Een mindere Abba, het nummer klinkt wat gewoontjes voor hun doen en mist de genialiteit van eerdere songs. Maar zelfs een mindere Abba is nog veel beter dan het gros van de huidige hitparade.

Lont mij teveel naar Bee Gees en het is ook wat gladjes maar uiteindelijk in zijn geheel nog te doen.

26. De Zangeres Zonder Naam - In Eenzame Nachten
Het heeft nog enige charme door haar herkenbare zang maar verder is het mij te oubollig.

27. Evelyn "Champagne" King - Shame
Niet bijster originele disco maar het heeft nog wel zijn kwaliteiten, met name de sax en gitaar die het nummer opfleuren.

Airport was hun enige hit, dit nummer klinkt een stuk vrolijker maar ook banaler.

Summer Night City vind ik juist wel een betere ABBA-single, omdat ie net wat minder lekker loopt dan hun meeste uptempo-hits en daardoor net wat spannender is.

LucM voor de prima bespreking van de nieuwe binnenkomers in de Tipparade!

92 singles deze week in alle lijsten, dat is net zo veel als vorige week.
Als een deelnemer van dit topic afvalt, scheelt dat 210 punten in de totale verdeling.
Er zijn dus heel wat punten ingeleverd door de diverse artiesten. Maar uiteraard alleen door die artiesten die Marzipaintree nog in zijn lijst had staan.
We zien gelijk een belangrijk gevolg van het puntenverlies. Alleen Japan en Blondie blijven een beetje uit de misère. De rest levert zo'n beetje allemaal in.

Behalve dan uiteraard de nieuwe binnenkomers.
En er zijn weer heel wat nieuwe nummers door de deelnemers aangedragen, in alle lijsten. Dat betekent ook heel wat weer afluisteren.

Dat is altijd spannend, aagezien mijn begrip co-efficient met Poeha meestal over de 65% ligt, dus heel benieuwd welk nummer dat is.........

Er dient zich weer eens een nieuwe stroming aan. Naast een fenomenale nieuwe single van Neil Young.
En dat is volgens mij de muziekstroming New Wave. De "aloude" punk wordt er vrij snel door vervangen. En de punkbands passen zich aan of verdwijnen. En, logisch gevolg, nieuwe bands dienen zich aan.

We hadden natuurlijk al The Police die zich heeft aangediend eerder dit jaar. Maar met veel plezier debuteert vandaag Fischer-Z met Wax Dolls en dat vindt ik nu echt een nieuwe band die mag vallen onder de New Wave. De muziek is behoorlijk minder rauw, meer melodieus. Maar nog wel maatschappijkritisch en duidelijk buiten de geijkte paden van de bestaande rockbands.

Dat maakt de komst van Fischer Z buitengewoon verfrissend eerlijk gezegd. Ook al zou de carrière van de band in eerste instantie maar tot 1982 duren. Maar dat worden dan ook wel een paar leuke jaren. Tijd om het album Word Salad weer eens uit de kast te halen.

Al Stewart heeft weer een nieuw album uit dat naadloos aansluit bij Year of the cat. Zoals blijkt met de single Time Passages. Het werd wel een beetje voorspelbaar. Maar het blijft natuurlijk goede mainstream rock. Waar ook Firefall zich bij dat genre aanmeldt.
Bryan Ferry heeft een sterke track van The Bride stripped bare afgehaald.

Met Firefall komt er weer een prima soft rock single binnen.

Meidengroep met gitaren, lijkt een kruising van Luv' en Blondie. Pretentieloze poprock maar veel stelt dat tenslotte niet voor.

Kende ik niet, wederom vrolijke en pretentieloze pop die de tand des tijds niet goed doorstaan heeft.

30. Snoopy - No Time For A Tango
Wederom vrolijke en pretentieloze pop, deze keer van een meidenduo. Heeft ook wat weg van Luv'. Stelt ook niet voor maar ik heb er geen hekel aan (liever pretentieloze pop dan pop met misplaatste pretentie).

LucM voor de goede beoordeling van de nieuwe binnenkomers in de Tipparade!

96 singles deze week in alle lijsten, dat zijn er vier meer dan vorige week.

Ik moet dus even aan Poeha vragen of het dus klopt, dat voor hem Love don't live here anymore van Rose Royce de grootste hit van het jaar is of dat we toch nog even moeten wachten. Want de spanning rond deze vraag was de afgelopen week uiteraard te snijden!

Hoe dan ook, Jeff Wayne leidt nog steeds soeverein. Niet alleen vanwege de eigen prestaties. Die worden elke week een paar puntjes lager. Maar ja, als de concurrentie ook punten gaat inleveren blijf je natuurlijk gewoon bovenaan staan. Niets mis uiteraard ook met The Eve of the War.

Verder een hoogst opmerkelijke nieuwe binnenkomer met de Buzzcocks. De vorige week hadden ze nog 28 punten en nu dus 21 punten er bij. Uiteindelijk moet dat natuurlijk tot opmerkelijk prestaties gaan leiden.

De Rolling Stones hadden gelukkig net deze week voldoende punten voor het laten binnenkomen van Beast of Burden. Het gaat nog niet van harte met de opvolger van Miss you. Het nummer was dan ook niet in Europa uitgebracht maar aan de andere kant van de oceaan. Wie weet hadden we hier wel betere plannen voor de Rolling Stones...... Als we dan toch praten over de betere singles van 1978!

Ha, ha, ik had er niet eens meer aan gedacht. Maar nee, Hans, dat is niet die grootste hit van het jaar, ofschoon het een geweldig nummer is. Nog 1 of 2 weken geduld.

Er is toch wel een frisse wind door de lijst gegaan. Het is lekker druk en daar loopt menig nummer tegen aan.
En dan bleek dat we in Europa een veel betere opvolger hadden gevonden voor Miss you van de Rolling Stones dan Beast of Burden, Respectable.

Een heerlijk vet Rolling Stones nummer, vuil, hard. Daar zijn er minder van dan je zou denken dus ik was er in ieder geval weg van.

Ook de Golden Earring rockt stevig door en er is de nieuwe van Toto. Maar ik zou ook Chaka Khan niet uitvlakken in populariteit.
