Ook deze week oprechte dank voor alle lijsten, de trouwe inspanningen die weer zijn geleverd, 50tracks, ranboy en Martial en Poeha.

En natuurlijk ook LucM voor de beoordeling van de wekelijkse Tipparade!

Dankzij Ranboy maar weer eens George Zamfir helemaal beluisterd, per slot van rekening, ken uw lijst! En het is rustgevende muziek in de typische, kenmerkende Zamfir stijl zoals we die kennen van het Thema van de Verlaten Mijn.
En vrij uniek, een nummer als dit is sowieso geen 13 in een dozijn. Het aanraden om te beluisteren zeker waard.

Poeha houdt zijn hele top 3 in zijn eentje in stand, inclusief de terugkeer van More than a feeling van Boston, in onze gemeenschappelijke lijst.

Voor het overige zijn we het behoorlijk eens over de top 5 met Queen uiteraard op 1. Is het niet in de top 2000, dan wel in onze lijst! Persoonlijk zie ik nog concurrentie van de Outlaws en de Sex Pistols. Voor de gezamenlijke lijst zie ik voor deze bands nog weinig progressie liggen.

Never a dull moment en deze week verscheen een nieuwe en langverwachte single van The Eagles, New kid in town.

De eerste van het komende hit-album Hotel California, ik hoef er eigenlijk nauwelijks de aandacht op te vestigen, het verhaal is iedereen bekend.

Voor platenmaatschappij Warner Brothers (waaronder Asylum records, het platenlabel van de Eagles, valt) was dit album Top Ace voor het komende jaar. Kosten nog moeite waren gespaard, het opnameproces was voor die tijd lang en uiteindelijk moest er ook nog een nieuw lid worden ingepast, Joe Walsh.

Het leek allemaal erg voortvarend te gaan, de platenmaatschappij had echter niet in de gaten wat er elders met een andere gecontracteerde band in Los Angeles gebeurde. Daar werd tegelijkertijd en in rap tempo met alles wat er aan los en vast zat, inclusief alle bandleden malaise, Rumours van Fleetwood Mac opgenomen.

Die zou, uiteindelijk, Hotel California op alle fronten verslaan, inclusief het binnenslepen van alle muzikale prijzen, zoals de Grammy award die hoort bij Album of the Year.

1977 in een notedop. De Eagles zullen er geen broodje minder om hebben gegeten en hebben globaal gesproken hun gehele carrière mooie verkoopcijfers kunnen overleggen, ook van menig Greatest Hits. De teleurstelling was er uiteindelijk niet minder om en feitelijk, als je de discografie er nog een op naslaat, was het muzikaal gezien met de Eagles na Hotel California wel gedaan.

Ik zie ook nog Elvis "springlevend" binnenkomen met een nummer van een recent studio album..... We gaan nog wat meemaken het komende jaar!

Ennio Morricone - Once Upon A Time In The West (week 43) krijgt een 9.

Tipparade-lijst van week 50, 1976 - top40.nl

1. 10cc - The Things We Do for Love
Niet hun beste maar vocaal en productioneel wederom klasse en ook sfeervol. Typisch een band die kwaliteit met hitgevoeligheid koppelt.
Cijfer: 8

21. Heart - Magic Man
Een nummer dat ik steeds meer waardeer en dat zijn de betere. Prima heldere vocalen en gitaarsolo's met spanning en afwisseling, wordt ten onrechte niet meer gedraaid.
Cijfer: 9

25. Clifton Chenier - Tu Peux Cogner Mais Tu Peux Pas Rentrer
De Franse Little Richard? Ik versta zijn Frans (met Engels accent) nauwelijks maar vind die accordeon wel leuk.
Cijfer: 6,5

26. Wally Tax - Let's Dance
Komt ouderwets over maar klinkt wel gezellig. Een Frank Sinatra is hij niet maar slecht zingt hij ook niet.
Cijfer: 6

27. Osibisa - The Coffee Song
Leuk salsa-nummer, klinkt vrolijk en exotisch en ook grappig. Veel beter te pruimen dan de huidige latin-hits.
Cijfer: 7,5

28. The Walkers - It so Crazy
Een vlot en vrolijk nummer dat radiovriendelijk is (al hoor je het niet meer) maar verder te weinig opvalt om bij te blijven.
Cijfer: 6

29. Julien Clerc - Le Coeur Trop Grand Pour Moi
Deze man heeft een mooie, gevoelige stem en tilt deze ballad dat wat standaard is de hoogte in.
Cijfer: 7

Ook deze week oprechte dank voor alle lijsten, de trouwe inspanningen die weer zijn geleverd, 50tracks, ranboy en Martial. Poeha had nog welgeteld 1 vrije dag voor dit jaar dus die moest nog worden opgemaakt.

