In the UK en Ierland stond het nummer in 1980 in beide landen al op 3. Het nummer scoort ook niet voor niets heel wat likes hier op MuMe bij die geweldige verzamelaar uit 1982 (!):

Ik kocht singletjes en mijn eerste LP's rond die tijd en veel mensen kenden het toen van het album One Step Beyond. Ook daarvan is het één van de populairste tracks. Het is dus waarschijnlijk door dat album en die verzamelaar toch bekend geworden in Nederland.

Madness, ik hou er van! Vrijwel alles van deze extreem Britse band in huis op cd en 7". Een verkorte startlijst was wat mij betreft helemaal niet nodig geweest. Dat hun enige Engelse nummer 1 hit niet eens in de startlijst staat is op zijn minst heel erg vreemd te noemen. Verder door de aanwezigheid van bv Lola, Lovestruck, MR. Apples en Smallworld kan ik dus zo maar 10 bekende Madness classics toevoegen.

Dank 123poetertjes voor dit leuke weekje met veel herinneringen aan 2004:
de ochtend radio-uitzendingen van Rob Stenders waarin ze helemaal uit hun dak gingen op dit nummer, festival Hurricane in Duitsland waar ik speciaal voor The Pixies naar toe reed omdat ik dacht dat ze misschien wel nooit meer zouden optreden (met oa Placebo, David Bowie, natuurlijk Franz Ferdinand en de EK wedstrijd tussen Zweden en Nederland als bonus), vakantie Thailand, tweede prijs in een AD ek-game (bezoek aan een Chelsea wedstrijd in Londen met debuut Arjen Robben), en getrouwd in november (met mn al zwangere vrouw)

Van Brunniepoo niks meer vernomen, dus telt zijn lijstje 9 nummers in plaats van 10.

Dank aan de bijna 20 stemmers, zij hebben wel bewezen dat beginnen met een startlijst van 15 inderdaad niet nodig was. Daarom komen er ook een groot aantal nummers bij in ronde 2, namelijk alle liedjes met 3 of meer stemmen, dat zijn er maar liefst 18!

Opgave nu is om je 10 minst favoriete nummers op te lijsten voor woensdagavond 21u30. De 13 (meer of minder) nummers die het vaakst genoemd worden, vallen af. Veel succes!
