De MuMeAfrekening op Spotify:



Dankzij het excelwerk van kaj_666 presenteer ik jullie de lijst van week 3, waarin Elbow al voor de vijfde week aan kop gaat en zelfs zijn voorsprong nog wat uitbouwt. Echt bedreiging is er momenteel nog niet met het alweer 9 weken genoteerde K van Cigarettes After Sex op plek 2. Wellicht dat volgende week The XX en Slowdive een sprong kunnen maken. Of kunnen we wat verwachten van de kersverse singles van Arcade Fire en Gorillaz? We zullen het zien.

Omdat er vorige week een aantal platen de 30ste plaats deelden, zijn er deze week meer uitvallers dan binnenkomers. We beginnen met een re-entry van Bonobo, de Britse producer waarvan afgelopen week een nieuwe single verscheen. Wellicht een tip voor de liefhebbers. Overigens zie ik op zijn YouTube-kanaal dat hij volgende maand optreedt in Paradiso, de Oosterpoort en TivoliVredenburg (en in maart in de AB in Brussel).

De hoogste helemaal nieuwe plaat is On Lankershim van Foxygen, een bandje dat zijn liedjes al jaren volstopt met muzikale knipogen. Zo zou hier Elton John's Tiny Dancer in terug te horen moeten zijn. Het liedje klinkt in ieder geval wat musical-achtig en lijkt te gaan over 'het maken in Hollywood'. Lankershim is daar ook een beroemde boulevard.

Een verrassende nieuwe binnenkomer is wat mij betreft David Bowie: op de dag dat hij 70 zou zijn geworden, kwam ineens een EP uit met o.a. het nummer No Plan. De videoclip hierbij zit vol symboliek: het is opgenomen op Foxgrove Road, de straat in London waar Bowie eind jaren '60 woonde. Dat was ook de tijd waarin hij Space Oddity opnam en ik vermoed dat de spaceshuttles op de televisieschermen daarnaar verwijzen. Het nummer zelf is sfeervol en ademt een sfeer van berusting uit. Ik ben benieuwd of dit nummer nog een redelijke chartrun zal hebben hier, na het enorme succes van Lazarus en Blackstar in de MuMeafrekening een jaar geleden.

Het Amerikaanse Radical Face stond in een keer op de muzikale wereldkaart toen fotocameraproducent Nikon het nummer Welcome Home gebruikte in een reclame. Het nummer haalde in Nederlands zelfs de top 40. Sunn is wat minder pakkend, maar heeft een soortgelijke dromerige sfeer.

De laatste nieuwe binnenkomer is van een artiest die ik twee weken terug zelf in dit topic introduceerde, dus ik ben blij dat ie inmiddels wat breder is opgepakt. Jain is een Française die een eerbetoon zingt aan de vroegere Zuidafrikaanse zangeres Miriam Makeba. Het nummer swingt ontzettend en wellicht hebben haar eigen Afrikaanse roots (haar moeder is Frans-Malagassisch en zelfs woonde ze in Congo) daar een rol in gehad.

Nog steeds de Editors?

Ja, eerlijk gezegd begrijp ik het ook niet.

Ja, de band is wel behoorlijk van stijl veranderd en de zanger is ook wat aangekomen: ik had hem helemaal niet herkend. ?

Je gooit twee bandnamen door elkaar, Herman, net als twee weken terug.

Och ja, ik zie het nu pas. Waar is de hamer-smiley als je hem nodig hebt... Het is aangepast!

Ik vond het extra grappig omdat je twee weken geleden dus precies dezelfde fout maakte. Blijkbaar zijn dat voor jou twee bands die je op een of andere manier heel makkelijk door elkaar gooit.

Ja, dat klopt. En beide bands waar ik niet echt iets mee heb.

Nog altijd Elbow?

Ben dat nummer eigenlijk aan een recordtempo beu geworden, persoonlijk vind ik het dus jammer dat net dit een dikke nummer 1-hit moet worden hier, terwijl er van hun prachtige vorige plaat niks zo hoog kwam. Maar ja, wie ben ik...

De hoogste nieuwe binnenkomer is Cloud Nothings - Enter Entirely. The Molochs, Foxygen, Spoon en British Sea Power schieten in hun tweede week omhoog naar de bovenste regionen.
