Weinig stijgers bovenin, omdat het allemaal weer goeie songs zijn.

Het repertoire van BZN liet en laat ik meestal langs me heen gaan, maar er zijn wel enkele uitzonderingen, en Marching on hoort daar zeker bij, een song die in hun top 3 thuishoort (samen met Mon amour, en hun allerbeste is Twilight, maar die moet nog komen). Nu nog eens beluisterd, en ja, hij klinkt nog steeds als een klok, een epos in 4 minuten.

Moskau van Dschinghis Khan kwam destijds bij mij tot 13, en dat gaat hij nu niet halen, maar toch wel een kleine notering. Aanstekelijke melodie.

11. Pussycat - Daddy
Vakkundige hoewel niet erg opzienbarende pop met verzorgde vocalen en een beetje country, doet mij denken aan hun eerste hit Mississippi.

17. Roxy Music - Angel Eyes
Ook Roxy Music verwerkt disco-ritmes in hun sound. Wel erg geslaagd door de arrangementen zoals de harp, de saxofoon en de riffs.
Cijfer: 8,5

22. Clout - Under Fire
Niet onaardige single hoewel wat clichématig met name de tekst. De zang is nog de sterkste troef maar dit is niet hun sterkste nummer.

23. Sparks - Beat The Clock
Ook neigend naar disco maar eigenzinnig genoeg en ook met new wave randje. Onweerstaanbaar ritme en synths.
Cijfer: 8,5

24. Jan & Zwaan - Ik Zoek Een Meisje
Hopelijk hebben ze hun meisje snel gevonden!
Cijfer: 2,5

25. Racey - Boy Oh Boy
Hun vorige hits waren best leuk (vooral de eerste) maar hun kaars was snel opgebrand, dit is mij te banale retrorock ondanks de leuke orgel.

26. The Beach Boys - Lady Lynda
Wat symfonisch getint en zeker niet slecht maar hun vocalen komen wat fletser over dan vroeger, de magie is er minder op geworden.

27. Good News - Australia
Kende ik niet, disco zoals er 13 in een dozijn zijn, doet mij ook denken aan Village People (zang, arrangementen).

Tegen die tijd was ik George Baker een beetje moe geworden. Vrolijk en zomers, dat is het ongetwijfeld wel.

Tot een aantal jaar geleden vond ik I Don't Like Mondays een goed liedje, maar toen steeg het ineens in waardering. Het kan best zijn dat dat over een aantal jaar weer minder is, maar nu haalt het de eerste plek.
Dat Zappa de hoogste binnenkomer is behoeft voor wie mijn voorkeuren kent geen nadere toelichting. De tweede behoeft dat wel. Tot gisteren had ik nog nooit van Louise Goffin gehoord. Ik kwam haar nummer tegen in de HOT100. Van de wiki heb ik geleerd dat het de dochter is van het schrijversechtpaar King/Goffin. De single komt van haar debuutalbum. Ze was toen 17. De discografie vermeldt verder singles in de periode 2016-2020.
Remember is een bluesrocknummer met gekke breaks die de jaren '60 ademen. Het B-kantje Trapeze doet me sterk aan Suzanne Vega denken. Het heeft bij mij een lichte voorkeur.

Remember is een cover van The Shangri-La's. Geweldige girl group song uit de 60's inderdaad.
De versie van Louise mag er ook zeker zijn, die gaat op de playlist voor volgende week.

Gary Numan en debutant Bauhaus zorgen voor een wat donkerder randje deze week.

Verder ben ik er na 5 weken draaien nog niet uit wat ik van GIno Soccio's The Visitors moet vinden. Intrigerende plaat, maar het kwartje wil nog niet echt vallen.

Wegens ziekte zou ik het een weekje uitstellen, maar hier toch nog m’n lijst.

Veel van de SPARKS is me onbekend, maar de hitsingles zijn zonder uitzondering altijd gaaf, zo ook deze BEAT THE CLOCK.

Uiteindelijk twee bands die beginnen met een ‘B’ die stijlistisch bezien niet verder uit elkaar kunnen liggen.

De sinistere tonen van BAUHAUS’ klassieker gaan er hier in als koek.

En dan, jawel, BZN, de Annie-bezetting die ik zeker nog op waarde kan schatten. Voor mij was het helemaal niets meer na haar vertrek.
Enfin, MARCHING ON is wat mij betreft een indrukwekkend, dynamisch gebracht epos.

Dat realiseer ik me nu pas. Als je me had gevraagd van welke groep is het origineel had ik het wel geweten. Trapeze is overigens een eigen compositie van Louise.

LucM Voor het fraaie overzicht van de nieuwe nummers in de Tipparade van deze week.
104 verschillende singles deze week in alle lijsten, gelijk aan vorige week.

