Thom Yorke over nieuwe Radiohead album:
Bands like Radiohead can leak little droplets of information about coming albums over the course of a year. Tantalizing us with what's in store, teasing us with cryptic quotes, and generally getting us all riled up, so that when the album finally drops, all of those droplets have whet our appetites such that we must have the album.
Well, Thommy Boy has given NME.com a few golden nuggets of info about the band's seventh album, which is not due until next spring at the earliest. Yorke feels that the recording process this time around finds the band shifting gears, much like they did in the post-OK Computer sessions that eventually led to Kid A and Amnesiac.
"It's going well," Yorke said of the work so far. "It's a bit like Kid A-- we're going through a period of change. But that's good. We'll get there."
That's it; that's all Yorke said about the album. But that's all he has to say. This doesn't necessarily mean that the album will sound like Kid A, but that it will be a big step forward for the band. It's good to see a group working so hard to create something different, unlike certain other English groups, who are content to stick their platinum-selling formulas. But we're not naming any names...cough cough...COLDPLAY! Oh weird, what a strange sneeze!
Anyway, several months ago Yorke and guitarist Jonny Greenwood performed some new material with the London Sinfonietta, where they debuted "Arpeggi". More recently, Yorke performed "House of Cards" during an all-night vigil for the Global Week of Action in support of Trade Justice. Other song titles mentioned by NME.com include "Glass Flowers" and "Reckoner".

Ik wacht op de nieuwe van Tool eind dit jaar als de verwachtingen kloppen en op de nieuwe van Radiohead.
Verder ga ik me verdiepen in Royksoop (The Understanding) en Dredg (Catch Without Arms).

't Is dat ik het gaap smileytje even niet vind ... Warp mag gerust overschakelen op films only, de laatste jaren releasen ze nog maar weinig waardige albums vind ik. Is Planet Mu toch uitgegroeid tot een veel beter electronisch alternatief.

Mee eens. Ik denk dat we toch wel kunnen zeggen dat Rob Mitchell de kwaliteitsbewaker was bij Warp. Sinds zijn dood werd het op muzikaal gebied nogal een dalende lijn.

Op 29 augustus a.s. release van nieuwe album van Opeth met als titel 'Ghost Reveries'. Hopelijk is dit weer in de stijl van 'Damnation'!

In de komende maanden zijn er nieuwe releases te verwachten van o.a. Ladytron (Witching hour), Elbow (Leaders of the free world), Texas (Red book), Broadcast (Tender buttons), The church (Uninvited like the wind), Nada surf (the weight is a gift), Depeche mode (Playing the angel), Franz Ferdinand, the cardigans (Super extra gravity) en Muse (Cryptology).

Depeche Mode een nieuwe? Natuurlijk, anders zouden ze niet in januari naar Belgïe komen...Cool!!! Overigens moet NL wachten tot maart. Logica!

NEW YORK 27/07 (BELGA/AG) = Het nieuwe album van Rolling Stones komt uit op 6 september, bijna tien jaar na het vorige album. Bij de nieuwe cd hoort ook een nieuwe wereldtournee. Het album heet "Bigger Bang", een naam die de fascinatie weerspiegelt van de rockers voor wetenschappelijke theorieën over het ontstaan van het universum. Dat zei de groep in een communiqué dat ze dinsdag verspreidde op de officiële website, de dag van de 62ste verjaardag van Mick Jagger. "Bigger Bang" bevat 16 nummers, is het langste album sinds "Exile on Main Street" uit 1972 en is een mengeling van "rock en blues", met liedjes die geschreven zijn door Mick Jagger en gitarist Keith Richards. De eerste single zal "Streets of Love" heten. De tournee start op 21 augustus in Boston en bereikt in 2006 Europa.(KET)

The Fiery Furnaces Preparing Two LPs for Release
Months ago, the Fiery Furnaces were busy working away on a double album with the title Garfield El, which was due out this summer. It was pushed back. They were also supposed to tour over the summer. Cancelled. Then nobody heard from them for a long time. Now, seems like Rough Trade has been able to round up the siblings Friedberger and pull some info out of them.
There will now no longer be a 2xCD Fiery Furnaces album, but two separate records that will be released around the same time. First up is Rehearsing My Choir, due sometime this fall. This is the album that features assistance from Matt and Eleanor's grandmother, Olga Sarantos. Following that, and hopefully right on its heels, will be Bitter Tea. Fieryfurnaces.net reports that "while Bitter Tea is fully finished, the delay is due to the band still working on Rehearsing My Choir." So...uh...why don't they release the finished album now and the other one later? As always, expanded details are forthcoming.

Eerlijk gezegd heb ik er nog niet naar geluisterd. Ik ken de vorige nog niet zo lang en die wil ik eerst wat meer laten bezinken.

hij is erg leuk, de vocalen zijn dit keer weer heel mooi.
De opera zang krijgt iets meer ruimte. En nog steeds de lekker speelse geluidjes en productie (zo uitermate slecht vond ik het niet geporduceerd trouwens, en daarnaast heeft dat ook zo z'n charme)

Vind ik ook. Sterker nog, ik vind die enigszins basale productie juist de grote kracht van het vorige album. Als je die nummers gladjes op zou nemen blijft er denk ik niet veel van over. Op zich is de uitdrukking 'rottig geproduceerd' die ik gebruikte dan ook niet kloppend, juist omdat het bewust zo gedaan is.hij is erg leuk, de vocalen zijn dit keer weer heel mooi.