Met de nieuwe lockdown tot 19 januari moet er ongetwijfeld voldoende tijd vrijkomen voor een wekelijkse lijst. Musicmeter is nog één van de weinige zaken die overeind blijven in deze pandemie!

Mooi dat we richting het einde van het jaar ruimte hebben voor o.a. Champagne en Boney M. Al was het alleen al, omdat de platen echt thuis horen in de laatste weken van december 1976. The things we do for love van 10cc (wordt volgende week), Somebody to love van Queen en Bombay van de Golden Earring moeten er om die reden ook bij.

Nog twee weken, dan kunnen we ons opmaken voor de eindlijst van 1976!

Daar zitten toch onvermoede krachten, bij de Outlaws, die de platentitel Green Grass & High tides recht moet doen.
Ik blijf volhouden dat het stramien keurig in de richting gaat van het onvolprezen Free Bird van Lynyrd Skynyrd, eind 1974 de nummer 1, vooral vanwege prachtig en langdurig gitaarwerk.

Verder veel nostalgie, koude winters en nummers die de Kerst van 1976 in ere houden, zelfs inclusief de vroege vogel Gerard Lenorman, die in het voorjaar Nederland in z'n greep zou houden.

Ligt ook in de categorie aanvaardbaar maar het is niet meteen een song die tot de verbeelding spreekt, daarvoor is het wat vlak.

11. André Hazes - Eenzame Kerst
Dat ligt mij minder en dat komt door zijn manier van zingen en de arrangementen. De tekst is nochtans niet slecht.

18. Status Quo - Wild Side Of Life
Status Quo was toen nog in goede doen. Dit is plezierig en swingend met simpele maar aanstekelijke riffs en stuwende baslijn, hun handelsmerk.

24. Showaddywaddy - Under The Moon Of Love
Dit nummer is ook plezierig door de erg prettige melodie en ritme en ook leuke saxofoon. Later wist ik dat dit een cover ws: Curtis Lee - Under the Moon of Love.

25. Linda - Nachten Duren Vaak Zo Lang
Dit is mij te temerig en oubollig al heeft het nog enige charme. De zang mag er wel zijn, doet mij denken aan Dana Winner.

26. Donna Summer - Spring Affair
Sensueel disconummer van Donna Summer. Het is de productie en haar zang dat zich doet onderscheiden van de meeste andere disco-hits.

27. Ry Cooder - He'll Have To Go
Een vaak uitgevoerd nummer maar dit is wellicht de beste versie dankzij de fleurige accordeon en gezellige kroegsfeer.

28. Pousette Dart Band - What can I Say
Kende ik niet, behoorlijk gezongen en geproduceerd maar verder vrij anoniem met te weinig aansprekende melodie.

29. Lucifer - Love Is Blind
Dramatische ballad met overtuigende zang, lijkt wel wat op House For Sale. Werd vreemd genoeg geen hit.

30. Boston - More Than a Feeling
Terechte klassieker door de sterke melodie en riff, krachtige zang en vooral de handclaps die het nummer afmaken.

Ook deze week oprechte dank voor alle lijsten, de trouwe inspanningen die weer zijn geleverd, 50tracks, ranboy en Martial en Poeha.

We zijn een week voor het einde van het jaar en wat voor jaar is het geweest! Ik geloof dat Poeha in zijn eentje Oliver Onions wel de Top 100 van ons overzicht heeft gekregen! Onze eindlijst zal volgen in de week tussen Kerst en Oud en Nieuw.