Eerst even een administratieve correctie. Punten van Highway to hell van Ac/dc zijn vorige week terecht gekomen bij Highway Song waardoor de Australische band ten onrechte uit de lijst was verdwenen. Qua punten wordt dit gecorrigeerd, de lijst van nu houdt rekening met de 11e plek van Ac/dc van vorige week. Waardoor we de unieke situatie hebben dat er deze week slechts twee nieuwe binnenkomers hebben en er drie zijn verdwenen.
Kan dit? Ja, want feitelijk had de Little River Band vorige week niet genoteerd mogen staan. Die staat er nu dus een beetje voor spek en bonen tussen.

De Stranglers schudden deze wat conservatieve lijst deze week mooi op, met veel winst. Ik had dat niet gedacht, net zo goed als dat ook de winst van Nils Lofgren erg mee valt.
Daarentegen verliest Judie Tzuke, veel besproken, nu toch al weer punten.

En uiteindelijk heb ik van Tantra toch ook een zes minuten versie gevonden in plaats van de veel aangeboden clips met 16 minuten. Ik kan Chic, Sister Sledge en Michael Jackson nog goed hebben. Maar Tantra is mij inzake dansen teveel van het goede. Misschien komt er een kanteling in het genre, de tijd gaat ook snel. Maar ik hou het dan maar op de nieuwe van Siouxsie. Hoewel ik ook niet daar echt van onder de indruk ben.

Geeft niets, volgende week nieuwe ronde, nieuwe kansen!

Zowaar een drietal nieuwe debuten in deze lijst.
En dan heb ik het natuurlijk niet over de grumpy old man Neil Young die al deze starters uiteraard nog met groot gemak weet te verslaan.

Ergo, Young is zelfs in buitengewoon goede doen, klassiek Neil Young en Crazy Horse, hier in hooggewaardeerde bulldozer modus en geen blad voor de mond.
Ook het Electric Light Orchestra en Massada zijn geen nieuwe bands.

Maar er komt frisse nieuwe rock van New Musik. Een band waar het draait om de synthesizer en die behoorlijk populair was in de periode 1979-1982.
Dan moet ik bekennen ook nog nooit de carriere van de band Secret Affair te hebben gevolgd. Ook zij debuteren hier. En ze bestaan nog steeds. Maar ik heb hier iets gemist, in alle denkbare lijsten ook waar ik aan mee doe. Tot nu dan aan toe.

En dan Prince. Er mag worden gezegd dat hij in de VS al een paar singles 'warm' had mogen draaien. De Duitse persen (ook voor de Nederlandse markt) gaan pas draaien in februari 1980 en dan is er het debuut van Prince, in Nederland en Duitsland. Maar oorspronkelijk is I wanna be your lover in de VS al uitgebracht. Daarom komt het nu bij mij ook binnen. Overigens is in Nederland Controversy in december 1981 pas de eerste hit voor Prince.

Ik weet dat de vorige van Kiss verguisd word door de Kiss-incrowd, ben wel benieuwd of Sure know something wel mag, misschien dat fact jagers kaztor
musician en/of Marzipaintree dat weten, in ieder geval is het 1 van mijn all time favorites als ik een top 100 zou moeten maken.
Mijn andere entry met dank aan funko Poeha , door de titel even in de war dat Ultra Nate hier mosterd had gehaald in 1998 maar het is een totaal ander nummer.

Geen idee maar ik denk dat het omgekeerde waar is. Als onderbouwing: I Was Made for Lovin' You is sinds 1979 960 keer live gespeeld. Ook tijdens de huidige afscheidstournee staat het steeds als een na laatste track van de encore op de setlist. Lijkt dus iets wat de Kiss fans toch verwachten. Sure Know Something is in al die jaren slechts 41 keer gespeeld waarvan meer dan de helft tijdens hun acoustsche tournee in 1995 toen ze extreem veel nummers speelde tijdens de set (ik neem aan wat kortere versies). Lijkt dus niet een van de crowdpleasers te zijn. Ik vind het overigens een prima nummer.

Het is weer een klein rockwereldje. De hoogste nieuwe is deze week voor het geweldige Get 'Im Outa Town van The Laughing Dogs. Voor hun debuutalbum waar dit Get 'Im Outa Town vanaf komt, hergebruikte ze de cover van het niet uitgebrachte debuut album van Wicked Lester. Wie? In Wicked Lester zaten Paul Stanley en Gene Simmons. Zij vormden even later KISS. Die van Sure Know Something waar het in het vorige ietem over ging. Carter Cathcart van The Laughing Dogs heeft later ook nog samen met Ace Frehley songs geschreven. En zo is de rockcirkel weer rond.

Pôve Tièsse is al van vorig jaar, maar hier niet opgemerkt denk ik. Dit jaar opnieuw uitgebracht en daardoor wat meer onder de aandacht. Mooi bossa nova plaatje uit... België.

David Bowie's singles zijn in deze periode nogal talrijk. Lodger is zeker geen hitalbum, maar levert wel interessante hits op in mijn lijst. Deze is weer opvallend uptempo.

Stephen Encinas is een uitstekende discoplaat die Marzipaintree een paar weken terug onder de aandacht bracht.

