We hebben prachtige Pretenders songs gehad, rond de stemmige feestdagen in december. I go to sleep, 2000 miles. Je zou haast denken dat Hynde geprobeerd had om kerstsongs te schrijven, dat het expres was gedaan. het werden dan ook klassiekers. Laten we hopen dat ze dit jaar, 30 jaar na dato nogmaals mag toeslaan met haar genre, eigenlijk op het lijf geschreven.

Ze heeft wel veel concurrenten, met ook prima singles. De Guano Apes hebben volgens mij nog niet eerder in mijn lijst gestaan. Maar ook hier een sterk nummer. Het is voor veel hits wel dringen in de lijst.

musician, even een kleinigheidje hoor, maar I Go to Sleep is helemaal niet geschreven door Chrissie Hynde, maar door haar toenmalige geliefde Ray Davies! Het was nog een oud demootje van hem uit de vroege Kinksjaren.

Verder geen kritiek hoor, ik mag je stukjes altijd graag lezen, of ik het er nou mee eens ben of niet.

Dat klopt natuurlijk ook helemaal, het nieuwste nummer is ook niet door haar geschreven. Maar de voordracht is gelijk aan dat van vergelijkbaar werk van The Pretenders van dertig jaar terug. Ze weet het haar eigen te maken.

Maar voor Kerstsucces had ze er misschien nog een maandje mee moeten wachten

Suzanne Sundfor, Gus Gus, Zella Day en Simple Minds komen we hier in meer lijsten tegen, al heeft deze van Gus Gus er bij mij wel lang over gedaan. Crossfade pakte me veel sneller, dit is blijkbaar een groeier.
Tot slot het nummer Blanca van Hey Elbow, schijnt al in mei te zijn uitgebracht, maar valt me nu pas op. Prachtig sfeervol nummer uit Zweden.

Susanne Sundfør maakt met Fade Away haar meest hitgevoelige single en consolideert gemakkelijk de toppositie. Met die heerlijke stem, zeer verslavende synths en dat geweldige middenstuk blijft ze voorlopig nog wel even in de top staan. A Simple Design van The Juan MacLean is al wat ouder. maar bij mij is het kwartje pas een paar weken geleden gevallen toen deze succesvol meestreed in het SvhJ-topic. Hun beste nummer tot nu toe en het is lang geleden dat ik zo'n catchy disconummer heb gehoord. De top 3 wordt gecomplementeerd door Royksopp & Robyn die ook niet snel stuk te krijgen zijn.

Twee nieuwe nummers: HAERTS krijgt een tweede notering met No One Needs to Know, een van de lekkerste nummers van dit jaar. Een ultieme feel good plaat met een superaanstekelijk refrein. Vaste klant Bombay Bicycle Club heeft ook weer een nieuwe single, het zoveelste topnummer van hun vierde langspeler die in januari uitkwam. De gastvocalen worden verzorgd door de uitermate talentvolle Lucy Rose. Home by Now mondt uiteindelijk uit in een hemels duet tussen haar en Jack Steadman.

Absolute meerwaarde! Great!

Momenteel hebben we een heel trouwe schare volgelingen waardoor we toch sowieso elke week aan 13 a 14 lijstjes geraken, maar ik merk dat het overgrote deel van de nieuwe stemmers/gelegenheidsstemmers jammer genoeg snel afhaken.. Hopelijk kan dit opnieuw enkele mensen extra overtuigen om mee te stemmen en geraken we tegen volgend jaar bijvoorbeeld weer aan een 20tal stemmers per week

Hoe gaat het met tellen trouwens nummers die al eerder in een andere lijst stonden bv Liars.
Tellen dan de punten over een heel jaar?

Inderdaad mooi dat onze lijst er op staat!

Zijn er nog ander mensen als ik die hun eigen lijstje ook 1 x per week afdraaien?

Hoe die Frankie toch weer aan Husky is gekomen....

Het is natuurlijk wel een klein beetje de week van Queen en het uitbrengen van een eerste single met Freddie M sinds 1995. Het is zowaar een aardig nummer en staat een beetje stijf van de sentimenten. Ballen in je buik vanwege de eerste keer in zoveel jaar weer eens iets nieuws van de band én hun in 1991 overleden charismatische zanger.

Maar ook Milow is zeker aan te bevelen, over de kwaliteiten van Morrissey hoef ik natuurlijk niets meer te zeggen.
