Tweede single van, daar is ie weer, het 8e album van Polly. Een van de weinige songs op dat album (Let England Shake) die voor gitaar is geschreven. Het nummer, zoals alle nummers van LES, ontstond vanuit de tekst; deze gaat over de Afghaanse oorlog en het effect ervan en maakt onder nadere gebruik van vertaalde tekst van een ongetitelde Russische folksong van de hand van Vladimir Yakovlevich Propp.
Polly kan me bekoren maar verzuimt dit meestal.

Ik heb ze 2 keer gezien: 1 keer wel aardig en 1 keer geweldig. Midnight City vond ik destijds fantastisch. Heb hem nog aangevraagd bij het Glazen Huis dat in 2011 in Leiden stond. Gerard Ekdom keek me wat glazig aan, want die had er blijkbaar nog nooit van gehoord. Later werd het nummer nog wel enigszins bekend gelukkig.
PJ Harvey heeft wel heel veel hele mooie dingen gemaakt, maar The Glorious Land is misschien wel het allermooiste inderdaad.
Apart dat er 2 nummers zijn die nog hoger staan, ik kan me daar niets bij voorstellen.

Deze Pj heb ik wel en die danskraker van M83 ook, geweldige herinnering aan bij festivaloptreden dat heel de tent zot werd op het moment dat de saxofonist op het podium verscheen.
