Het was echt een grapje vigil...
Ik ben eerder een muziekomnivoor, daarbij waardeer ik uit de 'proghoek' bijvoorbeeld ook Steven Wilson, Porcupine Tree, Gazpacho en Opeth (prog / metal).

Teleurstellende top 10 so far. Ik verwacht hier weinig van terug te zien als we de top zeros gaan spelen. Gesplinterd jaartje.

Gisterenavond kwam de melding binnen dat een speler het nummer Elbow - One Day Like This , niet goed had genomineerd, hierop heb ik dus een correctie van 8 punten toegepast, waardoor Elbow 1 plaatsje stijgt en Steven voor zijn bekendmaking alweer een plaatsje is gezakt.
Toch wel weer een mooi resultaat voor Steven Wilson, eerst al geweldig scoren met zijn band Porcupine Tree en nu dan solo.
In Harmony Korine is buiten de naam geen verwijzing naar de eigengereide filmregisseur te vinden.
Opener van Insurgentes wat wel te boek staat als het eerste solo album van Wilson (hij heeft natuurlijk voorheen al heel veel buiten de band om gedaan).
Wilson komt weliswaar uit de proghoek maar is ook geïnspireerd door new wave, Radiohead en Warp opnames zoals van Autechre en Boards of Canada, wat wel vaak in met name zijn solo projecten is terug te vinden.
Harmony Korine is hier dan nog het “minst” somber klinkende nummer van het album, ook wel het nummer wat het dichts bij PT blijft.
Mooi intro en de altijd triest klinkende zang van Wilson, dit eerste stuk had zo op een Blackfield album gepast, na een tijdje komen er toch ook weer de zwaardere “Deadwing” versnellingen.
De video is een eerbetoon aan de vroegere surrealistisch films (vooral uit het zuiden van Europa).

Fantastisch mooi nummer van Wilson. Het vergelijk met Blackfield is helemaal correct. Geniale duizendpoot.

11 jaar geleden moesten wij wachten op weer een notering van Portishead in onze top 10, maar wat een come back meteen maar op de 1e plaats.
Dit nummer scoorde 4 keer top 2 en hield uiteindelijk 1 puntje over om bovenaan de lijst te eindigen.

Wat een nummer, de kille beats, de drones en de onaardse vocalen van Beth Gibbons.
Na de zang van Beth volgt er een deprimerend stuk wat het beste als een kruising tussen electro en industrial genoemd zou kunnen worden.
Dat het drietal, Gibbons, Utley en Barrow met deze muziek je weet te vastpakken en niet meer los te laten is knap.
Fascinerend nummer en een fraaie winnaar van de 2008 editie.
