Heb een hele hoop 4,5*-albums buiten mijn lijstje moeten laten.

Leuk gedaan zaaf!

Illmatic, 36 chambers, Liquid swords en The infamous waren geen verrassingen bovenin, ook gegeven de Mume toplijst, de hoge gemiddeldes, en uiteraard het feit dat het gewoon classics zijn. Midnight marauders had ik eigenlijk ook in de top 5 verwacht.

Erg leuk om te zien wat er daarna komt. De typische Mume favorieten als CYNE, nieuwe hip hop vaandeldrager Kendrick Lamar natuurlijk met drie albums als ik het goed gezien heb, Kanye, Madvilain, OutKast, de Zwolse helden, de gouwe oudjes van Eric B. & Rakim en Public Enemy.

Opvallend dat de generatie die is opgegroeid met Eminem, The Chronic 2001 en G-Unit, inmiddels iets verder is qua smaak. Enkele jaren geleden hadden die misschien hoger gestaan nog.

Welke platen mis ik bovenin? Smaak is subjectief, maar gegeven de Musicmeter berichten, gemiddeldes, en persoonlijke lijstjes, had ik Sun rises in the east van Jeru hoger verwacht eigenlijk. En Smif-N-Wessun niet eens in de top 100, verbaasde me ook wel.

Jawel hoor! De Head Banger Boogie mixtape (Faberyayo over classic old school beats) vind ik een juweeltje!
