chaplin Band met Il Veliero waar het zomerse gevoel helemaal los barst.
Dit nummer is overigens een coverversie van dit nummer.
The Nits zorgen al meer dan 50 jaar altijd voor kwaliteit en is Slip Of The Tongue de opvolger van Red Tape die het zeer behoorlijk deed in onze weeklijst.

Als ik She’s Leaving 44 jaar geleden had gekend, dan vermoed ik dat ze met die single de hoogste nieuwe binnenkomer waren geweest. En had ik bijvoorbeeld uit de lijst van ranboy de nrs. 10, 19 en 20 in mijn lijst gehad.

Hoogste nieuwe voor Siouxsie and the Banshees, één van hun beste singles volgens mij. Voor het eerst gehoord op de compilatie Twice upon a Time and me toen afgevraagd waarom die me nooit eerder opgevallen was. Waarschijnlijk omdat het een non-album single was,
Men at Work met een prima single, weinig over te zeggen.
Bonnie Raitt maakte in de 70s en 80s al een hoop muziek voor ze in nederland bekend werd, nu komt ze in de US charts binnen met een cover van de band NRBQ, lekkere uptempo gitaargedreven bluespop.
The Belle Stars dan nog met een nummer dat veel malen is opgenomen, de eerste die ik ken is van Dixie Cups maar het is al ouder. Belle Stars doen er hun ding mee.

Ja, is Parlophone i.d.d. Ook alweer 100 jaar oud 
Het haalde nog wel de top 40 in Nederland (3 weken, hoogste plek 35) maar in Engeland haalde het zelfs nog de 10e plek (VS nog 12).
Wat mij alleen verbaasde was dat het onder de naam Beatles is uitgebracht.

De a-kant van 1919 vind ik niet zo speciaal, maar de b-kant daarentegen... geweldig. Heerlijke post-punkplaat met een goed tempo. Verder opvallend is het debuut (althans bij mij) van Front 242. In mijn hoofd zo'n groep die hun hele carrière 4, 5 nummers is blijven recyclen, maar ze hebben dus meer.
The Dream Syndicate is een band uit de Paisley Underground scene, waar toffe dingen gebeurden. Fijne jangly indie rock dit. Het album Days of Wine and Roses uit 1982 is ook uitstekend - ik zet hem gelijk weer eens op. Deze lead-track van de gelijknamige EP staat daar dan nog niet eens op.

Adam heeft the Ants verlaten maar wel hun naam aangenomen maar het lijkt geen gevolgen te hebben voor zijn succes.
'Zijn allerbeste nummer' las ik bij iemand en ik denk dat het inderdaad een heel eind komt.
Wij hebben het als de hoogste binnenkomer en wie weet waar het naar toe gaat. De andere nieuwe binnenkomers, die al veel werden genoemd bij de users, zullen zeker geen verrassing zijn. Ze zaten ook al even te dringen, Japan, Madness, Iron Maiden en OMD. Wat is er mis met 1982 kun je zeggen als je die namen voorbij ziet komen.
Dat geldt overigens ook voor de namen van de artiesten die deze week uit onze lijst verdwijnen.
Voor de top 3 geen verrassingen, we kunnen wel even kijken naar het achterliggende veld. En dan vooral de opkomst van Echo & the Bunnymen en New Order. Daar zit opmerkelijk veel winst en en met name New Order haalt in de tweede week meer pluspunten dan in week 1.
Het is voor de tweede week op rij een lijst met vijf nieuwe binnenkomers, een behoorlijke schoonmaak. En dan lijkt het einde nog niet in zicht, met het dreigende verdwijnen van Jon Anderson, Tears for Fears, Asia en Yazoo.
Ten slotte valt mij ook op de magere resultaten van Duran Duran, eerlijk gezegd. Daar had ik dan weer meer van verwacht.

Tja, Hungry Like The Wolf deed het bij mij best goed, maar dat was 2 maanden geleden..
Mij valt op dat Planet Rock nog niet echt weet door te breken, toch een van de meest baanbrekende singles van het jaar.

Prima nummer dat Hungry Like the Wolf maar helaas is de concurrentie te groot en te goed op dit moment. Er zullen in de loop der tijd echt wel andere DD singles gaan charten bij mij (verwacht ik...).
