Aan The Court of the Crimson King heb ik goeie herinneringen.
Nadat in de jaren 60 mijn ‘muzikale opvoeding’ grotendeels bepaald werd door Beatles en Stones met de daarbij behorende Mersey-beat bandjes, had ik een kameraad in militaire dienst, (ik was in 1969 dienstplichtig militair) die me op dit album van KC wees.
Met het gevolg dat in de jaren daarna een hele andere muziekwereld voor me open ging.

Belachelijk sterke ladder! Het beste nummer van Marillion, het beste van Oceansize, Symphony X met een geweldig stuk. Lazuli heb ik erg grote sympathie voor, vooral om de kwaliteit van hun nummers. En dan blijven er ineens geen punten meer over voor de klassieker van King Crimson (die eigenlijk natuurlijk ook geweldig is, maar bij herbeluistering toch wat wegzakte) en een prima nummer van IQ...
