De eerlijkheid gebiedt me te zeggen dat ik me er niet heel bewust van was dat Stills helemaal niet meedoet aan Expecting to Fly. Maar ja, zal ook niet beweren dat ik een groot kenner ben, wel een groot liefhebber. De eerste keer dat ik muziek van Buffalo Springfield hoorde was via deze (overigens erg mooie) clip. Maar ook met die kennis had ik het nummer wel mee laten doen omdat het onder de vlag van Buffalo Springfield is uitgebracht. En als dit de winnaar is, is dat maar goed ook, toch?

De wachtlijst is wel eens langer geweest Maar aangezien de animo me niet tegenviel en het natuurlijk belachelijk is dat we nog nooit een KO gespeeld hebben met de grootste Nederlandse rockband ooit, zet ik me toch nog weer een keer op de wachtrij.

Ik had nog een Neil Young (live) KO klaar staan. Nummers geselecteerd aan de hand van mijn Neil Young meter. Had zelfs het schema uitgewerkt waarbij de winnaar het opneemt tegen de nummer laatst etc., als ware het een tennistoernooi.

Dus zet me er maar bij. Wat is het maximum aantal nummers?

Ik had er echt geen rekening mee gehouden dat deze Crosby en co KO zo snel klaar zou zijn dus ik heb niets klaar staan qua Chris Rea.

Dus mocht je willen beginnen dan heb je bij deze mijn zegen. Zo niet, geen probleem dan zal ik de.Driving Home for Rea KO zaterdag opstarten.

Toch een beetje een onbevredigende winnaar, al is het zeker een mooi nummer. Met Suite als winnaar was ik contenter geweest (al staan Cathedral en Ohio nog wel wat hoger in mijn waardering).

Ik zal ook eens gaan nadenken over een nieuwe editie.

Morgen zal ik eens achter mijn PC gaan zitten. Nog even eea fine tunen.

Vorig jaar rond deze tijd waren we net begonnen aan de Neil Young Meter, die uiteindelijk, met ruim 350 nummers; amper de helft van zijn oeuvre, na een jaar werd afgesloten met Like a Hurricane als winnaar. In het verleden is er al eens een Neil Young KO geweest, met als ik me niet vergis Ambulance Blues als winnaar; een nummer dat in de meter de 16e plek behaalde. Omdat Neil Young's nalatenschap dankzij zijn archives inmiddels ook bestaat uit een groot aantal live albums en hij ook op dat gebied een repuatie hoog te houden heeft, leek het me leuk om een variatie op de KO te maken, ofwel met Live uitvoeringen van Neil's meest populaire nummers.

Ik heb daarbij de uitslag van de Neil Young meter genomen, daarvan uit de top 100 de 64 nummers gekozen die op een regulier live album zijn te vinden en dat weer onderverdeeld in een KO schema zoals gebruikelijk is op een tennis- of dartstournooi. Ofwel, de nummer 1 tegen de nummer 64 en de nummer 2 tegen de nummer 63, etc. Geen randomizer dus dit keer, waardoor we hopelijk een mooie finale krijgen.

Ik heb deze lijst begin dit jaar samengesteld en heb dus recente releases als Citizen Kane, Junior Blues niet meegenomen. Dat betekent dus dat Ambulance Blues in deze KO ontbreekt. Treur niet, want On the Beach, met CSNY uit 1974 van Archives Vol. II heeft de lijst wél gehaald.