Ik zie dat Martial alvast een knaller voor 1977 heeft genoteerd, dat alvast een voorproefje zal worden van een geweldig jaar. Hopelijk strijkt hij, net als iedereen, met de hand over zijn hart om in ieder geval de jaren '70 van dit topic af te maken. We gaan qua verkoopcijfers en ontwikkelingen zo'n beetje de meest boeiende periode uit de geschiedenis van de muziek meemaken dus hopelijk blijft iedereen binnenboord!

En zo eindigt 1976 met een mooie knal! Deze week verscheen één van mijn allergrootste hits aller tijden, Go your own way van Fleetwood Mac. Een nummer waar nog maar weinig over hoeft te worden gezegd, dit is klassiek rockwerk van de bovenste plank.
De wereld zou nooit meer dezelfde zijn.

Maar daar waren toch ook nog andere, behoorlijke klassiekers, wat te denken van Cocaine van J.J. Cale en Lonely boy van Andrew Gold.

We maken kennis met Split enz., Cliff Richard telt ook nog zeker mee en Rob de Nijs blijft z'n idioom, de muziek, het beeld van hem als hoofdrolspeler in Kunt u mij de weg naar Hamelen vertellen, trouw. Dat belooft allemaal veel goeds voor het komende jaar.

En gelijk ook maar mijn top 100 voor 1976, dan heb ik dat maar gelijk gehad! Met de opmerking dat het jaar voor Al Stewart net lang genoeg was om de eerste plek over te nemen.

Toch een opmerkelijke prestatie en ik moet ook zeggen vrij onverwacht. Niets mis uiteraard met deze klassieker van het gelijknamige album. Maar ik had het vooraf niet voorspeld, alles draait uiteraard om het behalen van punten.

En dan kan het kwartje wel eens net toevallig de juiste kant opvallen. In totaal hebben overigens 240 singles in mijn top 20 gestaan, dat is toch een behoorlijk aantal en dan moeten de punten dus ook over veel nummers worden verdeeld.

De lijst spreekt verder voor zich, het zal niet al te veel verrassingen herbergen. En wat ik kwijt moet aan tekst, bewaar ik liever voor onze gezamenlijke Top 100!

Een kleine praktische vraag. Zouden jullie in dit laatste weekend jullie lijst kunnen plaatsen vóór zondag 12.00 of anders aangeven dat er voor 1976 geen lijst meer komt i.v.m. vakantie of feestdagen?

Dan kan ik zondag de laatste lijst van 1976 hier neerzetten en tegelijkertijd die middag beginnen met de Top 100 van het jaar 1976.
De eerste lijst van 1977 was in dat jaar toevalligerwijs op 01-01, dus een jaar met 53 weken!

Gaat mij deze keer wel lukken i.v.m. week vakantie

De lijst begint al redelijk overeen te komen met mijn oorspronkelijke lijsten, veel nummer 1 hits van toen zijn nu weer nummer 1 hits. Verschillen zijn er natuurlijk ook, Silver star, It's a long way there en Don't fear the reaper doen het in de herkansing (veel) beter dan destijds. Welke doen het zwaar minder? Dat zijn er niet veel, Heaven must be missing an angel staat relatief wel vrij laag, Love is under control en Rocky, maar alles wat toen een flinke hit was, heeft nu ook weer een plek gekregen.
Ik verwacht voor 1977 dat de verschillen tussen toen en nu nog kleiner worden, maar ook zal er de wellicht grootste hit uit de geschiedenis genoteerd worden, die oorspronkelijk nooit genoteerd werd...

1976 in de Top 2000

Ik zat even te kijken of 1976 het goed doet in de Top 2000. Er lijken volgens Radio 2 47 nummers uit 1976 in de Top 2000 editie 2020 te staan. "Lijken" want bij de hoogst genoteerde gaat het al mis. Heroes is beslist niet uit 1976 (maar 1977). Dat geldt ook voor Iggy Pop met The Passenger. The Last Resort werd pas in 1977 als single gereleased. Music van John Miles hadden wij in 1975. Ook Roxy Music en Golden Years zijn bij ons uit 1975 (of beginnen in ieder geval daar).

Een van onze toppers, Year of the Cat van Al Stewart, ontbreekt omdat deze bij de Top 2000 in 1977 staat gedateerd.
