Tegen beter weten in blijf ik Tom Waits pushen. Ondanks alle potjes en pannetjes van de albums hierna, is dit zijn mooiste. De rest van de wereld vindt dat niet. Geeft niet; dat streelt mijn eigenzinnigheid.

Voor nummer 20 sluit ik mij aan bij Wever.

Ik had erover op kunnen houden, maar nu begint iemand anders erover

Remain in Light was dus mijn nummer 20 (en daarmee welgeteld mijn tweede match in de Top 10). Hij stond daar soort van ex aequo met Cultösaurus Erectus van Blue Öyster Cult (die het dus net niet haalde). Wetende dat ik 11 punten zou bijdragen i.p.v. de voor de hand liggende 1 punt, was het toch wel aantrekkelijk om de nummer 20 aan een kansloze hardrockplaat te geven i.p.v. aan deze MuMe-lieveling, die ik hiermee wellicht disproportioneel meehielp iets veel beters achter zich te laten. Soit, het verschil met nummer 2 is hoe dan ook al veel groter dan 11 punten.

Mijn zure mening over de Top 10 heb ik eerder al gegeven. Ter compensatie kan ik nog noteren dat, hoewel Joy Division verder niet echt mijn ding is, Closer met Decades wel een fraaie afsluiter heeft. Over Seventeen Seconds zou ik ook graag iets positiefs noteren, maar ik zou niet weten wat.

Een beetje puzzelaar kende, op de volgorde na, de helft van mijn Top 20 al. Hierbij de andere 10 en de volgorde:

Je kijkt in mijn ziel, zaaf. Als ik langs de Waddenzee ren, luister ik vaak naar tracks van Seventeen Seconds. Altijd tegenwind, altijd de vuurtoren van Borkum in zicht, altijd leegte en een verre horizon. En dan " A Forest". Heerlijk.

Ik ontdek ook de hele tijd redelijk geweldige hardcore punk-platen uit 1981 (bennerd am I right?). Hier zijn we na het punk-minded 1977 toch vooral de postpunk in de armen gaan sluiten, maar de andere tak van de boom is ook meer dan de moeite waard hoor! Bovendien allemaal korte albums

Misschien is een punkboi als niels94 daarom ook wel geïnteresseerd in meedoen?

Ik denk dat door de samenstelling van het verder uitgebreide veld van stemmers het alternatieve circuit nu op dit topic nog verder het voortouw heeft genomen. Dat doet volgens mij onvoldoende recht aan de muziek uit 1980. De Leeuw was afgehaakt hierdoor in de jaren '70. Ik kom nog tot 6 matches, maar dat is omdat ik ook alternatieve muziek heb, naast andere klasse platen die vrijwel ontbreken bij ons. Moet het allemaal zo verantwoord zijn wat je in jouw lijst zet?