De afspeellijst van mijn top 20 wordt er overigens niet korter op. De helft van de nummers duurt 6 minuten of langer en de 4 langste nummers duren samen zelfs 42 minuten, wel opvallend.

12. BZN - Marching On
Naar BZN-maatstaven een degelijke single met meer diepgang en zelfs vrij pretentieus door het orkest en de tempowisselingen al heeft het niet ongeschonden de tand des tijds doorstaan net als hun meeste singles.

18. Cheap Trick - Ain't That A Shame
Een cover van het aloude Fats Domino-nummer met veel power al vind ik het wat minder geslaagd dan hun twee vorige singles.

24. Rainbow - Since You've Been Gone
Ook dit nummer heeft power maar het refrein is wel poppy. De krachtige zang en degelijke riff vind ik wel de grootste pluspunten.

25. Bellamy-Brothers - If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me
Relaxte countryrock met prima samenzang, schatplichtig aan The Eagles. Ik kan er niets verkeerd over zeggen maar een topsong vind ik het ook niet.

26. Darts - Duke Of Earl
Oorspronkelijk van Gene Chandler (1962), Darts hebben daar een vrolijker versie van gemaakt met heel leuke koortjes en saxofoon. Oergezellig!

27. De Lenco's - Esmeralda
Dit nummer heeft een zomerse sfeer en klinkt gezelliger dan de doorsnee-schlager met leuke orgel en synthesizer, hier wil ik wel een voldoende voor geven.

28. Wreckless Eric - Hit And Miss Judy
Had een grotere hit mogen, neen moeten zijn, wat een vrolijk en plezierig nummer met zeer aanstekelijke gitaar. Wreckless Eric zingt wel alsof hij dronken is maar dit past perfect in dit kroegnummer.
Cijfer: 8,5

29. De Havenzangers - Daar Bij De Waterkant
De Havenzangers klinken wat oubolliger dan Lenco's en het is ook een cover maar geen slechte. Niet zo stroperig als hun andere hits.

30. Jo Jo Bennett - Leaving Rome
Instrumentale ska waarbij de melodie mij bekend overkomt. De productie en te overheersende violen dateren het nummer echter.

Werd weer eens tijd voor een relatief frisse wind door de lijst.

Top om NICK LOWE’s CRUEL TO BE KIND uit 1978 in iemand’s lijst te zien, dus laat ik deze geweldige plaat ook binnen.

Ik had altijd gedacht dat Fool In The Rain de enige single was van LED ZEPPELIN’s IN THROUGH THE OUTDOOR, dus corrigeer me als ik verkeerd zit. ALL OF MY LOVE is een uiterst gevoelige ballad dat handelt over het overlijden van Robert Plant’s zoon Karac. Ik vind vooral Jimmy Page’s bijdrage voor de nodige dynamiek zorgen.

LOOK BACK IN ANGER vind ik beslist een van de betere nummers van BOWIE’s LODGER. Opvallend dat deze de Tipparade niet haalde.

Tenslotte het debuut van MADNESS. Deze single mag er zeker zijn, maar meer en betere nummers zullen in deze lijst van ze volgen.

Ik moet je helaas teleurstellen, ben geen authoriteit wat betreft Kiss.
Ik vind ze verschrikkelijk, dat weet ik wel.

LucM Voor het heerlijke overzicht van de nieuwe nummers in de Tipparade van deze week.
112 verschillende singles deze week in alle lijsten, maar liefst acht meer dan vorige week.

En maar liefst zes nieuwe binnenkomers en een nieuwe nummer 1.
Een aantal tracks had de steun van marzipaintree kunnen gebruiken maar ik denk dat hij op vakantie is. Zijn laatste inlog was van 19 augustus dus zijn lijst van vorige week doet nog een keer mee.

De nieuwe binnenkomers kunnen iedereen ongetwijfeld bekoren, zij het dan de één wat meer dan de ander. Bauhaus zet een trend in de muziek die mij te zwaar op de maag ligt ben ik bang. Maar ik kan mij weer prima vinden in Gary Numan en Madness.

En de ene dansplaat volgt aan de top van de lijst de andere op, zo blijkt. Met een minimaal verschil van het aantal punten maar het is genoeg. Behoorlijk onder de honderd is wel een lage hoeveelheid aan punten maar voor de toekenning van de 20 punten (bovenste plek) maakt dat in de eindklassering verder niet uit.

Dan zien we een klein schisma opdoemen bij de nieuwe single van Neil Young (die nog steeds hoog op mijn verlanglijst staat maar dat terzijde).
De Amerikanen, Canadezen en de Nederlanders houden het op het stevige Hey hey my my (into the black) als kant 1. De softe Engelsen hebben gekozen voor My my hey hey (Out of the blue).

In alle gevallen staan de nummers op de A of de B kant.
Daarom maak ik er een dubbele A-kant van, Hey hey my my (into the black)/ My my hey hey (Out of the blue) (meeste landen gelden).

Zodat daar geen puntenverlies hoeft op te treden.
