Erg sterke startlijst. Op 1 of andere manier horen die nummers veel minder bij elkaar dan de vorige lijst. Toen was het natuurlijk ook 10 jaar maar nu zie ik de helft typische jaren 80 platen en de helft typische jaren '90 platen. Terwijl in de vorige editie dat meer in elkaar vloeide. Moeilijk uit te leggen maar hopelijk duidelijk.

Ook de meeste liedjes die ik geen ster geef hoor ik graag. Bv Vanessa Paradis door haar zwoele stem en de toffe productie. Tracy Chapman door de kale instrumentatie en daarom extra gevoelige zang. R.E.M.: te vaak gehoord maar echt wel een topnummer.

Neen, artiesten die naast goede singles maken het ook belangrijk vinden goede albums te maken. U2, R.E.M, Bruce, Nirvana, Simple Minds, Depeche Mode zijn algemeen aanvaarde albumartiesten (je zult ze hier ook in de top 250 terugvinden en de diverse spelletjes hier) en daar was in de meer recente edities geen sprake van. De komende edities zal dit nog meer het geval zijn.

Dat geldt net zo goed voor Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, etc. Voor Justin Bieber ligt de focus momenteel bijvoorbeeld ook echt op het album Purpose als geheel, hij heeft er echt werk in gestoken om daar een sterk geheel van te maken. Ik schatte zo in dat jij iemand als Justin Bieber niet als albumartiest ziet, maar ik denk dat hij dat zelf heel anders ziet. Lijkt me dus een kwestie van smaak.

Tja, Justin Bieber kun je artistiek niet naast bv. U2 of R.E.M. zetten.

Wat is jouw definitie van een 'albumartiest' dan? Volgens de definitie die je net gaf vinden we wat mij betreft nog genoeg albumartiesten in de hitparade.

Want? En hoe is dat revelant voorr het feit of het een albumartiest is?

Ik denk dat je dat best wel snapt.

Jup, het is op smaak gebaseerd. En op het feit dat de artiesten meer worden geaccepteerd door de muziekpers en de serieuze muziekliefhebbers. Maar ik vind de term 'albumartiest' dan gewoon verkeerd gebruikt. Daarmee doe je de albums van die artiesten in één keer af als minderwaardig of er niet toe doend. Dat kan voor jou zo zijn, maar dat is wat anders.

Minderwaardig, waarom? Ik hoef ook niet zo nodig een album van Tasmin Archer of Ace of Base te horen, maar daarom kunnen het toch nog wel gewaardeerde artiesten zijn? Ze staan echter bekend om hun singles en niet om hun albums.

Maar jij impliceert dat albumartiesten geen nummer 1-hits meer scoren. Ik zou niet weten waarom artiesten als Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber en Adele (dat zal je wel de uitzondering vinden), die alledrie recentelijk op één hebben gestaan, niet onder albumartiesten zouden vallen. Hun albums zijn hartstikke bekend, en het draait voor die artiesten ook heel erg om de albums.

Waar ik denk dat het punt meer ligt, is dat de smaak van de mainstream en de smaak van de alternatieve muziekliefhebber verder uit elkaar is gaan liggen.

Ik denk juist dat er aan de smaak van het publiek niet zoveel veranderd is, maar aan de hitlijsten des te meer.
