Commodores op 88. Een band uit de Uk nu. Bepaald niet hitscorend bij ons, maar in het thuisland wilde het aardig lukken. Slimme pop en met name in den beginne new waverig. Ik ben hier wel een liefhebber van. Dit is de debuutsingle en voor de kijkers van de promo is Jools Holland te herkennen achter de toetsen en sigaar rokend. Hij maakt al jaren "Later With Jools Holland." Een voorbeeldig livemuziek programma voor de BBC.

Squeeze brengt het tot nr.48. Terug naar Nederland en laat ik het eens hebben over Volendam. Vanaf eind jaren 60 is daar tot op heden altijd muziek vandaan gekomen die succesvol was en nog steeds is. Het begon zo'n beetje met The Cats en nu hebben we al weer een poos te maken met Jan Smit, Nick en Simon en de 3J's. Daar tussen in had je dan minder succesvolle acts als Next One en Maribelle. Inmiddels was de palingsound een begrip.
Blijft er nog één band over die overigens begon met hardrock, maar met de komst van visverkoopster Anny Schilder het over een andere boeg ging gooien. Vanaf 1976 continue in de hitlijsten en een grote trouwe schare fans. In ''84'' houdt Anny het voor gezien en wordt vervangen door de 20 jarige Carola Smit. Bezettingswisselingen zijn er bij de heren overigens ook. In 2007 besluiten ze te stoppen. Dit is hun hit uit 1978.
